Blossom Adventure
XXXAkari liked beaches. Akari liked rivers. He also liked food. And it was even an adventure!

XXXAll in all, no reason not to go!

XXXAnd of course, he dragged Hikari along with him, but only after pestering him for multiple days. Maybe his rather reserved friend could take the chance to meet more people. That was always a plus. Admittedly, he was starting to develop a sense of pity for him, but he would never say it out loud.

XXXThe Storm Petrels, lovely creatures that they were, delivered them down to the riverbank. Mahoutokoro was simply gorgeous from this height, and Akari couldn't help but let out a few 'wa's of excitement during the trip. Hikari didn't pay much attention to it, though. An array of curious boats were waiting for them at the shore, all identically adorned with veil-like curtains and a simple roof. Hikari chose one first, and Akari followed amiably, sitting down beside him.

XXX"How exciting!" he chirped, though slightly more hushed than usual. The peaceful rushing of the river gave the environment a very tranquil atmosphere, though it was disturbed by their new Headmaster scolding one of their classmates. He didn't seem very approachable, and Akari always conveniently slipped the other way whenever he saw him coming in the halls of Mahoutokoro.

XXXAmidst the chatter, as the rest of the students milled about selecting a boat-- really, they were all identical, why make a fuss?-- Akari heard a faint meow. Someone must have brought their pet cat. He had no idea you were even allowed to do that. Sometimes he wished he had a pet. Luckily, there were many wild fauna roaming grounds and gardens of Mahoutokoro, so he was never entirely devoid of animal company. "What are you most looking forward to, Hikari-kun?" he asked curiously. Okuri-Inu Shrine would surely be fascinating, but the experience travelling there was just as important!

A day to enjoy the outdoors instead of cooping up inside to study? Not an unwelcome change of pace but it was something Miharu wasn't expecting for her to participate in either. She was more of an indoor person, reading books in the corner of the library, studying their lessons and such unless it was Quidditch they were talking about. That was a different story. One would surely find her almost immediately taking her place on the practice pitch. There was a time when it wasn't that case, when she rarely goes to any practice. She was a coward back then. Now, she has stopped running away, knowing that nothing will ever change if she keeps on doing so.

Maybe that was the reason why she was here as well, trying something else other than the activities that she finds comfort in. Now, she hopes that she won't regret any of the decisions she had made today. Whenever someone says ‘Event’, the first thing that ever comes in her mind was: What will go wrong this time? This wasn't a Hogwarts event, she had to keep that in mind so perhaps that question was unnecessary. She didn't even need to ask permission from her parents to join in, they just said she must go. “As always… deciding things on your own.” While she would've still loved to try it out, asking her first if she wanted to go doesn't hurt anyone, right? Miharu let out a tired sigh. It wasn't the ride on the petrels that exhausted her but rather just the usual things her parents did.

Now, for the boat rides. Of course, she looked around for familiar faces first but… that wouldn't help her one bit if she always went for what's comforting for her. Being with random strangers wasn't. She stopped for a while and just picked a random ride that no one was on just yet. She turned her head, hearing the name of the cousin that she doesn't want to be with right now. He was loud, annoying even, always there to ruin her peace. See? He was already causing trouble for their Headmaster. Another sigh escaped her. In all honesty though, being able to do whatever you want without any care… sounds freeing. Well, at least her parents are still allowing her to play sports despite the unfortunate losses.

Miharu sat there, waiting, enjoying the view from the boat. It was relaxing, so peaceful… until it wasn't when the first person joined her and the very person that she didn't want to share a boat with… Katsuro. While she wasn't impressed with how the universe works, as usual, she didn't let that annoyance show on her face. She just doesn't know him, doesn't understand him nor could she make any sense of his actions. When did they start getting into each other's nerves though? Since they were young? The two of them were the complete opposite of each other so perhaps it was that. “Good morning, Katsuro-san.” It never hurts to continue being polite now even though her cousin doesn't look like he wanted to be with her as well. That grimace on his face was enough to tell her that. The feeling is mutual. “No, I’m fine for now.” She turned to face him. “Already giving our Headmaster a headache?” She asked, her gaze slowly falling onto where the said headmaster was. Causing trouble or not, she wasn't gonna tell him off. She’d rather not.

Emi was ecstatic and hungry. She had been thinking about the boat ride non-stop since she first heard about it, and everyone said it was going to be fun. The fact that she was leaving the shore behind and entering a completely different environment thrilled her. They were going on a picnic – or, at least, that’s what Emi thought. She wasn’t completely sure about how or what yet, but that was good because it left room for her imagination. Perhaps games would be played, perhaps all would enjoy themselves, and perhaps she would make new friends. She hoped to meet people though this thought excited and frightened her all at once. She saw herself talking to someone, laughing, and feeling like she belonged there. Maybe she would meet someone who really got her, and that thought made her smile.

People said there will be things to do. she reminded herself. There will be very good food. That made her grin because good food always made things better. Then she started to think about who she should ride the boat with. People sat in groups, laughing and chatting, while some were in pairs and appeared quite content. She didn’t know what to do. Should she go and talk to someone? Or should she wait for someone to come to her? Or should she join one of the groups and hope she fit in?

“Hmm…” she said softly, her fingers playing with the pale pink sleeve. Now, there was also a tinge of uncertainty in her. For a moment, she thought maybe she was thinking too much and it didn’t matter all that much. Maybe all she needed was to take a chance. She looked up into the sky. It was dark, but and clear — or so she hoped. The rising sun was shining down on her making it feel like one of those perfect days. The wind was light and smelled of water and something new, like it was urging her to take action. She breathed out. Her heart was beating at an alarming pace once again, but this time it was not a cause of fear but excitement. She noticed the food and thought, Free food! I definitely need to eat! I did not eat breakfast today!

It will be fun. she thought. She stood for a second, not knowing what to do but knowing that whatever she decided might change something in her day. In the end, she made up her mind to get on a random boat, even though she doesn’t know who they are.

Spring came before she even realize. She didn't particularly remember anything that has happened this year, or perhaps she just have not done much this year to begin with. That is quite unfortunate is it? but maybe today she could change that when she heard about an event that their headmaster arranging a cherry blossom sight seeing boat ride.

Although, the early morning schedule is off-putting, as a night owl such as herself, she still force to wake herself up and arrive at the beach just a few minutes before they suppose to take off. Mio sense that their new headmaster is probably not very happy with that. But she also can tell that he probably is very indifferent towards a lavender robed student.

She was maybe a tad too excited for the Petrel ride, something that isn't suppose to be the main event.

She looked around to see who are in attendance whilst on top of the Petrels. And she saw a few familiar faces, but also many she have never seen before. But Sara-san definitely stand out from the crowd though.

They arrive at the river site, and the Petrels are descending slowly. Somehow Mio couldn't help but to feel a little bit disappointed to be apart from the petrels, but alas it is time to say good bye. She bowed at the fowl, and starts walking to the boats.

She doesn't have any preferences to which boat she is going to board, so she stroll along the river bent to see which one calls to her. But just when she about to board one, she heard a stern voice aloud just near her, " SOUTU KUN!" following the headmaster gaze, Mio found a boy holding several pebbles in his hands. Mio was stunned but also very amused by the boy cheekiness. "That looked fun...." Mio turned and secretly followed him to his boat. In her mind someone who have pebbles in their pockets must have some ideas to bring more fun to these boat rides.

She board Souto-kun's boat not long after him. She was greeted with a lot of food and drinks that immediately distracted herself from the people on board. She picked up a drink and start sipping the sweet and fruity deliciousness. Although she still looked very passive, her mood has been lifted immensely. That is not the case for the other people inside the boat with her. She doesn't understand why but the mood turned a little weird with the girl and Souto-kun. And of course, she doesn't really know what to do in the case of a social situation such as this.

"Hi." After a few seconds, thinking of what to say, that is all the word she could muster. "I'm Kasasagi Mio." She started to say things in a very awkward and polite tone. "Nice to meet everyone." Again she bowed awkwardly, not knowing what she was suppose to do.

The chilly fresh morning air was crisp and cool against Kanae's cheeks as she made her way towards the docks. She'd braided her hair carefully before leaving. Twin braids ran thick from her temples, alternating between bubble sections and traditional plaits, secured at the ends with a small, clear elastic. With her, she brought a pink cherry-blossom themed bag with gold accents-- seemed fitting for the occasion.

She spotted Headmaster Sako before she spotted anything else. She recognized the guy who tried to confiscate her manga anywhere. It was childish to have a grudge but not like she could sabotage the guy anyway. She dipped into a polite bow the moment she was within appropriate distance. "Good morning, Headmaster Sako." Her voice was bright, unhurried. "What a lovely occasion to have organized. The river looks absolutely beautiful at this hour." she said before lining up.

Kanae fell into place without a fuss. Then she saw the food. The towers of sushi were arranged like art pieces, pristine and carefully constructed, practically glowing under the soft morning light. Kanae's eyes went a little wide. "Oh."

It was then she caught a glimpse of some of her seniors from the Quidditch team clustered near one of the boats. The girl raised her hand in a small, cheerful wave in their direction, her fingers fluttering briefly. She knew their faces well enough to feel that easy warmth of recognition even from a distance. A part of her wanted to join in but they were clearly mid-something, so she held herself back.

On her way toward the water's edge, she almost walked straight past a first year she didn't recognize, and then stopped herself because — oh, her hair was lovely. Genuinely. It looked so soft and silky, the bangs were cut perfectly to frame her face as well. "Excuse me," Kanae said, stepping slightly toward her — not close enough to be intimidating but it was a conversation distance. Her smile was easy, warm, the kind that reached her eyes without effort. "I'm sorry to interrupt, but your hair looks so healthy and lovely." It wasn't that weird to go out of her way to compliment someone since it was true and pretty things deserved to be said out loud.

Finally reaching to the emptier boats, she recognized Katsuro and Miharu--- familiar enough faces, familiar enough names. She stepped carefully onto the edge and settled herself into a seat. "Good morning, you two." A small, genuine smile. "Souto-kun. Goto-chan." There was another face though, one of another girl's, about her age. "Morning to you as well, Kasasagi." She said warmly. They looked really cool, the short hair suited them well.
xxx
Then, almost immediately, she noticed the tea. Cold. Pink-tinged. A glass already poured. She reached for one, lifted it to her lips, and took a small sip. It tasted floral and...lychee! It was clean and sweet in a way that wasn't overwhelming. "...This is really good," She thought as she took another sip. The sushi could wait. Probably.

@Kanae Suzuki
" Good morning, Suzuki-chan" he says politely, a contrast so big from the yelling he had done just a mere second ago. Too much infact that he had to clear his throat, offering a smile to the student. Though smiling a little more genuine seeing the golden colour still on her robes. " How kind of you to say. I appreciate you coming along to this event. Better see what beauty mother nature blesses us with than useless …. illustrated panels, am I correct? Regardless, welcome - feel free to choose whatever boat you'd like".

@Emi Sato
Sako noticed one of the younger students attending the event. He internally grimaced seeing her pink robes but managed to hide it. How can one be so lazy at such a young age? At least that meant she had room to grow he supposed. Even if the lost deer demeanor she had didn't give him much hope. He braced himself and came up to her politely, giving a welcoming smile. " Sato-chan~. Welcome to the cherry blossom event. Glad you could make it. Would you come with me please? I have prepared a boat for you already with your senpais. Perhaps you could gain a wisdom or two from them about er " he shrugged, already guiding her to a boat. One that was currently occupied by Hikari Fujimoto and Akari Kabukimono, urging her to sit and waved the other two to make space. "-anything really. Now, Kabukimono kun, Fujimoto kun - This is Sato chan. The other boats are full but I trust you two to be kind and welcoming to your kouhai, thank you! Enjoy the event~ ". He hadn't waited for them to react or reply to him before moving away.

@Maria Leung de Almeida & @Tone Bakugo
" Students!" he announced with a clap of his hand, trying his best not to specifically linger on these two. Bakugo, who had the grades to prevent Sako from wanting to give a withering glare for being an avid lover of dyeing his hair ( a useless choice of style, really ) - and Leung de Almeida... where does he even start with this one? Sako had already decided in the beginning of the event that he had better things to do than nag about her seemingly favoured choice of defying orders and going on the petrels much more earlier than her peers. What a pair, these two - really. " Its 7am, please make your way to the boats. There will be no student left behind. Those not on the boat will be immediately sent to the first petrel back to school"

Now that students had time to gather, pick their boats, and all - it was time for the boats to finally start moving. First Sako had to ensure everyone was in boats. His voice would drawl on about boat safety, and a kind threat of detention for those who decide to make a ruckus as he briefly checked in each and every available boat. " Hope you all are satisfied with who you are sitting with. This is the group you will be with through the event. Reminder you are not allowed to switch boats midway", he instructs to every boat.

And so he makes his way to his own boat, and soon enough, students would feel as if a gentle wind moved the boats. No longer magically anchored to the shore, the boats would begin to set asail through the relatively tranquil rivers. The boats would have good enough distance between each other that the boatmates could see the others, and probably enough to shout to be heard clearly. But why shout? Sit back, relax, and enjoy the slow ride. Students may chat, or decide to eat and drink to whats available. In no less than 10 minutes - the main event of the boatride had come alas.

In a short distance, the cherry blossom trees has made itself known. There wasn't just 1 or 2. But dozens. All idly swaying gently in the wind. Their boats has now entered waters where the blossoms are particularly prominent in the area. The pink shades even reflected in the still waters carrying the boats, the blossoms floating on the surface of water.

Sako may have thought he was blinded by Iris's beauty, but it turns out that he founds himself being blinded by something else - sakura petals just whooshed straight to his face, making him lose whatever aura he may have gained by making him splutter and needing to swipe away the flowers. For this boat, it seemed they might've done something to stir the boat a little. The wind was harsh enough to nip their exposed skins, not concerned about where they might've landed. Perhaps even somewhere inconvenient their lips, mouth, or just straight to their face! Regardless, surely their one-side date could still be saved.

Maria would be right about one thing. This boat was just filled with hot dudes and there is no reason that anyone could say she didn't fit right in - being the lovely creature she already is. It was entirely possible that instead of the cherry blossoms being the main view - some may this the view that is Boat 2 is as much of a lovely sight - if not more. Despite all the slaps, the hisses, and the tension in the air, this whole boat would have been worthy of a photogenic photo-shoot. The cherry blossoms was an unpaid actor for their backdrop. Each one of their unique charms suddenly slightly highlighted with the kind breeze and the soft blossom petals. They may feel the gentlest breeze of wind that nudges the blossoms to pass through them in a way that wouldn't have inconvenienced them at all. It was the most perfect- relaxing boat ride for these students compared to how the rest of the boats were doing.

There was a unique blends of different sort of characters on this boat. Whether or not they will mesh well, was still entirely up to them. Despite it, they would be spared by the harsher winds and blossom petals than some of the other boats. So at least, if they were going to explore their connections and dynamics, they could do so in peace. Some of their more observant ones on this boat could notice that their boat would get a bit more cherry blossoms than expected. Their roofs seem to collect a lot more blossoms than the more peaceful boats. Unintentionally, the blossoms may invade their space when they didn't want to. Settling on their seats, or their head, knees, and such. But they were easy enough to remove! Hopefully, no one on this boat (not looking at someone in particular) does anything to change their relaxing boat ride.

Despite being the boat with the most youngest students, they weren't the luckiest. Just like the professors boat, the younger kouhais would be unlucky enough to be in the path of stronger winds carrying a flow of blossoms in their direction. Ready to tickle (or slap their faces) with their gentle petals.

Unlike their headmaster who was likely too distracted by their date, the younger students of Mahoutokoro have a sharp mind. Robe colour aside, all of them would be able to showcase a keen awareness of their surroundings. If they wished to evade the blossoms, they knew exactly where to tilt their head or move. On this boat, the blossoms were not their enemy - but their friend. Though their boat would face a bit of a harsher wind for a bit, the blossoms wouldn't be their biggest surprise. While there were some blossoms invading the inside of their boat, it was nothing too surprising.

———-

Regardless if the start of their journey was rocky or trainquil, it was still a long journey. Soon, they reached the heart of the fully bloomed cherry blossoms.

When the students look up, they would find themselves under huge cherry blossoms trees, the sunlight making the pink hues drift from one shade to another. The faint floral scents would fill the air to the point where one might think the scent would stick to them even after they leave. There may have been some disturbances earlier in the beginning of the boat ride, but now ? Tranquility. Peace. One that some may choose to stay silent to appreciate it's beauty - and .. perhaps others would be louder.

---------------------------------------
@Iris Jurema
Sako of course, would make use of the tranquility of the boat ride. He had been so busy running around ensuring the students got on the boat, he hadn't had the time to truly appreciate his guest. He sits across her with a sigh of relief. " I'm glad you could make it Iris " He spoke in a common language they both knew: english. " Pardon it took me a while to fully greet you. I was doing my best to ensure we were all able to move in time. But it's a joy to be able to see you once again. I'm glad you might fun some interest in an event such as this. Spring is a very wonderful time here in Japan. And from my memories you're quite fond of blossoms and such. ". He ensured they had enough space between each other. Didn't want to scare her away. It had been years since Sako had seen her. In his memories she had been a tiny little girl, and now... well .. he saw the family resemblance when it came to beauty. Iris though seemed to retain an odd youthful glow to her as if she hadn't aged all that much.

" I think congratulations are in order" he smiled, pouring her a warm cup of tea from the kettle available. " Congratulations, as Hogwarts newest herbology professor. I may have said so in the letters we've exchanged but.. it must be said again face-to-face. I appreciate you accepting my invitation Iris, really. Most of the time, events like this means I do not get any break of my ow-n" he stopped as those blasted petals just smacked him in the face!? Cursed things! He showed a grimace and a hiss as he swiped away the petals, needing to take one of the petals out of his mouth. This was NOT how he wanted the date to start.

Emi was greeted then by the headmaster of Mahoutokoro, @Kotoka Sako. He smiled warmly and said, “Sato-chan~ Welcome to the cherry blossom event, I’m glad that you have managed to make it, would you come with me please, I have already prepared a boat for you with your senpais, perhaps you could gain a little wisdom from them about er – anything really.”

Emi followed him toward the dock taking in the scenery as cherry blossoms drifted through the air. The garden seemed a dream, suffused with the colors of pink and gold, as if the world was drenched in the light of spring.

When they got to the river, a decorated wooden boat was already waiting for them. There were two Japanese boys inside, who seemed to be brothers judging by the headmaster’s tone.

Emi climbed onto the boat cautiously and sat down, shifting her posture slightly before looking at them. She smiled them back politely but slightly. She felt a bit weird considering that she is the only girl.

Er… Hi, I’m Emi Sato, but you can call me Emi-Chan! You’re Kabukimono-senpai and Fujimoto-senpai right?”

*sigh* I hope I didn’t offend them by calling them senpai! Her eyes again swept briefly over the boat. The carvings along the wood were detailed and elegant, and the soft decorations made it feel more like part of the festival than just transportation. Emi thought it was almost too pretty to be real.

After a moment, the boat started moving forward on the river.

In the beginning, it was all serene and calm. The water was calm, reflecting the sky like a mirror, and the cherry petals descended in slow, subtle spirals. Emi watched them fall, some of the petals landing on the surface and being immediately spun off with the current.

She leaned just a bit closer to the edge of the boat, taking in the sight without a word. The trees that grew along the riverbank bent over the boat, their branches laden with pink blossoms that glowed softly in the light.

But then, after sometime, the atmosphere started to change.

Emi felt the change in wind direction. It wasn’t loud at first—a differential in the air, but the cherry blossoms began to fall heavier, cousins clustering together during their descent to the ground. The wind currents started to become more defined again as if unseen rivers were shaping routes for the petals to move around.

Increasingly, blossoms filled the air around the boat. More and more blossoms filled the air around the boat. Not yet scary but definitely unusual, this was like a reaction of nature on some unknown force.

Emi blinked as a stronger gust passed by, sending a thicker wave of petals across the river. The boat’s movement was consistent, but the air around it was filled with motion and movement.

She looked ahead one more time, observing that the blossoms were no longer falling randomly but moving in certain patterns. The random falling of the petals seemed to have given way to patterns in which the blossoms now moved. Maybe it was her stroke of luck, but she somehow managed to dodge the cherry blossoms. How did I manage to dodge all the cherry blossoms? I must be that lucky today…

Sara's response made Tone smile at him a little. "Of course! I always aim to make people happier when they are around me." He told him with a nod. "I probably should have remembered you don't like being touched too often. But since we haven't really seen eachother for awhile it must have slipped my mind. But don't get me wrong, you really are very important to me, Sara." Tone said, wanting to make sure Sara knew it wasn't because he didn't like him less than others. He shrugged a little when Sara tried to say he made other people happy the way he was. "I wouldn't go so far as to say that but I hope they at least were able to relax and forget their worries for a time because of me."

Tone said with a smile. Sara's odd reaction to his question about being alone with Yami made him tilt his head to the side a little. "Aren't you going out with him?" He asked, a little confused. "Or are you just really shy?" Tone added with a faint twitch of his lips, trying to hide a smile. He was about to sling an arm over Sara's shoulder but stopped himself just in time. It really was ingrained in him to touch others. Tone's arm was raised but instead of touching Sara, he used that arm to stretch into the air as if that was what he'd been about to do all along when he'd raised it before. He nodded when Sara told him it was fine if he was with them. "Alright then. Let me go get some food for me and Mochi first. Be back very soon!"

Tone told him. As he left the boat, Yami called out to him. But the slightly older wizard was still calling him by the nickname he'd overheard him being called in the past by his parents. Tone had to let him know sometime later that he preferred not to be called that. Before, he'd have just let it go since he'd have believed Ginyami felt more at ease calling him that instead of his real name. Even though it made him feel bad inside. But after Ye-jun had told him to speak up about things that bothered him, Tone was trying his best to change a little. Baby steps. The first thing to do was find some time to speak to Ginyami alone, if only for a moment, and tell him he preferred if he called him by his real name. Perhaps this trip would be the perfect time to do so.

"Of course!" Tone called back to Yami and saluted him before going off with Mochi. After selecting some morsels for himself and Mochi, Tone made his way back to the boat again after hearing Sako call them all to go over to their boats. Settling himself down into the seat across from Yami and Sara, Mochi climbed into his lap and curled up. He looked over at Yami as the latter spoke and tilted his head to the side. "Really? What's better for cats to eat then?" Tone asked, curious. Sara then pointed out a good question about wizard versus muggle sushi and Tone nodded again.

It was around this time that Maria chose to drop by and take the only empty seat next to him and a smile came to his lips. "Good to see you again, Maria! How have you been?" He said and glanced over at Yami again as he was still waiting for his reply.

The boat moved further down the water until eventually they were under some huge beautiful cherry blossom trees. "It's beautiful scenery, isn't it?" Tone remarked with a smile, looking up at the petals. The reason why Tone always treated people the same, with a friendly and carefree attitude was because he didn't want to think deeper about anything personal. He was afraid to know the truth when it came to how others say him. It was why he always kept a cheerful carefree smile on his face and seemed as if he had not a care in the world. He didn't want to get hurt, to be pitied, to have people be his friends just because they felt sorry for him. He'd rather just be used by them than to have them pity him. Pity was the absolute worst to him.

But he couldn't tell the difference between pity, sympathy and true caring from others. They all seemed the same to him. Tone's thoughts were whirling inside his head with no real direction. He didn't know who or what he was and probably had never known. If it hadn't been for Ye-jun, his real identity would have slowly begun to disappear without him even realizing it until it was too late. He sipped his cup of green tea with honey in it that he'd taken from the refreshments table earlier. Mochi looked over at Maria curiously but didn't move from Tone's lap.

ACTIONS
Returning to the boat he'd departed from earlier with sushi, green tea and Mochi, only to find a newcomer and familiar face waiting to greet him. The boat ride commences and the trip is relaxing and tranquil, just what he needed and probably what others wanted to.

Hikari had to admit, the beauty of the place was working its magic on his mood.

Akari's question lingered at the edge of his consciousness, not ignored, just set aside temporarily as his attention drifted outside, to the other boats. Some already occupied, others still waiting, identical in shape, in the way they rested too neatly against the water's edge. He lingered on the movement of the water, dotted with pale pink blossoms.

He wasn't quite sure what he was meant to answer. What exactly was he looking forward to? Not the food that was for sure.

"..The scenery, I suppose." he said at last, voice low.

His gaze shifted-- briefly-- to Akari. The boy's eyes were filled with wonder, the childish curiosity Hikari was, by now, used to seeing on him. The quiet excitement in his voice hadn’t faded, softened slightly by the atmosphere around them. Hikari watched him for a moment longer than he intended to. There was something oddly familiar in it, grounding in a way that didn't need to be questioned.

His expression eased without him realising. A small smile formed, subtle, hesitant, more visible in the slight softening of his gaze than in the curve of his lips.

"It's... nice, I guess." He wasn't quite sure if he meant the view or the glow in Akari's eyes, or the way he seemed to fit so easily into the scenery.

The boat rocked. Not sharply, just enough for Hikari to turn away from his friend and towards the entrance. Someone had joined them. His gaze flickered coolly over her, taking in just enough, the posture, the tone, and the barely suppressed discomfort. "Sato." he repeated, acknowledging her name.

Soon they were moving. The boat took them along the river, scattering the cherry blossoms which covered the water surface. The water was calm, reflecting the skies above, clear and blue. Along the riverbanks, trees arched inward, their branches laden with flowers. Pink and white wove together overhead, forming a canopy that filtered the light into something softer.

A petal brushed against the edge of the boat. Another followed and Hikari watched their descent in fascination. For a moment, there was nothing unusual. Just motion. Light.

But he stilled. His eyes tracked one petal a second longer than the rest. Something about the way they moved didn’t seem very calm or peaceful.
Sure enough, the breeze grew stronger, whirls of pink surrounding the boat in what Hikari registered seemed to be fixed patterns. He stepped around the flowers, waiting for the sudden onslaught to end.

His eyes shifted to Akari despite himself, "Be careful."

XXX"Oh, that's good, that's good." Despite how unenthusiastic Hikari sounded, Akari knew he wasn't trying to convey displeasure. The boat rocked lightly as a new person joined them. She was younger than them, and introduced herself with a bit of discomfort, likely due to the unfamiliarity.

XXX"Ah, welcome, Emi-chan!" Akari gave her a smile as the fleet of boats set off from the shore, a light wind picking up. "Yes, we are." Indeed, the atmosphere was slightly awkward, but he was determined to make sure it didn't stay that way.

XXXOtherwise preoccupied with greeting their new kouhai, Akari noticed a few sakura petals floating past Emi's face. From behind him, Hikari also advised him to be careful. "Eh-?" He turned around to look at where they were coming from and promptly got smacked in the face with a few of said petals. He brushed them off, letting out a sheepish chuckle. "Ahah, that was a bit silly, wasn't it?" There was no harm in returning to the childish joy that stemmed from mishaps, was there? Hikari, of course, had stepped out of the way of the petals before they even drew close to him.

XXXAkari hummed slightly, turning his attention back to the river. Ripples spread out steadily from the hull of the boat, sweeping away the blossoms that floated near. The ones that remained in the air, carried along by the breeze, drifted like quiet thoughts with no urgency. Was it just a coincidence that he was the only one to get hit? Ah, there's no use dwelling on it. It's just flowers. The morning sun's reflection stirred on the surface of the water, fragmented by the river's current and the disruption of the fleet of boats. Their path left behind a drift of pink, trailing in its wake.
