Owl to Family

Reducio
To my beloved father,
Based on my understanding, you’ll be receiving this letter by owl. I can already imagine how confused you must be to receive your daughter’s letter by owl instead of normal mail, but isn’t it more magical this way? There’s a certain intrigue that comes with it. I also believe that the oddity of the situation will reassure you that Hogwarts isn’t a ruse; after all, I remember how much you worried about whether or not it had been fake. I don’t blame you for thinking that, but please trust me when I say that it’s real, and that I’m doing well. Hogwarts has been nothing short of wonderful, and I think I really like it here.
On the train ride, I befriended two boys, who let me share their compartment as everywhere else had been full. A relief, really, considering I had disturbed their chat midway through. Thankfully, you’ll be happy to know that they’re both nice. Wolfe Silverstone and Robin Lockett are their names, and I really enjoyed their company. After the train ride, we separated. I haven’t seen Wolfe around as much, but Robin and I have become good friends. He’s sort of quiet like me, and we’re both in Ravenclaw. Speaking of, Ravenclaw is where the smart people got sorted into.. By a hat of all things. Odd right? I don’t quite feel smart, but I like the people I’m with. It’s also good since I have Robin by my side.
Aside from Robin, I also made two other friends in Ravenclaw. Alexander Zolotov is a boy I met in the common room, and he’s really skittish. To be completely honest, he’s somehow more anxious than me, which is really saying something. I’ve been trying to learn how to navigate his space without making him feel bad, and it’s been a journey, but I’m glad we’re friends. The other person I befriended is named Andrea Woodsburn. She’s my roommate, and she also loves books like me! She’s had no exposure to the muggle world—muggle being the term used for those without magic—so we talk about books from each other’s world. It’s really nice.
I can’t believe I’ve made so many friends either, but I’m really happy here, Dad. One day, I’ll introduce my friends to you somehow.
Love,
Corrine
