As the two sat there conversing, Leo continued his sketching, continuing to sneak glances at the girl every so often. At her comment a smile made its way on his face, it would be fun to have someone he knew in the common room when they got there so now he was kind of hoping the two would get to be in the same house so they could continue these fun conversations again another time. At the same time he hoped she was right that if they weren’t in the same house that they would still get to meet again while they were in school. “You think so? I didn’t think so at first but I guess I can’t really picture myself in the other houses either.” He said and chuckled at her comment. ‘I guess even perfect strangers can see the whole Noxley family traits that lead us all to be in Ravenclaw.’ He thought to himself as he tried to shade the drawing a bit.
Rosaline began talking about her family and changed the position she had been sitting in. “Oh really?” He responded, looking over at her again. “I actually have two siblings, they’re twins but they actually just graduated from Hogwarts.” He thought about what the two of them might be up to right now and sighed softly to himself since even though they annoyed them he was missing them already being he rarely stayed away from home for longer than a weekend before. “I’m not as close to my brother as I am with my sister but she is funny although they both bug me all the time.” He rolled his eyes at the comment and chuckled softly. “They both were at the top of the class when they were students at Hogwarts though so I guess you could say I have a lot to live up to.” Admitting that was something he wasn’t good at so he wasn’t sure why he was being so open with this girl he had just met but he for some reason he felt like he could trust her.
At the mention of her mother and colleague being aurors Leo’s interest was piqued. “Aurors? Maybe they know my dad then, he’s also an auror and is going to be training my brother to be one too soon.” He was surprised at the mention of her mother’s job since he thought he had met a lot of his father’s colleagues but clearly there was more out there that he didn’t meet yet or maybe he didn’t remember. Either way it was nice to meet a friend who had a similar upbringing in that way. Leo found it funny and cute how she was so interested and intrigued by her mother’s colleague’s ability since he hadn’t had many good memories surrounding his powers with his parent’s always making him work hard to control it. Even the few times his grandmother showed her powers to him his parents would still encourage him to not show it off or use it around others so to hear someone was so open about it and used it to even make some kids happy was nice to hear. The girl had such a strong opinions about it that he couldn’t help but laugh at how cute she was as she smiled and encouraged him. “I appreciate that though,” He said softly as she finished speaking, looking down at the drawing to not meet her gaze as he was almost embarrassed by how silly it seemed to be hiding it when she put things like that.
“Maybe I will be able to learn more and be able to control it better in the future, it happens a lot of times on its own right now.” He admitted and brushed the page before turning to the girl again. “Do you want to see what I made?” He asked her with a bright smile, excited to see her reaction to the drawing he had been working on as they talked. Looking down at the drawing pad he slowly turned it towards her so she would be able to see. It was a simple sketch nothing fancy or colored in but he had tried his best to draw her as a little gift. He pulled out the page and handed it to her, “I hope you like it, it isn’t the best since but I thought I should give you something for your help earlier.” The smile on his face wouldn’t leave and his cheeks continued to be a pinkish hue as he watched her look at the drawing. He looked around and saw some students going to their tents and walking around now and he remembered her mentioning how she was going to go to the petting zoo still that evening. “Did you have to get going? I don’t want to keep you from the petting zoo for too long.” He chuckled softly as he stood up reaching his hand out to the girl to help her up.

The temperature had cooled down from the lack of sunlight. Rosaline picked up the leaf that she had twirled between her fingers; the cool breeze blew through, and then she let go of it. Silently, it fell back to the ground softly. Gravity. The young half-blood wondered if she’d learn what gravity was at Hogwarts. Her thoughts might be getting too far. Pulling back, Leo seemed to be happy about the idea that they might be in the same house. A smile tugged at her lips as she observed Leo when he was talking. Although this was only their first meeting, something about Leo was very endearing to her. “Yeah, that is my honest opinion. But if you ever want to be in other houses, I’ll support your decisions too,” she joked a little with a light tone.
Leo’s situation about siblings-at-Hogwarts-wise was similar to hers. They both had family members there, but not at the moment when they were going to the school. When she heard he had siblings, the curiosity in her eyes lit up again. The only daughter always wanted siblings, but apparently, either it was due to her parents’ lack of willingness, or they had a life that was too busy to take care of another child. In the end, she never got a chance to have siblings. So, when she heard this, it immediately piqued her interest. “Twins! It must be fun to have siblings at home.” Rosaline was almost a little envious of Leo, but she soon thought of her cousins; the time they had spent wasn’t less than any other siblings. Leo then talked about the expectations passed down from his older brother and sister. Rosaline nodded along and replied, “I can totally understand this pressure. I’m not sure how I’ll do at Hogwarts, but I can only hope I’ll do great.” Pausing a second, she looked into Leo’s eyes and mentioned a proposal, “Maybe we can study together; that would be very motivating.” Rosaline chuckled.
She set eyes on the crowd walking along the field; they were in groups or in pairs. She wondered if she’d have that many friends or know a lot of people like them. This kind of anxiety had never occurred to her before; her brows furrowed unintentionally. Maybe it was the effect of leaving home soon after she finished summer camp or the fact that she had entered a brand-new school with brand-new people. Leo’s words got through her sudden deep thoughts: his father was an auror too. “Whoa, then maybe your father and my mom could know each other! One of my uncles is an auror too, actually,” she then continued. “Your brother is going to be an auror too? That is so cool.” The young Everhart had considered the option to be an auror, following her family’s path, though it was still too early to tell if she really wanted this; in the end, she hadn’t even been in any DADA class at this stage of her life.
After her consoling, or rather, what should be called experience sharing about metamorphmagus abilities, Leo looked more assured. Rosaline observed him quietly, trying to study his expression, and his gaze shifted back to the drawing he had been working on. From earlier, she had noticed the existence of a new drawing, yet she didn’t know what the theme or content was; she figured he was multitasking and sketching the magical creatures he had seen before. He asked her if she wanted to see his drawing. Rosaline instantly nodded and leaned forward. To her surprise, it was her portrait on his drawing pad. She gasped in awe, "Oh my Merlin! Thank you so much. This is so pretty.” Her cheeks flushed with crimson. She tucked her hair to the back of her ear to cover the fact she was a bit shy from the outset. Her head was down and staring at the drawing. It was very pretty; the effort could be seen, and even if it was done in a short period of time during their conversation, the quality and skills were great nonetheless. As Leo handed it to her, she turned her head to him and said quite seriously to him, “You’re really a talented artist. Thank you again. I’ll treasure it.” A warm smile appeared on her face. At this moment, Rosaline thought she wouldn’t need to worry about her future school life. It’d be fine. This moment convinced her everything would be alright; she didn’t need to be that worried.
Leo rose up and asked her if she needed to go to the petting zoo, and she then realized how long they had been conversing. “I have totally forgotten this,” she chuckled, bemused by the fact that she had lost track of the time. Leo reached his hand to help her get up, and Rosaline took it; with a swift move, she was now standing on her feet. With a grin, she said to Leo, “So, I think this is goodbye? I hope we can meet up at school!”
