First Day at Tenūsa
Alexander had completed his studies at the school of the day and decided to walk around the school. Even after weeks of study, the stone corridors of Tenūsa felt strange under his feet. All this was of a weird mixture of wonder and discipline--moving staircases, which crept about when he was not watching, far echoes of spells rehearsing themselves in empty rooms, portraits talking languages which he had not yet learned to interpret.
The evening breeze welcomed him with a cool breeze as he stepped outside. The sky over Tenūsa was blended in light hues of amber and violet and the sun was setting slowly behind the high towers. Alexander sighed. He was really missing his parents. He now missed the basic Muggle habits--walking home after school, hearing traffic in the distance, smelling food being cooked in familiar kitchens, even the dullness that he used to moan about.
All was different here. He no longer read about magic, it was a reality in life. And yet, in some instances such a difference made him feel that he stood between two worlds and that he did not belong to either. Nevertheless, he was unable to refute it--Tenūsa was a good change. Estrange, yet exciting. Each day seemed to be taking a step further into a story, which he had never imagined.
He lingered in the court, and observed other pupils as they learnt little spells that flashed like fireflies in the atmosphere. A mellow smile came over his face. Perhaps, he did not have to decide which life to leave behind and this new life. Perhaps this was his adventure--how to bear both worlds within himself without losing himself in either.
