| xxx | Lottie was not familiar with selflessness. After the absolute train-wreck that was her first game as captain, the bloody aftermath had been relocated to the Hospital Wing, peppering the large room with dreary silver-and-green uniforms. She herself was not injured, thank the stars, but the same could not be said for her teammates. Despite this, she had the sound judgement to visit them after the match. This was unlike her, but she supposed captaincy had a way of readjusting her outlook. Which meant she had brought a quill and parchment, as well as a hard-back book to rest it upon and a few stray chess pieces to mimic players. If she couldn't win them on the field, she'd win them off it. Which meant strategy talk. Her brother, Louis, had been a master at this. Quidditch was a second language to the older boy, the kind of mundane chat one would discuss over tea. He knew the game like the back of his hands, though he was often to sheepish to show it. Lottie had received the majority of her knowledge from him, as well as the few years she had actually been on the team. First-hand experience had proven to her that it truly did take a great deal of knowledge to truly weave together a coherent strategy plan. This, she supposed, was a learning opportunity in that regard. She had been standing outside the Hospital Wing doors for about two minutes past arriving, heart thumping an unsteady rhythm in her chest. There was a great deal of guilt that came with nearly breaking her team in half. Though, of course, there was also a great deal of guilt that came with doing nothing about it. With a sharp, shaky inhale, she pushed open the door and stepped inside the Hospital Wing. | xxx |
