Poppy had many regrets, most of them centred around her decision to remain awake until horrifying hours of the morning on the night before in an attempt to get in a bit of last-minute studying. There would be a test for Transfiguration in the next period, and the girl had known she wouldn't have the time to study when she woke.

~ During HoM class
The problem?
She was having the hardest time staying awake during History of Magic, despite the importance of the content. If she wasn't mistaken, all of this would be on a test, too, within a week, but not for the life of her could Persephone coax her eyes to remain open for more than a few seconds at a time. Each sentence that flowed from the professor's mouth added another line to the lullaby that saw her drifting further.
In a sharper state of mind, she would be horrified. Poppy wasn't, by any means, a delinquent. She was the sort of student who sat with her spine straight, gaze locked on her professors, and occasionally asked questions when she could pluck up the courage to speak in front of the entire class. Her grades attested to the work and diligence she exercised in her lessons in the same way her drooping eyelids testified to her late night.
It wasn't long before her eyes closed for the final time. Her body sagged as her muscles went limp, and soon Poppy was slumping until she ended up leaning against the shoulder of the Slytherin girl sitting next to her (Angel).
She was oblivious to her new position, lost somewhere on the other side of slumber.
What a comfortable shoulder.

History of Magic was really Angel's favourite class paired with Charms due to how before in her muggle school she loved History. Many students were groaning and ranting on how it was hard to keep up with the class especially how the information needed to be written down. Angel had no problem, it was her favourite subject after all nothing can really disrupt her on her studies in fact she love to put effort into things she cared about.
The teacher, told the class to continue their studies and to keep writing with their quills and parchment for paper. Now the teacher pulled away to make notes. Now all that can be heard was whispers, quills and pages of books being turned and flipped. Unfortunately ink would be met with faces as some students got too tired and slept into a deep slumber. For her, staying awake long enough was no problem too it was class time and she could not afford to overcome being sleepy.
Now she was almost done with writing the last questions and answers, and notes for the day, but someone had bumped to her shoulder. Angel almost spilled her quill, she did not want to make a mess or sludges her penmanship was amazing. She was shocked and turned her head slowly to see a girl, a Gryffindor got tired like the other and has chosen to become limp and lean on her. Angel sighed and let down her quill and slowly bring her shoulder down.
"Uh, sorry I think you're head went the wrong way.." she said tapping the girl slightly
Angel sighed again, her shoulders were in an awkward position she could almost tip over.

The voice came through as little more than a whisper for the girl who'd lost her fight to sleep. Much like the professor's voice, this softer one stood no chance when pitted against her brain's desperation for rest. Ironically, it was the sigh that did it. The small exhale of air that shifted the girl's shoulder was enough to alter Poppy's position. The movement was minuscule, but it rippled outward, causing her to slide.

It was that feeling of 'falling' that jolted her.
As the she jolted awake, several things hit her at once. She'd fallen asleep in the middle of class. She'd fallen asleep on someone.
The small girl's face flooded with colour immediately, warmth spreading out toward her ears and down her neck. Her mortification didn't end there. Without her knowing, a metamorphic response stirred, the roots of her hair turning a deep indigo.
"S—Sorry," Poppy whispered, quickly righting herself so that she was no longer slouched against the girl. With a healthy dose of shame still coursing through her, she cleared her throat. "I didn't mean...it wasn't..."
Her gaze flickered back to the board.
"I...I didn't miss anything important, did I?"
The last thing Persephone needed was another class she was falling behind on. If the previous night had taught her nothing else, she now knew that all-nighters were not for her and weren't remotely sustainable. Poppy blanched at the thought that she could've fallen asleep in a class like Defense Against the Dark Arts instead. Missing even a minute of that professor's lecture could very well be the difference between success and decapitation—or singed eyebrows, anyway.
It was a thought she was happy to not entertain.

The shooken Gryffindor looked around in a hurry. Well atleast she was awake now, perfect timing enough for both to pack up and prepare to go to their next class. Her gaze met the sleepy girl. How come it's always Gryffindors who can't fight to stay awake for just a little bit? Oh well did not matter, what matters if they can be in time.
"S—Sorry,"
"I didn't mean it wasn't I. I didn't miss anything important, did I?" the Gryffindor said with a panic
Angel chuckled leaning over to see her notes it seems she just needed to put her name down. Easy enough Angel sighed and looked to the blonde girl. First question, check, second, check, third, check. yup everything was in order and impressive how she was able to do everything before she slept.
"This girl reminds me of a amphibian, intriguing creatures."
"No! Nothing at all just put your name down and it will be all good!" Angel said with a swiss
Looking over to the board, it seems like every question was laid out for the students to answer. If lucky she might be able to reassure the girl once more it looked like she was still being in a trance, and to her surprise still groggy maybe the girl didn't get enough sleep this morning. Can't blame her, waking up at seven in the morning sharp was not for the week, especially for Angel she's a night owl.
"What's your name? Mine's Angel!" she says with her hand extending a reach her hands glowing in the basking sun rays. Quickly she let out a little wince, the sun did not work well with her skin. Massaging her hand it left a sunburn. This time she covered her hands with the gloves she packed. Now that was awkward. Angel felt a little nervous now, the sound the burn made was a hiss, and her red eyes reflected in the bearing sun. Hating to admit it masking was not easy, and being Dhampir was not so easy to hide.

Poppy dragged her hands along her face in a last attempt to wake herself. Her head bobbed up and down at the Slytherin's words, half understanding them as her focus slowly sharpened.

Nothing, she'd said. Thank, Merlin. With it only being History of Magic, it really may have amounted to little more than an inconvenience she would have to sort out later, but it didn't mean she wanted to deal with it. There was still too much for her to do—too much that demanded her attention. When had she become so busy? She...wasn't sure. One minute, the girl was ignoring every facet of school life and those associated with it; the next, she was juggling classes, assignments, solo practices, burgeoning friendships, volunteering...
Were all schools so exhausting?
She would have to ask Isla when she got home. All her older siblings were now attending secondary school and had been for some time. This was her first school experience, and it was a little hard for her to know what could be considered 'normal'.
That was a worry for later. She let herself sink into the relief of not falling behind while her nerves settled—until her own gaze fell on her parchment.
Poppy went white as a sheet. On the board, there were several questions written. On her parchment, there were...none. When had the professor written all those? How long did she have to complete them? The little girl looked between the board and her desk mate, who'd assured her she hadn't missed anything while there was an entire board full of work she hadn't even started.
Oh god. Oh god, oh god, oh god.
Merlin, how was she going to fix this?? How...how long did she have left before class ended? Oh god, she was going to be sick.
"What's your name? Mine's Angel!"
Poppy didn't have the presence of mind to flush at the realisation that, despite sharing a castle and classes for nearly a year, there were still some students who didn't know who she was and thought she didn't know them either. It happened...a lot, if she were being honest. She'd been a wallflower for most of her first year and was reaping the rewards of that now. Invisible to many; background at best.
"I...I know," she replied distractedly. She did know the girl's name was Angel. They'd had the same History of Magic class since September. Slytherins shared a few classes with Gryffindor, actually, but this wasn't the time for any of tha—
Hiss.
Instinctively, Poppy's head snapped in the direction of the noise. While she hadn't seen what happened, it was a fairly easy guess. Angel had always had issues with the sun. Many with Angel's...was it a condition...? Poppy didn't know, but she'd run into a few of them when she arrived at the castle. That sort used to terrify her the most—the dhampires—but with time and exposure, there only remained an unsettling feeling that she often worked to dismiss.
It wasn't their fault they were the way they were anymore than it was hers what happened to her body.
"Are...are you alright? W—would you like to switch seats? I—mine has a little less sun."

Much to her dismay the stinging from the burn was not subsiding and would continue to take it's coarse. Regardless, Angel was desensitized to the pain but she understood a sense of practices to heal and disinfect wounds. The class was beginning to conclude nathless so it would do her good to commence her voyage to the infirmary. The poor Gryffindor had to have her gaze set upon her predicament but now was not the time to be so ill at ease.
"No — I'm quite alright." she said with a weary chuckle, her words were a bit breathless. Student council if there was one, she'd propose a summer uniform
Whilst she was grabbing her text book to make last minute note taking her hands swiftly made quick shorthanded words for the entire minutes of the lesson. History of Magic was her strong suit and it certainly was when she already had everything written down.
She placed her quill down imperturbably
"Class is about to come to a close. But once again please! No need to make a fuss about me, I can really handle this by myself." she said with a light and gentle tone. Her inflection was clear and eloquent
"I'm a mess mess mess mess"
