A Second Lesson
Joey stuffed his last book into his bag, threw it over his shoulder and hurried out of the library, almost breaking ino a run. He had little over five minutes to go up five floors to transfiguration.
He rounded the corner just as the bell rang for start of the lesson. He had got there just as people had started to enter the classroom and slotted in behing Lennox, with a quick, slightly breathless hello. Collecting his marked homework on the way in, he sat in the same seat as last time - number thirteen - to the right of Lennox. Looking down at the parchment he had had back, he noticed a large A on the front. Acceptable - he hoped he would have done better, but at least he had passed. He had really tried his best but thought maybe his muggle knowledge of science had hindered, rather than helped him in this case. Glancing over at Lennox, he saw she was looking down at her paper and thought it was best to wait for her to finish before interrupting, and instead looked towards the front of the class, at Professor Lian, waiting for her to start.
After everyone had taken their seats, she began by going over their homework from last time and pointing out where many of them had gone wrong on the first question. Joey was pleased with himself for being one one of the few who hadn't.

A Second Lesson
Lennox sighed as she walked into her Transfiguration class, arriving early so as to avoid getting lost within these halls. The girl walked to the front of the class, her robes billowing out behind her as she sat in her seat - number 12.
She glanced down at the homework she had picked up as they walked in, seeing a large A also present on the top of hers. Lennox sighed, hoping that she might have done better. She wasn't necessarily surprised, though, as science had never been her strong suit. The girl then looked up as Joey walked in, offering him a small smile. "Hey," She said softly, though the class had not technically begun yet. She looked to the front of the room, where Professor Lian was waiting for the class to start.
Lennox couldn't help but be a little intimidated, determined to improve her grade. She didn't want to be just acceptable, no, she couldn't handle that. The girl knew she had to work harder, but was a bit nervous as to how much more difficult these assignments could get - she had already found the first one challenging enough. She let out a soft sigh, watching as the professor went over the homework, now beginning to realize where she had went wrong.

A Second Lesson
Following the homework corrections (Joey had found out he hadn't had the lowest mark in the class by a long way - a short, round Slytherin boy took that honour, getting a T) they were split into four groups, going from their table numbers. Joey was pleased to be in the same group as Lennox - it was easier to concentrate on work when he didn't have to try and make friends at the same time. He looked at Lennox, "Shall we go then?" He disliked group work a lot, especially when it involved a presentation, but stood up and walked to where they had been directed.
Joey looked at their poster, Conjuration, before looking up at the others in his group. There were eight of them - there was a boy called Pericles, whom Joey recognised as another Ravenclaw; two Gryffindors called Lily and Leo; a Hufflepuff called George; two Slytherins whose names he didn't quite catch; Lennox and himself. He looked at Lennox and smiled, slightly nervously, hoping she would take the lead before Pericles took the task upon himself.
Joey began to read the poster, still unsure what they were actually supposed to be doing. He thought most if it was pretty much self explanatory.

A Second Lesson
Lennox had found herself quite agitated with her homework scores, knowing with effort, she could have received much higher marks. She just wasn't sure how much more work she could seriously do. But she would be damned if she didn't try.
As they were grouped off, Lennox peered over the poster they were supposed to be studying, her mind racing. She could understand some of it, but others... other parts were lost on her. The Law of Conservation of Mass/Energy... The girl's brow furrowed, reading over the explanation, but still finding the idea of it difficult to grasp. But her options were limited: admit she didn't know, and feel silly, or sit there and not know, and risk having another Acceptable. While Acceptable was fine by some, she needed to see herself at an E, at the very least.
Lennox sighed, turning to Joey. He seemed to mostly understand it, and she trusted him. At the very least, she could bond with him over not knowing if he didn't get it. "Joey... Do you understand the Law thing?" She whispered to him, hoping he wouldn't judge her for not knowing. "I get everything else mostly, but that's kind of lost on me..." She trailed off, running her hand against the back of her neck nervously.

Joey replied in a whisper, although he didn't know why. They were, after all, talking about the the lessons work - exactly what they were supposed to be doing.
"The Law of Conservation of Energy, says that -" he paused, thinking how best to say it, before continuing, "- energy can't be created or destroyed, only transferred from one state to another." He looked up, pleased with himself, before adding, "I'm not sure how it applies to mass though," as his smile changed into a look of thought, trying to think back to his days of muggle school.
It was a few minutes before he zoned back in to what he was supposed to be doing. Now he thought about it, conjuring things out of thin air did seem great. He read the poster through again, this time noticing the example spells down the side of the page.
He turned back to Lennox, "It says here, conjuring things is supposed to be really hard apparently. We're not taught it unless we take transfiguration at NEWT level." He had read about NEWTs when he had looked up OWLs. They were the next level of education, although he still had a long time yet. "I guess we need to know about them without actually having to be able to do it." He sounded a little dissapointed, although he knew he would have no chance of conjuring anything until he had learnt alot more about developing and controlling his magic.
