Marcella hadn't owled her parents in a while. And halfway to the Great Lake for her daily art sessions, she changed her mind and ran towards the Owlery, so she could owl her parents. As she neared the owlery, Marcella slowed her pace to a walk so she could calm her panting. While she was going up to the owlery, so she could send a letter to her parents. But while doing so, she saw a paper airplane that had been magicked, dashed towards the owlery. Intrigued by it, Marcella half ran behind it. As she entered the owlery, she saw a girl sitting hunched up over her sketchbook, drawing a Pemba Scoops Owl. But before she could warn the girl, the airplane had caused the owl to fly off.
She feared that the girl would think that it was she who had done that. "Oh, hello. I'm really sorry your owl flew away. I suppose someone had magicked the airplane. Were you drawing?" She asked the girl with a warm smile on her face. It always delighted Marcella to find another fellow art enthusiast. She walked over to the girl. “Do you often come here to draw? I mostly go to the Great Lake, the ambience there really helps me.”

Kennedy was not one to get angry often, but as she stood up she was livid. How could this girl be so inconsiderate, it was downright rude that she would throw that paper airplane. She was about to express this to the girl when she spoke.
"Oh hello. I'm really sorry your owl flew away. I suppose someone had magicked the airplane. Were you drawing?"
Kennedy's anger faded to embarrassment. It wasn't the girls fault that the owl had flow away, and Kennedy felt ashamed for making that assumption. The girl looked so friendly, and Kennedy pushed away her guilt to answer her question.
"Yes, I was drawing the owl that just flew away."
The girl came closer, appearing intrigued by the subject of art.
"Do you often come here to draw? I mostly go to the Great Lake, the ambiance there really helps me."
Kennedy nodded and smiled, "I'm not really much of an artist honestly. More of a researcher. I'm horrendous at drawing anything that isn't a bird. So the owlry is often the best place to find occasionally patient subjects." She laughed at the thought of her past art projects and owls that hadn't been the best of models. "I go down to the great lake sometimes too, it always seems to attract the prettiest Blue Birds." Kennedy flipped through the sketch book in her hand to show her a picture of one she had drew a couple weeks ago. It wasn't often that Kennedy got to share her art with someone who cared, but she also briefly wondered if she was over stepping or talking too much. "What about you, what do you like to draw?" Kennedy asked curious about another art lover at Hogwarts.

Dido stared in shock as her paper airplane, lovingly folded just seconds before, flew out of the window, having been magicked by a random fourth year. She rushed down the stairs of the North tower, looking out the window as she did and tracking the plane’s progress. It was heading towards the West Tower, which Dido hadn’t yet gone to. She glanced around, hoping it was allowed for First Years before continuing running. The paper airplane was getting closer to the tower, seemingly directed towards an open window. As she crossed, Dido couldn’t help but laugh when she saw her plan playfully fly through the window before hitting a girl in the back of the head lightly. She sped up her run, hoping that the girl wouldn’t open the plane and read her, genuinely abysmal, first draft of a short story.
When she eventually entered the tower, she had to clutch her stomach to avoid laughing and was trying to twist her face into an expression that reflected the horror she felt, fearing that the girl would be angry. In the room, which she realised was the Owlery, there was the girl who had been hit, a young Hufflepuff with long dark hair, and there was another girl, a Ravenclaw, with green eyes and quite tall boots.
As she caught her breath, she realised they had been talking about art and Dido felt even more embarrassed, assuming that the plane had prevented the first girl, who held a sketchbook, from finishing a really impressive sketch of an owl. She ducked her head and mumbled, “I am so sorry- I mean, I wasn’t the one who did it but… well- it is my airplane… Yeah. Sorry,” and then she quickly added, “Could I have it back though?”

The girl intrigued Marcella. She wasn't much of a bird enthusiast, but she sure was a raven enthusiast. "I usually love studying ravens and crows. They're a very interesting bird type. I once fed a murder of crows, biscuits, and they brought me back shiny trinkets and food," she said, chuckling as she recalled November of 2020. "Oh! I had even petted a crow on its head. When I did so, it took a clump of snow from the ground and placed it on my hand. He was such a sweetie"
The girl flipped through the sketchbook in her hand to show her a picture she had drawn. It was quite amazing, really. "Oh my, that's so pretty! And well, I draw many things actually. But I love to draw things that hold a deeper meaning and a lore." Marcella reached into her backpack to grab her sketchbook. She flipped through her book and showed the drawing she had made of the di Angelo family's friendly messenger: Rayvon. "This little guy has been around ever since my dad was eleven. Apparently, my father had fed him his sandwich, and ever since, Rayvon the friendly raven had befriended him and followed him around. He still comes bearing gifts for my father. And he also delivers letters for us. My father has an entire area allocated just for him in every place in the house," she chuckled. Marcella never talked a lot, but when she met this girl, she had this urge to talk quite a lot. The only other person who had seen this side of her was her best friend, Ava Lynn. "Oh my, I had almost forgotten! May I know your name?" she asked the Hufflepuff girl.
Marcella turned to the source of the voice. It was a Slytherin girl who was slightly panting. I wonder if she had run all the way here. Marcella gave a soft smile. "How did it go awry?" she asked as she handed the girl the aeroplane.

Kennedy's smile widened as the girl kept talking. Often people thought she was weird when she shared her obsession of birds, but now she had found someone who seemed to be genuinely interested. Kennedy thought back to her own experiences with crows, they had always been friendly and could be bribed to stay still by treats.March 8th 2026 | Kennedy Cheek | @Marcella di Angelo - color=#4e7f97 | @Dido Bleaklane - color=#69a15e | Owlry | WC:446
"I love crows too, but I don't have too much experience with ravens, except once. My brother had provoked the raven, and he spent the next half hour running away from the raven. He didn't like birds much after that."Kennedy laughed aloud just thinking about it.
The girl grabbed her own sketch book to show her a drawing of a raven, and Kennedy couldn't help but gasp. It was a beautiful drawing, with great technique, the girl really was a talented artist.
"This little guy has been around ever since my dad was eleven. Apparently, my father had fed him his sandwich, and ever since, Rayvon the friendly raven had befriended him and followed him around. He still comes bearing gifts for my father. And he also delivers letters for us. My father has an entire area allocated just for him in every place in the house," The girl chuckled as she finished, and Kennedy laughed with her. She didn't often get to hear stories like this from others. She had also never heard of a raven acting like an owl!
"My mom and dad met because of her owl. He was a muggle and was quite confused when a girl had come into the animal shelter he worked at looking for an owl. The rest is history."Kennedy explained ask the two continued to exchange stories.
"Oh my, I had almost forgotten! May I know your name?" The girl asked
"My names Kennedy, what's yours?" Kennedy was no longer shy, she found the conversation effortless.
Then another girl entered the owlry, slightly breaking the moment. She was out of breath, and it seems that she had run all the way up the stairs.
“I am so sorry- I mean, I wasn’t the one who did it but… well- it is my airplane… Yeah. Sorry,” the girl mumbled, and then added “Could I have it back though?”
All anger that Kennedy had felt from earlier had completely vanished and she smiled at the girl,
"Its alright, no harm done!"
Then Marcella went to pick up the paper airplane from where it had been resting on the floor and gave it back to the girl.
"How did it go awry?" she asked
"I'd also like to know the story if you don't mind telling," Kennedy settled in to hear the story.

Dido grinned as both girls smiled, the one who it had hit even saying, “It’s alright, no harm done!” as the other handed the plane back. Dido crumpled it up in her hand without even looking at it before tucking it into her satchel, relieved that they hadn’t seen it.
“How did it go awry?” the other girl asked. Dido, now she was sure that they weren’t angry, had to smile a little at such antiquated language but quickly masked it with a thoughtful look. Sketchbook-girl echoed the question, saying that she wanted to hear about the story too and Dido swallowed, quickly thinking through the events to make sure that nothing had to be cut out of the story.
“I… Well, I was doing some… homework! And this fifth or sixth- I’m not really sure- year just came along, chatting to me, and did a spell,” she glanced at the girls before continuing, “Again, I don’t know what spell but- anyway- My homework just… turned itself into a paper airplane,” Dido laughed and muttered, “Which was pretty cool, if you ask me. And then one of her friends, or maybe not her friend, came forward and shot it out the window. I didn’t stay long after that. I just started running.”
As Dido finished her rapidly-paced story, she looked again at the two girls, hoping she hadn’t spoken too much. “That was it,” she finished, somewhat awkwardly, before quickly adding, “I’m Dido, by the way. In Ravenclaw 1.”
1- OOC Note:ReducioJust in case you are interested or confused, Dido is in Slytherin. However, she has started to claim being in Ravenclaw automatically (what she has told her parents) and, since mid-to-late February, she has become mildly obsessed/jealous of Mikaela Hendricks, a Ravenclaw first year. As part of this, when wearing uniform, she has pinned the Ravenclaw badge over her Slytherin one. This would not hold up to close inspection.

There was some chatting happening in the Owlery when I went to go mail my letter. It was a super tall tower with the STEEPEST stairs. It also had a distinct smell, but I was able to get over that. I missed my parent terribly and needed to owl a letter. I fidgeted with my dainty heart locket on the way up. A birthday gift from my family. I loved it so much, because on one side of the heart, it was a selfie with the cast and other girls playing Matilda on my last night on west end. “Oh hello!” I said, when I finally reached the top. I waved to Kennedy, the girl who shared a birthday with me. ”How are you doing Kennedy?” I asked, there was another Ravenclaw who I’ve seen but never personally interacted with and the girl…Dido I think, we met on the train. “Dido right?” I asked smiling. I stuck my hand out to her. “It’s nice to see you again. Um what’s wrong with your badge?” I asked, eyeing her robes. “I could sew it for you.” I then turned to the Ravenclaw. “Hi, my name is Tina, Tina Carille. I believe I’ve seen you around the common room?” I said, introducing myself to the Ravenclaw. I found a owl and gave it the letter. I then told the owl where it was to go. ”Safe Flight…” I muttered to the owl as it flew off.
