Her tanned skin shows at first sight Ivy’s South American origins. She is a rather thin and tall girl with dark hair. Her bright face is adorned with sharp green eyes. Furthermore her wide smile expresses all the mischief she’s able to execute.
Personality:
• Ivy likes Quidditch and dreams of having a pet.
• She dislikes botany and above all she detests when she has to learn something she’s not interested in.
• Ivy is rather an introverted girl but who tries to hide her uncertainty with mischief. She plays the piano and she’s also very proud because she speaks English and Spanish.

Pre-Hogwarts background:
Ivy is born on 2nd November in Newtyle, Scotland. She is the only daughter of Alejandra Cruz and Leonard Grant who are very protective of her. They had educated her until she was five and then they employed a preceptor who had to teach her a magical initiation and some elements about the Muggle culture – something that really doesn’t interest her as she has never met a Muggle. Furthermore, Micheal Miller, who is one of her parents’ best friends sometimes taught her how to play the piano. But all of this was seen as foolishness by Ivy who just wanted to go out in their huge garden to run, to jump and to shout. What interests her is to discover the world, and her grandparents understood it while she was still a little girl because she could spent all the day hurting the bay window to go into the garden. As they live in the same village, they used to come and look after her while Ivy’s parents were working – Alejandra is a legal consultant and Leonard is a professor. Yet, once she was with her grandparents, she escaped their vigilance and rode her mother’s broomstick and tried to fly but as she was only eight, she just hit a tree and fell on the floor. Then she had to go to St Mungo’s Hospital, but worse than that, her parents told her not to run during a certain time that they always and always extended, pretending her aunt who works at St Mungo's said that, to make sure she wouldn’t do such a stupidity again. Moreover, she can’t really run in case of – as she believes – her knee gets blocked so she had to give up her dream of playing Quidditch when she is at Hogwarts.
The first time she used magic was after she turned five. While Michael was trying to teach her how to play a classical music she couldn’t be concentrate and therefore she did not succeed in playing it. The family’s friend was angry because she didn’t listen to him at all. Ivy suddenly became furious and without touching the piano, a deafening noise sounded in the house. It was more like a very low-pitched rock and roll music. Alejandra and Leonard were first surprised and mad at their angry daughter but then they realised this unintended music meant she was a witch and they were relieved.
Ivy is a dark-haired girl whose skin is tanned and that hates to learn because of her parents and who just do the minimum required to be accepted to Hogwarts – Leonard once told her she wouldn’t be able to go to Hogwarts if she didn’t work enough. Something she hates above all is botany whereas she dreams of having a pet to not feel alone anymore. She likes Quidditch but as she can’t practice it, the young girl watches it with her grandparents. Globally introverted, Ivy is very loyal, perfectionist and rational although she’s also malicious and reckless. Last but not least, as her mother is from Mexico she speaks English and Spanish.

Mother – Alejandra Grant (Cruz) (Mexican origin, has acquired the Scottish nationality): was born and grew up in Jamapa, near Veracruz in the Gulf of Mexico. She studied at the school of magic Ilvermony, in the Thunderbird house and was graduated with the honours. Then Alejandra came back to Mexico where she specialised in the research about spirits and their magical regulation. After that she became a legal consultant at the Scottish magical law school, where she also teaches Spanish. She gave birth to Ivy at 34. Her daughter is a treasure that Alejandra always wants to protect even if the girl would like to be freer. Last, as Armando and Diana, Ivy’s mother tends to speak Spanish at home.
Father – Leonard Grant: was born in Newburgh, next to Aberdeen in a very noble family among which he felt uncomfortable. Once at Hogwarts, the Sorting Hat sent him to Hufflepuff because his altruism was, according to it, “exemplary”. During his school years, he developed a passion for History of Magic and followed his studies at the English magical university. The fame of his family enabled Leonard to become professor at the Scottish magical law school. Ivy’s father is really uncompromising and wants her to became a very good student. Thus, when Ivy disobeys him, he sometimes turns profoundly distant.
Alejandra and Leonard met at the beginning of their career at the magical law school, when they were 29 and 27. Both are passioned by their job and appreciate to share their knowledge. They had desired a child during a long time before Ivy was born, and that’s the reason why the little girl is a joy symbol for them. Even if they’re very different, their families have nobility and a far sorcerer origin in common.

Maternal grandmother – Diana Cruz (Sanchez): before her daughter, she also went to Ilvermony but she was sorted in the Horned Serpent house and mainly studied divination. She became a famous researcher in prophecies some years later while she was breeding the young Alejandra. Yet, a very unexpected event puts an end to her career: nineteen years after Ivy’s mother was born, as Diana was about to turn 41, she gave birth to another child called Juan – aka Juanito. Diana first continued to work but when Juan was 3 and asked for more and more attention, she decided to spend more time with him. Then, when Juan finished his studies at Ilvermony, Diana strongly insisted to move to Scotland because she wanted to see her little “Chiquita” more often. The Mama rapidly became a second mother for Ivy because she spends a lot of time at home and also because – as she had noticed Alejandra’s overprotection – she let Ivy freer, so they developed a complicit relationship.
Maternal grandfather – Armando Cruz: from a humble family, he went to the Thunderbird house at Ilvermony school where he met his wife. Armando is really good at repairing magical wands. He opened a shop in his garden that flourished year after year. This unstoppable man was really sad to move to Scotland because his work was very important to him, but Diana’s welfare was even more important, and furthermore he was rather impatient – even if he didn’t admit it – to live next to his daughter. Once in Scotland, he rapidly found a wands shop to work in and when he doesn’t work, he is glad to share his passion with Ivy.
Maternal uncle – Juan Cruz: is also known as “Chiquito”, or “Juanito”. He was carefully bred by his mother before coming to Ilvermony in the Horned Serpent house. He was really disturbed when Diana decided to move to Scotland but fortunately, he could integrate the school of journalism that he dreamt of. He lives and works in London but when Juan comes back to Newtyle, it is like a celebration day. As he is the youngest uncle of Ivy, he embodies a model to follow according to Ivy. So, rather like a big brother, Ivy often tells him when she is sad or upset.
Paternal grandmother – Elizabeth Grant (Davis): from a very noble origin, Elizabeth went to Slytherin and spent most of her time boasting her pure-blood ancestry. She didn’t study after Hogwarts and helped in a wizard charity association as did her mother during her all life. At the same time, she tried to give the best education to her three children: Ethan, Leonard and Emily. Thus, she is the kind of grandmother that tells you how to breed your children – which is something Leonard hates. Ivy doesn’t see her grandmother a lot, but when she is with her, she tries to behave as the perfect granddaughter.
Paternal grandfather – Stuart Grant: also went to Slytherin as an ambitious and committed man. He followed a political cursus and became a member of the European Wizard Organisation. His career represents all his life and as a busy man, he doesn’t stay at home more than three days a week. To Ivy, he is a cunning and intelligent man but she thinks he is also very selfish because he always speaks about his job.
Paternal uncle – Ethan Grant: is a very proud and selfish man who was also sorted in Slytherin. If he has inherited of his parent’s defaults, Ethan is however weaker than them. He followed his father’s political cursus but his career stopped at the rank of assistant in the Ministry. Ethan is married with Lauren and they’ve given two cousins to Ivy: Owen and Victoria. They are both very pretentious and condescending, so Ivy doesn’t detest them but she wouldn’t talk to them by herself.
Paternal aunt – Emily Taylor (Grant): is the latest child of the Grants and received the best education. She early showed the qualities of a Ravenclaw student, and that worried Ethan who grew jealous. She achieved her school years at Hogwarts with the honours. A few years later Emily started to work at St Mungo’s where she met Spike Taylor. Ivy likes pretty much her aunt because she is different from the rest of her family. Both get linked after Ivy had to come to the hospital to heal her leg.
Preceptor – Matthew Thorne: is a young man recently graduated from a science university. While he is doing some researches about poisons and antidotes, he is forced to earn money by teaching young wizards. Alejandra and Leonard chose him because he is a trustworthy and an awesome man. Above all, Matthew is passionate and Leonard hopes he will succeed in teaching Ivy despite her reluctance.
