Reconnecting

Elzabeth let his words sink in, sometimes Lamik could be smarter than he gave himself credit for. His comment about holding her back only proved how amazing he could be. "You're too kind Lamik, I honestly don't know where I would be without you or the others." She admitted.
Her friends had changed her life hopefully for the better. There was nowhere else in the whole world Elz wanted to be right now, not even home which was a place she found herself missing often more than not.
"The years not even over yet and I feel as though I'm a completely different person than I was back home." She wondered if her parents would notice, then worried that her mother wouldn't like the person she had turned into. Her Insomnia had gotten worse since the school year had begun and to add on top of that she had gotten into her first fight in several years.
A moment of silence passed between them before Elzabeth perked up with a question. "Do you think I've changed too much? Before coming here I've never really been in a fight before besides a small scuffle when I was little, and I was never really short with people but now even the smallest thing can make me mad." Elzabeth thought back to when someone had knocked her down in the hallway and she had responded with a nasty comment which she immediately apologized for.

"I just told you where you would be. Surrounded by adoring fans. Honestly, you should try listening to be sometimes." Lamik spoke in a joking tone and cocked his head to the side. He really wasn't sure what the heck she was so thankful to HIM for. As far as he knew, all that their friendship resulted in was her getting hurt and him feeling like an idiot. Not something you'd expect to be thanked for, thats for sure. Still, it didn't seem like the right time to ask, but he made sure to keep the question in mind for a future conversation.
The next few things she said immediately struck Lamik as strange. "What do you mean "Do you think I've changed too much"?" He said, frowning. "You're still exactly the same person. If there are any noticeable changes, they definitely aren't for the worse." The next words that came out of the boy's mouth had to be chosen carefully, but even then he knew they were risky. "You're the same person you were when we met. I promise. Just as nice, just as cheerful, just as..." Lamik's voice trailed off. "Nevermind. You're you, and you should be proud of that."
