| xxxxxxx | xxxxxxxxx𝕿he month of October had overturned Violence Bloodthorn’s life once again, and not for the better. She had barely gotten her old self back, the one yet to be tainted by Azzure Solace, but she had made the grave mistake of forgetting that this was Azzure. How the beautiful night of the ball had turned into something disastrous, Violence did not know. Pretty pearls and shimmering moonlight deformed into blackouts and deep cuts. Violence could still feel the sting on her finger, even though the wound had long healed. However, there was no escaping the situation and once again, she found herself wondering if Azzure would ever come back. Nothing about this felt right to Violence, but then again, it did not feel new either. Bailing was Azzure’s thing. There was nothing she could do and she had decided that she would not let it ruin her mental peace again. Yet, it took her some time to regain her composure. She was, after all, only almost twelve and was still unexposed to the harshness of emotions. By the month of December, she felt much better and Avina was surprised at the lack of dark circles under Violence’s eyes this time. The biting cold winds of the campus seemed to match the frost in her heart, and for once, she felt like she belonged. To what exactly, she did not understand, but she was happy. Every so often, she would see someone running down the corridor wearing a white hoodie and Violence’s neck would snap to see who it was. Each time she would be disappointed, but somewhere, relief washed through her body. She was not ready to face the Gryffindor again, and she had no empathy left in her to understand why Azzure had disappeared again, in the first place. And as always, just when everything appeared to be perfectly fine, another storm would present itself, ready to ruin everything in its wake. So when after a long conversation, it was decided that Azzure would be spending Christmas with Violence in Paris, she was beyond surprised. What was even more surprising was that the albino seemed to be… happy? Dare she say excited, to be spending time with Violence. She knew Avina and Damon would be against this – only they had seen Violence break down during the summer holidays, but how was she to refuse the pretty girl standing in front of her. And Azzure seemed different this time, like maybe her life was starting to be better. Violence was not entirely sure of what had been happening in Azzure’s life but seeing her in the hospital had scared her. Seeing her happy, seeing her alive felt amazing. This was, she decided, the perfect time to tell Azzure how she felt. No more beating around the bush, she would just tell her how she felt and then the ball would be in Azz’s court. Violence hoped Azzure felt the same way but there was always the lingering sense of fear of rejection. She could not let anything go haywire. This would have to be perfect. There had to be absolutely no scope of failure. And how did it matter that Violence was the one confessing first, right? If, by any chance, Azzure decided to leave her, at least she would not regret never articulating her sentiments. The universe seemed to be aligned with her thoughts and Violence was thrilled when word of a ‘Love Booth’ got to her. She decided that it was worth a try, especially when it seemed to line up perfectly. She could almost say that the booth had opened just for her. Little did she know who was hosting said booth. From what she’d heard, the booth was set to open at 10 a.m. and Violence skipped down to Grounds exactly 10 minutes before opening time. She was relieved to see the booth standing there, partly afraid that this might have been merely a prank. She also was the first one there, and so she went and stood near the opening, looking down at her watch. Violence was hesitant, she did not know what to expect. This still might be a scam after all, but desperate times called for desperate measures. Violence looked around and saw people finally gathering near the booth, lining up behind her. A voice called out to tell everybody that the booth was finally open and she was just about to look who it was but a girl with whitish blonde hair caught her eye. It was not Azzure but by the time she turned around, the person had retreated to the warmth of the booth. She sucked in a deep breath, and instantly breathed out, it really was chilly out here. Regret washed over her, and she now questioned her choice of outfit. There was no reason to wear a tank top in this weather and she sighed. Thankfully, she had a sweater, which albeit did little to block the cold, was still better than being directly exposed to the weather. She also had her pockets full of Galleons and she definitely decided to take a quilt inside. It was quite overpriced but Violence had no intention of falling sick just two days before holidays started. Shaking any doubt out of her mind, she walked to the entrance and pulled the curtain aside to enter and was met with a warm environment. Much better than the harsh winter outside. But as her eyes landed on the two people waiting, she stopped in her tracks. She was left dumbfounded for almost ten whole seconds. These were two people she never had imagined to be here together, first of all. But then again, she hadn’t really been keeping up with gossip around the mighty castle and was not aware if they were friends or not. She first noticed the boy, Prat Pass. A scoff left her mouth and she couldn’t stop herself from mumbling, “This guy is giving love advice? Merlin, I’m doomed!” There was nothing uneventful about the first duel she had ever moderated. As the events of said duel crossed her mind, she had half a mind to turn around. And as her gaze fell upon the younger Slytherin standing beside Prat, her resolution was almost set in stone. There was no way the Miller whatever-her-name-was girl was helping with love advice. From what she’d seen at the last ball, in the escape room, the only thing she was good at was brooding. She parted her lips to say she was probably in the wrong place but then she remembered why she was here in the first place. She rolled her eyes, groaning internally before going forward, plastering a fake smile on her face. “This is quite… surprising. Well, I’d like a quilt please, thanks,” She settled down and was about to just be straightforward about what she needed help with, but then realised who she was sitting in front of. Violence would have to be very, very careful with how she phrased her query. There was no way she was letting her personal life become gossip for kids who had no other purpose than to joke around. She thought for a second and then spoke finally, “There is a friend… of mine who has been quite interested in this girl. She was too shy to be here herself hence why I’m here.” She let out a dry chuckle. If Prat and Miley girl had any brain cells, they would figure out in a minute that this was about herself. Still, Violence had no intention of making it clear for them. Clearing her throat, she continued, “So things had been going really well but the girl disappeared for a little- for quite some time actually. She showed up some time ago and now is actually spending Christmas with my friend.” Violence paused for a second, scanning their faces for any sort of judgement. Knowing there was little she could do about it, she continued. “My friend has decided that she wants to just tell the girl what she feels and it is either a yes, or a no. She wanted to know the best way she could put forth her affection without it turning… awkward?” Violence hoped that people were not already aware of herself and Azzure, at least not Prat and Millie. If they did, there was no escaping being the talk of almost every table by breakfast the next morning. There was little chance of getting out of this unscathed, and all she could do was hope for the best. | xxxxxxx |

| XXX | XXXXXXUnsurprisingly, ever so graceful Prat Pass opened the curtain in one clean, fluid motion. The older Slytherin was still relatively unknown to her. During the short time they had worked together to set this plan in motion, she had learned that he at least wasn't as obnoxious as most other students at Hogwarts. The 'effortly elegant' aura he tried to radiate was ridiculous though, but it would only work in their favor. At least one of them had to come across friendly to their customers. Milica couldn't help but roll her eyes upon hearing Prat addressing the growing queue. Maintain your decorum, really? A nervous chuckle escaped her mouth, silent enough that it could only be heard by people standing close to her. She took a deep breath as she heard a familiar rustle, telling her that the curtain on the side of the booth was about to open. All the time they spent preparing had led her to this moment, and she truly was ready. The dhampir managed to do a last quick outfit fix before a girl walked in. At first, she didn't recognize the girl who walked in. She was undoubtedly beautiful: her chocolate brown hair and sharp features made Milica wonder why she even needed love advice. She didn't have to ponder for long as Milica saw the girl's mouth move, but she couldn't hear what was said. This must be the reason, she decided. The girl probably mumbles too much. Once the girl actually spoke up, Milica finally recognized her. She's the girl from the ball. The beautiful girl not only mumbled, but from what she could remember, she was also incredibly rude. This would be an easy customer. Her flaws were already obvious, and she hadn't spoken one word yet. Rather than inviting the girl in, the dhampir stared straight at her. She tried not to show her confusion upon seeing her first roll her eyes, and then smile. The mixed signals were not a problem to her. Even insane girls deserve help, well, as long as they pay of course. In one, sharp movement, Milica handed her a quilt, the quilt almost hitting her face. Perhaps she had to work on her.. quilt giving skills. Or not. It's not like she cared if she hit her customers. Most would probably be too nervous to call her out on it anyway. Her intense staring continued as the customer finally stated her query. Horror showed on her face as Milica realized she was there for her friend rather than herself. There goes her master plan of pointing out all the girl's flaws. When the customer finished her question, Milica's mind started rattling. "The best way to put forth her affection without it turning awkward..", she repeated, deep in thought. This situation could go many ways. If the girl's friend admitted her feelings to the person they like, they could be rejected, or not. This led to a 50/50 chance of heartbreak or love. Of course, Milica didn't know the friend in question. The chances could change depending on aspects like their looks or their personality. If the friend was anything like this girl, they would have to do a lot of work on their personality to increase their chances. They would be lucky if the love interest was shallow though, since their looks would work in their favor. A 50% chance of heartbreak was high. Thinking of the best advice she could muster, she was finally able to reply confidently. "There's only one way, clearly. Your friend needs to cut all ties with them. Awkward situation avoided." Feeling incredibly proud of her amazing suggestion, a smug look spread across her face. She wasn't the only person running the love booth however, so she looked over to Prat. Honestly, her advice seemed perfect, but the boy probably had something to add either way. Even if he didn't, it was good to have the customers stay for longer. She had to ask. "Right, Prat?" |
