It’s ok to cry right?

There was only one thought racing through her head as she walked into the Abandoned Toilets. Nononononononono. Those two letters said a whole paragraph for her. She couldn’t have had this outburst in front of Mikey, she just couldn’t. He would have thought she was overacting, all of them always did. It was like she couldn’t feel anything but pain in this world, which is why it hurt some much. She ran her hand through her silky hair. The producers had said they were looking for talent and beauty at the same time. At least now she knew she didn’t possess even one of them. It was frustrating how she had actually been excited in the morning. She actually thought she had a chance in the big leagues. No, her life could never even have a drop of happiness. She should have learnt that by now. She should have been ready for the news, she shouldn’t have embarrassed herself in front of Mikey. But he did try to comfort her, so she appreciated that, more than she could ever admit. Of course, it all started with how they had accidentally swapped letters, but now she felt like she knew him more.
She opened her songwriting journal to the page of the song she had submitted. Her best one yet.
She reread it so many times the words were engraved in her memory. She tore it from the corner. She couldn’t tear it all apart just yet, it held too much of her soul.
And now, she was here. To grieve as much as she could. To actually cry without the fear of being seen or judged. No one could ever fully understand the pain she had gone through, ever since she was in first grade. It was too much to explain to a random person, they would just think she was being dramatic and exaggerating, when she wasn’t in the least. She sat down on the wet floor, and sobbed, like she had never done before. Her face became streaked with tears, but they just weren’t stopping. She felt her head spinning, and she wasn’t able to speak.

✽There was a heaviness in the air that day. One that pressed down upon a person. Leaving them defenseless and unknowing of what was to come. It was one of those days for Avery. As the end of the year crept closer and closer, Avery didn't know how to feel. Going home didn't have the same appeal as it used to. If anything, dread pooled within her at the thought of stepping foot back in her grandparents' home. Bad memories of the past summer still haunted her. Her father, her grandfather, the news of how her mother truly felt about her one and only daughter, all of it.
Avery had chosen to walk the halls that day. Thinking that maybe if she took a break from everything that she could finally clear her head. It didn't work. Nothing worked as of late. That's how it felt to Avery.
Sobbing erupted from across the hall, and Avery's head shot up. Who was crying in the abandoned toilets? Avery herself had never stepped foot into the abandoned room, but she knew enough about the castle to know it was a place people went when they needed an empty place to release their feelings.
Avery burst into the room, and at first didn't notice her fellow second year slumped against the wall. It was when Avery looked down that she saw the girl. Taking a deep breath, Avery stalked closer. Not wanting to startle the girl, but not wanting her to be alone either. No one should be alone. Especially when someone was crying about something.
"Hey, are you alright?" Avery gently touched the shoulder of the girl. ✽
