Appearance

Katherine is a somewhat short witch with dark brown hair and blue eyes. Her hair is straight and falls past her shoulders when it's not being held back with ribbons, ties, or, on occasion, her wand. Her skin is fair and has a smattering of freckles, most especially across her nose.
History
Reducio
Katherine is the only child of a pureblood family. She was born and raised in Gravesend, England on August 8, 2014.
Her parents, Ernest and Francine, run a successful potions business, Silverend Brews . Her father grows many ingredients in their family greenhouse, and her mother is the primary potions master. They specialize in household concoctions. Though the town is largely comprised of Muggles, they've managed to create a loyal customer base of local witches and wizards, as well as owl orders. Katherine grew up around the shop, helping tend to the various plants and aid her parents in their potions.
Though many children may relish in the idea of being around a shop of such magic and wonder, Katherine found it stifling. The meticulous brews and many, many breakable bottles felt like a cage she couldn't escape from. And as her parents decided to homeschool her rather than send her to a preparatory school. So much of her time was spent in the back room of the shop, finishing lessons and wishing to be just about anywhere else. She is always moving about, directing her attention to anything under the sun. The only time she seems to sit still is when a book rests in her hand.
She never took to her parents’ love of potions or herbology. Potions required too much precision and it seemed more math than magic. And she would much rather keep her hands clean of dirt and whatever else seemed to linger in that greenhouse. What she does love is research. Give her a topic and a library, and she'll seek to make herself an expert. She’s spent hours imagining where she could go and how to get there. She dreams of exploring Egyptian tombs and climbing mountains and whatever else might give her the chance to explore the world outside her small, English town.
One might think this would lead her to Ravenclaw, like both of her parents. On the contrary, she isn’t called to knowledge for its own sake. And she certainly doesn’t want to spend seven years learning magic just to end up in her parents’ potions shop. She intends to put herself on the map. She’s still just determining which one. And she's hoping being in Slytherin will help her get there.

First Instance of Magic
Reducio
At the age of four, Katherine was engaging in an elaborate tea party with several of her stuffed animals. This was a common pastime, meant to mimic her mother’s gathering with friends while fulfilling her need for company without siblings or nearby friends. The entire collective was elaborate, with a real tea set (a gift from a doting grandmother to the chagrin of her parents). However, she became frustrated at the lack of adequate participation on the part of her fluffy friends. Their tea sat untouched, and it was up to her to lead the conversations. She grew more and more displeased at their inaction. In the mind of a toddler, this was nothing short of betrayal. In her frustration, she yelled at her stuffed bear, Mr. Bear. “Do something,” she cried. To her surprise, Mr. Bear's teacup lifted itself twenty inches high and then fell down, never spilling a drop of tea. Assuming that Mr. Bear had decided to play his part after all, Katherine went on with her tea, not thinking much of the incident until she mentioned it to her mother, who grew very excited.

Wand
Wood: Aspen
Reducio"Wand-quality aspen wood is white and fine-grained, and highly prized by all wand-makers for its stylish resemblance to ivory and its usually outstanding charmwork. The proper owner of the aspen wand is often an accomplished duellist, or destined to be so, for the aspen wand is one of those particularly suited to martial magic. An infamous and secretive eighteenth-century duelling club, which called itself The Silver Spears, was reputed to admit only those who owned aspen wands. In my experience, aspen wand owners are generally strong-minded and determined, more likely than most to be attracted by quests and new orders; this is a wand for revolutionaries."
Core: Phoenix Tail Feather
Reducio"This is the rarest core type. Phoenix feathers are capable of the greatest range of magic, though they may take longer than either unicorn or dragon cores to reveal this. They show the most initiative, sometimes acting of their own accord, a quality that many witches and wizards dislike.
Phoenix feather wands are always the pickiest when it comes to potential owners, for the creature from which they are taken is one of the most independent and detached in the world. These wands are the hardest to tame and to personalise, and their allegiance is usually hard won."

Family
Family Tree Coming Soon
Francine Amarythe Silverberry nee Rosemont
Mother
Francine is a witch who hails from Whitby. She grew up with a view of the sea out her window and quickly fell in love with the water. She spent much of her time at the seaside, often exploring the flora and fauna the sea brought to her. When she was eleven, she received her Hogwarts letter and soon after was sorted into Ravenclaw. With the guidance of older students, she began to experiment with potions, enjoying the challenge of creating something new. She met Ernest as a fourth year when they were both partnered in a duel. She found him arrogant and frustrating and actively stayed away from him for the remainder of her time at Hogwarts. You can imagine her surprise when she graduated and began an apprenticeship as a junior potioneer only to find she would be working alongside him. Time and maturity led them to put their differences aside and eventually fall for each other.
Ernest Hercyne Silverberry
Father
Ernest was born and raised in the charming town of Erwinstowe. The eldest of four boys, he grew up a natural leader and grew used to being in charge. He brought this energy to Hogwarts. It served him well to many Ravenclaws, but he did make a fair share of enemies as well. It wasn't until his apprenticeship after graduation that he was forced to learn to take a back seat. He almost didn't recognize Francine when she started working under him,but quickly grew smitten with her. He spent the better part of six months wooing her with candies, flowers, and other fancies. When this got him nowhere, he switched to growing his own rare potions ingredients and offering them to her, which worked much better and led them to their current romance.
