@Rosie Parker
Astronomy was one of those classes she didn’t have a solid opinion on. It wasn’t that the class was boring. In fact, learning about stars and planets was interesting. It was a class that she could bring herself to enjoy. The professor was a good teacher, and it wasn’t too hard to understand the content either. All in all, it was a decent class. Perhaps not as riveting as the likes of DADA or Charms, but it was engaging enough that she didn’t find herself wanting to take a nap until the class was over.

Except that was also an issue. Granted, it was probably a good idea to hold a class that focused on the stars when they were actually visible at night. But there were those times when she desperately needed sleep from a gruelling day of hard work, whether it was having to speed through pages of homework or practicing all day for Qudditch. She’d go to her dorm, longing for a good night’s sleep, only to realize that she still had one more thing to worry about for approximately an hour. Falling asleep in class was generally not a good idea, so that was out of the window. All she’d have to hope for is that the loss of sleep didn’t affect her terribly the next day.

But this wasn’t Astronomy class anymore. It was just her, the grass beneath her, and the night sky looming above her. The day had long ended, and most people might have retreated back to their common rooms. She would have done the same, but she felt like doing something different for tonight. She hadn’t done it in a while, especially with how busy she was in the last few months. She could have used another break like this.

Saskia knew what stars were. In a logical explanation, they were essentially angry gas balls that changed in colour depending on how angry they were. RIght, maybe that wasn’t the best way to explain what they were. But it was true, wasn’t it? If she touched a star, she probably would have burned her entire hand off. That was even assuming she could touch one to begin with. Wasn’t going to space dangerous? There was weird stuff out there. Black holes, space rocks (were they called asteroids or meteors? They were asteroids, right?), and, well, weird space stuff. She’ll admit, she didn’t know what else was there. All she knew was that space was nothing like what she would be used to on Earth.

She wondered what it would be like to go to space. She heard that there wasn’t any oxygen in there. That, and the other weird space stuff she wasn’t sure about, was what made it dangerous to go. That was probably why not a lot of people were so inclined to want to go in the first place. But that didn’t stop her from wondering what it could be like. She may not have ever gotten the chance to go to space. But it was nice to imagine a possibility, if only for a while.
