Cleaning for Candy
It was a dark and stormy night at greenhouse one; which was odd considering the bright spring weather that had been promised. The very spring weather that had inspired this cleaning chore. Donald had been suckered into volunteering to clean the greenhouse despite his fears of the place and despite his dislike for herbology in general. As a Hufflepuff student it had been such a cliche way to make him sell-out: he was offered candy in exchange for his work.
Slime of unknown sources fogged the windows alongside the usual dust and dirt. The floor of the greenhouse was starting to get reclaimed by nature with all the dirt and plant waste scattered about. Broken ceramic pots laid in ruin like a civilization long forgotten and overpowered by the forest. In other words, this place was a mess.
Donald was not alone in this labor. A girl from another house had been dragged in as well. Her motivations were not clear but Donald would almost bet this fellow child was also fooled with chocolate. Though a Ravenclaw girl might be like Bloom, stuck up and helping just to feel superior. The Hufflepuff tried his best not to pre-judge her though as he surveyed the damage.
"Um... Hi." He would greet her simply, "I'm Don."
As a first year, there were not many spells Donnie could possibly know to fix this problem. His mind hardly knew how to breathe and walk at the same time. Spells were few and hardly mastered. All he could think of at the moment was the mending charm to fix the pots. The rest would be muggle labor like when he was even smaller. Disgusting!
"I don't want my robes to get dirty so..," Don said to himself as he considered the mess ahead of them, pointing his wand at himself. "Multicorfors!"
Donald's favorite spell, the clothes changing charm, would magically transform his robes. Instead of a well polished hufflepuff robe he was suddenly wearing a white t-shirt with paint stains, rugged black jeans with paint stains, boots with paint stains, and a ratty baseball cap with paint stains. Everything was also splattered with paint that stained onto the clothes like an old house painter. He was ready to get to work.

Cleaning for Candy

Why did Seul agree to this? Having not done many chores growing up, the girl continually surprises herself with her unorthodox decisions. Her time spent at Hogwarts has certainly mellowed her delicate and conceited character. There was always a chance that her parents would discipline her after finding out how low her behavior stooped during her time away from the manor, though Seul learned to care less about that. The risible reason why the girl agreed to Professor MacTavish’s errand was simply the reward. Chocolate quickly grew to the top of her favorite delicacies ever since her brother “accidentally” threw a truffle into her mouth while she went for a bite of Treacle Tart. One can only imagine her ecstasy when she discovered chocolate frogs. Consequently, her desire to get her hands on the chocolate frogs overpowered her dignity as a pure-blood as she stood in Greenhouse One ready to clean.
It was late at night and the weather was horrible. The downpour was heavier than Seul had witnessed before, pitting the glass roof of the greenhouse like gumdrops falling from the sky. The internal mess of the glass building only added to the discomfort of the girl. Her poised complexion shifted into a grimace as she scanned the dusty and grimy room. Was this worth the six chocolate frogs the professor offered? She wasn’t so sure anymore.
Her assigned partner seemed like the average bothersome kid, with blonde hair and… silver pieces on his teeth? The boy was most likely a muggle, given his looks and the mysterious metal pieces in his mouth. Nonetheless, the girl made up her mind that she would allow the boy to do most of the dirty work. “You can call me Seul,” the girl responded to his introduction. The boy then cast a charm that changed his robes into a very abominable look. The look on Seul’s face reflected that of disgust, although she quickly shifted back to her usual emotionless guise as to avoid the boy catching her judging him. His expression seemed eager to begin, thus the girl simply crossed her arms and waited for the boy to begin working.
