Toni strolled down a hill, the green grass, about ready for a trim, brushed against her ankles, tickling the bare skin. She had just left Charms class, and wasn’t feeling particularly hungry, so she elected for a stroll on the grounds.
Despite it being late March, the weather felt more like early June. She closed her eyes as she felt the sun envelope her in a toasty hug. Losing herself in the smell of the pollinated air and the overwhelming feeling of sunshine, Toni was in an endorphin induced stupor. She didn’t realize she had made her way to the Great Lake until she nearly fell in it.
Her chocolate eyes popped open with a jolt as she felt the tips of her shoes dampen. She stepped back, alarmed at the sudden coldness of the waves and removed her now slightly soggy flats with a laugh.
She removed her book bag from her shoulder, plopping down and digging her feet into the sand. She leaned back onto her hands, eyes shutting once again as the overwhelming feeling of summer was sinking into her very bones.
After a few minutes of drowsily enjoying herself as the small ripples nipped at her toes, she turned to her bag and began taking out supplies for homework. She loosened her tie and unbuttoned the top of her Hufflepuff uniform, hoping for a sun-kissed glow after her study period was over. She tucked her long brown hair behind her ear whilst pulling out a piece of parchment, a quill, and her Charms textbook as she began to write her essay.

AJ sighed as he strolled along the grass with his class companion. "Look peersonully I thenk ut's rather unfeer tha proonuncin' eh Cheerm currectleh means nay huvin' en accen'!" He complained, still rather sour about his experience in attempting to cast the very precise and fiddly form of spellwork. Yes he was sure he and Charm would not get along particularly well, but at the very least Lark had offered to help him study for it, which was nice of her.
"Oh un wasn' tha Prufesser jus' so smug!" He was about to continue when he noticed his raised voice was probably going to disturb the girl sitting beside the great lake happily working away at something. He was unsure whether or not she was open to being disturbed but it seemed like now was a good time to get to know some more first years before everybody was so closed off with all their cliques and groups.
He approached the girl tentatively, but with a smile on his face. "Hullo theer! D'ya meend uf weh sut wuth ye?" He asked, hoping she would at least somewhat understand what he was trying to say. If she consented to their presence he would plop himself down next to her and extend his hand to shake.
"Am AJ, and thus us Laerk!" He explained, introducing both himself and his friend. Ah hoop am reeght un prusumen' tha' yer a furst yeer? Leek us!" He asked her. "Ah cen tull yer a badger et tha' vury leest." He said with a grin, hoping he wasn't just rambling at the poor girl.
He looked to Lark, allowing her some time to make conversation as well.

Who was Jarleth Hobart, and what were the two incidents that made of him a rather ridiculous spectacle among wizarding kind?
Toni squinted at the question, vaguely remembering the answer, but gravitating towards the urge to search for it in her textbook, just in case she was incorrect. Setting her parchment to the side to ascertain her answer, Toni sighed when a warm gust of wind softly swept over her. Ah could reely ge' used ta this she thought as the tension daily classwork brought her melted away. That is, until her parchment was carried away by the burst of wind. She lurched forward, just barely managing to grasp her paper, sighing in relief. Just behind her parchment Toni saw two figures walking somewhat towards her. Lowering her hand, she caught sight of a boy and a girl, who looked to be about her age. The boy had pale skin and a mop of curly brown hair on his head. He towered over the girl next to him, her blonde hair flowing in the wind.
Not wanting to disturb them, she once again faced the small waves created by the wind, and turned back to her charms. Shortly after this, she overheard the boy with what appeared to be ranting. Trying not to listen in, Toni only caught half of his rambling.
Not looking up, Toni continued on with her homework. She certainly understood the woes of being Scottish in a class based on pronunciation. Although, it appeared he had a much harder time than she did. She supposed she had to thank her parents for moving the family around so much, it greatly incapacitated her Scottish drawl. Pushing theses thoughts out of her mind and focusing on productivity, she didn't focus on the couple again until she heard the boy make a comment that sounded like it was directed at her. It sounded much closer too...proonuncin' eh Cheerm currectleh means nay huvin' en accen'! Oh un wasn' tha Prufesser jus' so smug!
Toni looked up, quite surprised. "Oh! A'course yoo can join meh!" Toni invited, quickly absorbing this newfound presence. She took in the new details of these people, now much closer. The boy, who had introduced himself as AJ, had a deep blue gaze that appeared quite friendly. And the girl, Lark, had a pair of striking golden eyes. Those eyes seemed quite familiar, the name too. Toni had to have known this girl from somewhere, but where exactly she couldn't pinpoint. Suddenly, it dawned on Toni like a slap to the face. "Didnae think Ah'd ever be seein' yoo agin." She quipped with a drawl. "Ah'm Toni, by tha wey." She directed towards AJ, sticking out her hand in greeting.

Charms class was always an interesting series of events when the Professor had them practicing spells. Especially when she was seated next to her friend who she swore had the thickest accent she had ever heard in her life. She sympathized with him some, her own lilt getting in the way occassionally. Mostly they were bothersome with vowels but her constant practice even just muttering herself to sleep in the dorms had seemed to really pay off. Today seemed like an exceptionally frustrating day for her friend and as hard as she tried to fight the urge, his rantings still drew out a laughter from the young Ravenclaw.
"Don't worry by sixth year I'll 'ave ye levitatin' pianos in no time!" Lark nudged at the boy's side as they walked through the grounds. It felt nice to get out and into the fresh air after feeling cooped up in the castle all winter. Even if it was a touch chilly when the wind swept past them, she was thankful for the sunshine's soft warmth. She covered her mouth and stifled another laugh as AJ went on about Professor Vernatis. Noticing the pause in his voice, Lark followed his gaze towards a girl not too far off in the direction they were headed.
Following her friend's lead trailing close behind as the pair approached the dark haired girl. Lark couldn't get a good look at her face when they first came upon her, but she assumed she was most likely a first or second year. Smiling, she gave a wave of her hand as AJ introduced her and nodded in greeting hoping they weren't interrupting anything. "H-hey there!"
Oh! A'course yoo can join meh!
Relieved they hadn't stumbled on her at a bad time, Lark stared at the girl for a moment... why did she seem so familiar? Trying not to make it obvious she blinked a couple times and gave a nervous smile before smoothing out her gray skirt and taking a seat next to AJ. She stretched her legs out in front of her and looked back to the Hufflepuff. She really did seem familiar... somewhere.. Lark knew her from somewhere. Feeling like they were both exchanging quizzical glances back and forth the other girl seemed to come upon the memory in the same instant Lark had.
"Me either!" Toni! She had beat her to it. Sitting up straighter the girl's hair tinted a brighter shade of gold along with her excited demeanor. Waiting for Toni to introduce herself to AJ, she nodded towards the girl. "We met o'er break in Cork!" She had thought off and on about the meeting ever since then, but just assumed Toni had been a Muggle. What a pleasant surprise! "I can't believe yer here! I 'ad no idea ye would be here too. Are ye a first year? Were ye in Charms with us?" Repeating AJ's question now even more curious if she was the same year as them, Lark pulled her legs up underneath her and knelt to get a better view of the book Toni had with her. "Was tha'fer class?" She couldn't stop herself, too excited at being reunited with a possible new found friend.

"I can't believe yer here! I 'ad no idea ye would be here too. Are ye a first year? Were ye in Charms with us?"
Toni smiled, sensing the girl's rise in excitement. Nodding, she shifted towards towards the pair, setting her charms book on the grass beside her. " Aye, Ah'm a firs' year. Ya know, Ah had nay idea yoo were a witch." Toni continued, still processing the fact that this girl she never thought she would see again was now before her, in a completely different world. "As far as classes go, Ah donnae if Ah'm in Charm's with ya, Ah'll have to look for ya nex' time." Toni smiled cheerfully. This day was becoming quite eventful, in a way she was least expecting.
Lark began to lean in closer to Toni, studying the textbook Toni had beside her. Toni also noticed the girls hair seemed to have become a little brighter. Brushing it off as a trick of the sunlight, Toni turned back to her textbook. Picking up the large, leather bound book, she showed it to the pair. The title written golden cursive reflected the golden rays of the sun, making the words appear to be almost glowing. Book of Spells it read, with Miranda Goshawak directly below the title in the same vibrant gold, just a wee bit smaller. " Ah was jus' usin' i' tah double check maself. O's don' come easy ya know." She added with a smile, amused with their curiosity in her work. "Ya know, Ah understand charms jus' fine, bu' pronunciation can be a bi' tricky...well, Ah'm sure yoo understan'. " She nodded towards AJ, the boy appearing to have a similar affliction. " Ah could always help if ya need i'. " Toni continued, attempting to appear friendly towards the Scot.
Setting the book aside once more, although more towards the new comers this time, she began to roll up her parchment, she could always work on it later, after all, Wha's more impor'an'?Gettin' ahead on homework or makin' friends? Turning to the two beside her once more, she smiled happily, waiting for a response.
