Opeila was one of the students who stayed in Hogwarts over the easter holidays. There was no point for her to go home, nothing waited for her there, except a depressed and disappointed father and a grandmother, who Opeila loved unconditionally, but who didn't exactly know how to celebrate easter. Worst of all was that Opeila's mother wouldn't be there. She was at the St. Mungos, still slumbering.
So the Slytherin chose to stay at Hogwarts and have a lonely, but somehow peaceful easter. The castle was not so crowded in the easter holidays.

That was also the reason for Opeila having a rather quiet breakfast. She had leaned an opened book against a bowl of cereal and read in it while sipping hot chocolate. That was what Opeila saw as a great morning. No one bothering her, it was just great. Additionally the first year had seen her head of house eating in the great hall as well, what didn't really happen that often. But for Opeila it was another positive factor, since the private chat in Professor Jensen's office, she liked her head of house around. It calmed her that the Professor knew what she knew, that she didn't have to carry her worries alone. Or- not all of them at least.

Opeila turned the page of her book, but accidently hit the cover so it fell off the table. The first year tried to catch it and almost poured her drink over her cloak doing so. Sighing she put the cup down and reached under the table to pick up her book. How did it even fall that far?
BANG!
The loud singing made the little girl wince so much, she hit the back of her head on the table. She sat up again and put the book on the table, her free hand carefully examining the spot where her head hit the table. She shot a quick look to her head of house, who... was facepalming... before she looked to the door. What the hell...? Why did he have to sing so loud, whoever that was, a sixth or seventh year, maybe? The voice sounded too mature for a young student.

Then she saw the Head of the Badgers shuffling across the corridor.

Opeila didn't know if she should laugh or be concerned... So she sat there for a moment, frowning, something that looked like the beginning of a smile on her face.
And then she started to laugh. This was hilarious, never had she seen a professor losing control like that. But it was great. Somehow it was calming to see a professor not looking like they would all die for once.

Still giggling Opeila took her book and got off the bench to join the audience in the small hall.
There were quite a few students watching the Professor, some looking rather confused, two looking like they had just fallen on top of each other and many of them laughing like herself. Opeila decided to walk over to two Hufflepuff boys who seemed quite amused about their head of house's behaviour.
"Hey uh... Do you know what is going on? Is he alright?", she shouted grinning, man, this megaphone made it hard for her to hear her own words even.
Now she recognized one of the boy. He was the guy who made a show of jumping into Burnett's pool.

Like some of the others, Zykeal was in the middle of eating. A Boxty to be exact, one of his favorite foods in the world. Who would think? An Irish kid loving potatoes. Looking across the great all at all the others in the area, he didn't recognize anyone of course, but that was ok with him. It was hard for him to make friends here, so far. Noticing one of the figures at the head table, he saw that it was one of the head of house, probably the Slytherin. Just as he was sizing the head of house up, a loud noise started up and a song that he sort of recognized started to be sung.

In the middle of half a bite of his meal, his eyes bulged and slowly canted their way over towards the hall where the singing seemed to be coming from. When the singing kept approaching where he was, seated in the great all, Zykeal subconsciously started to nod his head in sync with the singing man's music. Shoulders would also start to sway as he saw other students rush to see what was going on. One thing that Zyk was, was a music man.

Not caring who was around, he dropped his Boxty and pursed his lips together as he started to stand from where he was sat. "Oh yeah, it's go time", he said aloud. Nodding his head more in sync of the music he stood up completely and saw as the head of the Hufflepuff came skidding into the doors of the great all. Swaying his body from side to side, the 11-year-old must have looked ridiculous, he didn't mind though. Dancing was in his veins.

Lids closed and he just swayed back and forth as he listened to the man sing such a catchy song. Feet lifted off the floor and he shifted from side to side, mouthing the song as best as he could remember as the professor sung the song. There wasn't a thought in his head besides enjoying this moment, if not with others then by himself. The young auburn-haired boy would continue to dance his little jig as long as he could.

Maria had woken up early on that day, opting to go for a morning walk on the grounds before stopping by the lake to see if she could catch a glimpse of the giant squid. She wasn’t able to go home for the holidays, her mother deciding it would help her adjust if she spent more time at Hogwarts. It was a cold day, and most of the people in the castle were taking it slow. Eventually the young Hufflepuff found herself in the Great Hall with a few students, all of them having breakfast. At some point the buzz of morning chatter was interrupted by music blasting from the speakers.

“Oh, it’s one of those old people songs.” Maria laughed.

Her father used to play songs like these in their car. Wherever they’d go there were songs from the 70s or 80s or whatever decade not from this century he wanted to listen to. A fleeting thought asking “But why?” crossed her mind, but at this point she learned to just go with the flow when things like this happened. So with a shrug she went back to her food. A few bites later Maria picked up her bag and started to head back to her dorm. When she was halfway towards the door, the song still blearing on, Professor Caradoc Browne suddenly appeared, crossing the expanse of the doorway in some sort of side ways shuffle dad dance that made the young Hufflepuff want to cry and laugh at the same time.

She stopped in her tracks, eyes wide and jaw hanging in mortification. After giving herself a sharp pinch, she realized that she was very awake and that their Head of House was in fact dancing around the castle like a retro pop induced fever dream. After a brief moment of confusion she realized she had a chance to witness something rare. A professor dancing in the hallways! She briskly walked towards the door and proceeded to follow her Head of House as he continued his dance party down the hall, lost in the music. (She walked as she did this, deciding the castle didn’t need more dancing badgers in the hallway).

It all started just like any other normal morning at Hogwarts - that is to say, Jake was trying in vain to reason with one of his bigger room-mates but no matter how much he pouted he couldn't seem to get through to him, and only got a hand in the face for his troubles. He stomped his foot with a frustrated huff, when suddenly around the corner slid the Hufflepuff patriarch. Jake set forward at once for the promise of grown-up intervention.

"Professor Browwwwwwne!" Jake whined, coming forth to get his attention and pointing at his biggest room-mate. "Jack took my--- mh...?"

The tiny Hufflepuff paused - the sounds of music washing over him as he realized for the first time what he was hearing. His head began to bob. He hadn't heard this song before - he'd never heard any music playing at Hogwarts like this. Professor Browne was dancing and soon Jake found his toes tapping to the beat. As the man began to sing Jake grinned. The music was happy and bright, something about blue skies, and Professor Browne's dancing was contagious.

Jack tapped his cheek and then Jake set off behind the two of them, mesmerized and nodding along. A girl came over and asked if they knew what was going on - Jake didn't, so he shrugged his shoulders, but by now he couldn't stop wiggling along the music. When they made it to the great hall, he spotted Alan and gave him a bright wave. It felt like all of his worries had melted away, as he danced in behind his head of house (who by now probably looked much like the pied piper).

Annie had stood up rather quickly and rubbed her head, feeling a slight pounding from colliding with the girl. She probably head-butted her in the lip, thus busting it. The girl watched as more people had been disturbed by their head of house's weird antics. The girl winced at the other girl's tone when she spoke to her. "Again, I'm sorry, it wasn't my fault that our Head of House is being idiotic." The Hufflepuff lost her cool and snapped at the other girl before hearing another voice and sheepishly looking up to see a girl approach her asking if she was alright.

Annie got up and stared blankly at the girl before she pointed back to the one behind her still on the floor. A small lopsided smile landed on her face. Well I'm alright but Caradoc isn't, and nor is my friend here.." She nodded her head to the girl, having maybe seen her face somewhere. "Annie Morgan, Quddich Chaser, Prefect and Second Year and the whole works.." The girl greeted the more polite of the two that were surrounding by her.

She had regained enough of her composure to glance around at the gathered faces, seeing her fellow Prefect Jack hop right along with the fun and join the old badger dance. "Oh lord have all the Hufflepuff men lost their minds.. A small figure, also known as the baby badger himself, Jake popped out of the crowd and followed Jack. Annie let out a disappointed sigh. She found herself nodding to the beat of the music, almost like she was in a trance before shaking her head. "Well the old man's got a good taste in music, that's for sure, but I'm not joining in on that train wreck.." Annie let out a scoff and rolled her eyes.

Her laugh was breathless and hysterical at this point, "I- I- ha-ve no i-d-ea!" She managed to mumble out of her mouth through her laughter. She clutched her stomach that started to ache as she was laughing perhaps way too hard. Serena had literally just not bothered to actually get off the floor. Browne's push was too gentle to actually knock her down, despite her small frame but she had laughed so far that she fell to the floor. Quite literally, rolling on the floor with laughter.

"I have absolutely no bloody clue but it's so bloody brilliant!" She repeated, after a few moments of trying to catch her breathe so she could actually talk and respond to Saskia. Serena knew better than to presume Hogwarts would ever be boring. There was drama and unnecessary danger happening at every turn. However, she had never once expected this. No matter how much she expected the unexpected, this never crossed her mind.

Her Head of House was definitely capable of surprising her. And he was quickly growing on her. Perhaps he was actually much better than the former heads. She found herself head bopping along to the sound of the song. Serena had no idea what song it actually was but she really was enjoying it. It was very catchy - and the dancing was contagious. "Come on! Let's go catch up!" Serena added, as she managed to push herself up from the floor and calming down.

Browne had probably left by now but she ran down the corridor, jumping out of the way of the bystanders to avoid knocking any of them over. She did not wait for Saskia but she totally tried to drag her along by motioning for her to follow. Either way, she would catch up with the Hufflepuff Head of House, and any of the dancing followers, and join in the dancing by basically doing a big fish, little fish, cardboard box, then big fish, big fish, little fish, little fish and cardboard box... and repeat.

The third year was quickly distracted when two familiar faces passed by. One would be the kid that kissed Willow, Jack and the other one was Jake. As he followed their actions and saw them join their Head of House, the third year warmed up to all of this even more. Still there was tiny bits of doubt clouding his mind that were quickly cast away when Jake waved at him as if he was inviting him to join. That was all Alan needed to join in.

His gaze drifted to Caradoc, his own pointer finger already tapping against his pant leg in the rhythm of the melody of an unfamiliar tune. But music was a language with a tact easily figured out. Even Jake began dancing and after giving his surroundings a last glance he tapped his foot onto the ground and moved. Other than Jake and Jack he decided against just following the man's dance steps, he did not know him enough for that and could not predict any next movement, but Alan remembered all the lessons his parents had him go through. Growing up it was the only thing fun to do, except for pair dances which was boring and unnecessary. But Alan felt in his element as he slid across the floor joining in the Head of House's madness. Exercise in the morning was healthy is what he had been told before and dancing made it all the more fun.

He was dependent on the voice, the lyrics that were sung from none other than the badger chief as he moved along, cheeks burning red in focus and excitement. With music in the head one had nothing left to think about, which was the main reason the young lion enjoyed moments such as these so much. While the professor decided to play his air guitar, the third year would occasionally snap his fingers in moment the song made it appropriate as he shuffled and danced within the crew. If he would regret this later or not, no thought or attention was paid to that in just those moments.

He followed the group more or less, Jake having waved to follow and caught up in the rhythm and dancing the third year could not help but to do so. His original plan, getting some food was forgotten in the moment and as he reached closer to the two Hufflepuff boys he knew the best. "A-Any i-i-idea where w-we are h-headed?", he asked without addressing either of them in particular, leaving it open for either of them to respond. His voice sounded short of breath, the dancing taking a toll on his capability to speak freely.

Students began to gather around. An audience? While the thought amused the badger and reminded him of old times, this wasn't what he was looking for. No, it was the music, the thrill of movement and song. Locking his arms in the air, Doc knocked his head from side to side to the rhythm of the music. There was nothing else like it. It had been so long since he had felt like this. Carefree, as one would say.

Arms spread out, Doc tried to control the flow of students circling around him near the great hall's entrance. With a smooth transition, he locked into position and did a little step dance. His grin couldn't grow any wider as he noticed some of his badgers join in. Even a few of the other houses? It seemed kids these days weren't lost forever after all! He'd wave over to those not yet tapping their feet or shooting him the most confused faces.

Given a few of them had actually been able to find their tapping shoes, he ought to give them something to work with. Or so he figured. Pointing out Serena Towers in the crowd, he pointed his finger to come closer and follow his suit. Without any warning he'd twirl on the top of his feet, hoping to see the girl do the same before he went and packed out his best dad moves. The man knew most of these kids wouldn't get it. But the idea was simply to have the silliest kind of fun there was to be had. Coming back to a stop, his hands folded together and formed a rapid wave motion. As he saw the two badger boys standing by, he winked to them to come up next.

With the first song coming to an end, only Caradoc knew what was going to happen next. A wide grin appearing on his face, the man shuffled backwards as he conjured a set of sunglasses on his face. Finally entering the great hall through the main group of students assembled at the door. The professor turned right to the Ravenclaw table where one of them would be trying to read a book.

His fingers would rapidly find their place on the imaginary piano keys as the first notes of music rung through the speakers. Caradoc would smile at the student next to him, whether they'd be returning the favour or scolding him for interrupting their morning calculus. A second set of notes followed soon after. "Just take those old records off the shelf!" He almost shouted initially before gradually getting back into a smoother singing voice. "I'll sit and listen to 'em by m'self" He jumped up from the bench and twirled around the Ravenclaw kid, clapping his hands along the way. "Today's music ain't got the same soul. I like that old time rock and roll"

Perhaps some would not have seen Doc as an agile man no longer, some had guessed him older than he was after all. But with on quick jump from the bench on to the table, he proved there was still a clock ticking in this man. He snapped his fingers at Jack and Jake. It was their time now. Without any regard for anything other than the music and the moment, he showed the boys how to follow get in line. In one synchronised walk, they'd bop their heads to the music as they marched forward across the table.

Glen had just been minding his own business, eating breakfast at the Slytherin table. He had come down alone this morning, having been more interested in taking the scenic route – maybe he'd discover something new about this school even though he'd been here for over two and a half years now, but then he doubted one could know everything there was about the school after the full seven years – than he'd been in having company, so he had been sitting on his own, munching on some breakfast when he first heard the singing.

At first, he thought maybe he had randomly gotten a song stuck in his head (wouldn't be the first time) but it sounded... off. Was that only singing without any music? Not a song he'd heard somewhere sometime at some point and subconsciously remembered, then.

Realizing that the song was really not just inside his head, Glen forgot all about his breakfast – freezing with his fork halfway to his mouth, the piece of black pudding he'd been about to eat dangling precariously on said fork on the verge of falling back onto his plate – and peered around curiously to see if he could find the source of the commotion.

Noticing others staring toward the open doors of the Great Hall he followed their gaze and ---

As any student would've expected, Breana's day would be a quiet time in the Great Hall: Getting her munchies on, while reading up on a new book whilst ignoring the ones that she has on hand. This time she has an obviously titled book named, "So You Wanna Be a Writer?" She didn't expect to pick up such a book, but because of a certain owl she received, might as well start hitting such books, right?

She went into the Great Hall, the book in hand with her usual tiny strut. Then she heard... music? Been a while since she heard music. She scratched her ear, making sure she wasn't going cuckoo for a second there. Last time Breana heard such melodies was back in the pop-up talent show. Is there some sort of event that she didn't hear of? Then she heard a bellowing voice.

She blinked her eyes in surprise to see none other than the Papa Badger himself, Caradoc Browne, dancing and grooving to the bops of the music. Breana has never properly met the man, so she doesn't know if this was normal behavior for the professor. One part of her mind is concerned for the Hufflepuff Head's wellbeing, while the other wants to dance up a storm along with him. Unfortunately for the little girl, the other side got the better of her-- the one that chose to get back to her first goal: reading the book in the Great Hall.

As she made her way to the Ravenclaw table, Breana's feet couldn't help but dance a bit to the rhythm of the music. She was a tap-dancer, after all, so the music does have a little effect on the tiny Ravenclaw. Breana doesn't fully recognize the song being played, but it was familiar to her, hearing it a couple of times as background music that her father picked in her family bookshop. She felt a tint of nostalgia as the last of the chorus blew up again.

"No!" She thought to herself. "I gotta hit this book if I'm gonna be a writer... Study first, dancing later, Breana!" She then sat down the Ravenclaw table, her feet still melodically tapping away as she tried to bury her head in the book. For a moment, she felt relieved as she heard the first song die down... Until another came bopping up the halls instead. This one is in the familiar category of Breana's memory bank, and a rather bumping one at that.

Breana slowly peeked up from her book, seeing the scene unfold again. This time a few familiar faces joined in on the scene-- None other than Jake, Alan and Jack, her swimming buds back in the pool party. Now her little body is itching for her to dance with the lads. Thankfully (or rather, unfortunately, depending on how one would look at it), the maestro himself Caradoc Browne stopped by the Ravenclaw table, urging her and a few other students to join in on the fun. He brought the dance party over onto the table, with the boys following suit.

Well, maybe Breana can study another time. She closed her book and tucked it away in her robe. With some added flourish, she hopped on top of the table as well (much to the annoyance of her fellow Ravenclaws), and danced along with the Professor. She waved hello to the boys, finally showing off her dancing prowess. Thanks to those tap dancing lessons, Breana got a sense of rhythm that occurred naturally as she bopped along to the Head of the Hufflepuff House.
