To New Friends

Willow has spent almost the whole of her time at school in the Hogwarts library. She had read so many books about almost everything that there wasn't really a book that had something she didn't already know in it. This is not a good start, she thought as she sat surrounded by piles of books about absolutely everything. Willow was usually very social, she made friends easily and could hold up a conversation without struggle. This year, she dedicated it to reading and studying which was probably a mistake.
In your first year, your meant to make friends and relationships with people who you'll be with for your whole time at school. She really hadn't thought this through.

Willow sat in a big armchair in front of the fire place. There were other people there too. A group of girls was giggling in the corner, pointing at something in a book. A few different people sitting alone just like she was, surrounded with books. Willow spotted a girl sitting in another armchair about 10 feet from where she was siting.

Willow got up from her chair with a few books she was wanting to read later, cradled in her arms. She walked over to the girl with a friendly smile on her face. Hi, My name's Willow. What's your name?

Sabrina looks up, "Umm," Sabrina didn't expect for someone to come up to her in the library, "My names Sabrina," She puts a big smile on her face, hoping the girl won't be weirded out by her eyes, "Wa'cha readin'?" She asks hoping to get new books recommendations. The girls seemed nice, she can see the green Slytherin robes and her heart flutters, A Slytherin!, she wants to get to know everything about this girl, she seems so nice. She is kind of shy, but no one every said a Slytherin couldn't be shy... She smiles brightly, "Umm, I hope you don't mind, but would you like to be friends? I'm a First Year, and I haven't found anyone I clicked with..."

She rubs the back of her head flicking her eyes to the right then back to the girl in front of her. She realizes she thinks she forgot something, "AH!" she yelps, "I'm sorry, I've screwed up the order," she blushes crimson, "My name is Sabrina. If you wouldn't mind me asking, would you be my friend?" she smiles awkwardly, and her gaze strays to the floor, I messed this up totally. Oh god, I've repeated myself... she thinks sadly, and hopes the girl lets her down softly.

Willow giggled at the girl as she planted a huge smile of her own on her face. Of course I'll be your friend! I'd love nothing more, She exclaimed. The whole time I've been here I've just been reading so I haven't really made any friends. I've started reading Pride and Prejudice lately just for fun and something new. She told the girl.
Willow looked at the girl. She had the most amazing eyes she had ever seen. In fact, Willow had never seen someone with eyes the same as hers. Sorry, I'm totally staring, she looked away.
Willow felt her cheeks flush red as she fiddled with the corner of one of her books. With one hand she tucked a straying piece of hair behind her now red ears as she looked at the chair next to the girl.
Do you mind if I sit? she asked pointing to the large, maroon couch. Willow started shifting her foot around brushing the edge of the rug with it so that she would feel more comfortable around her possible new friend.

Willow looked back up at her, still smiling. I'm so going to make this work! She thought trying to reassure herself.

Sabrina noticed she was staring, Please don't ruin this, she smiles brightly, "Don't worry about staring, usually people bully me..." I said too much... , she looks to the couch, "Yeah, you can sit down, friends shouldn't need to ask." she doesn't like old romance very much, but Jane Austen always has a spot in her heart, "God, Jane Austen's books are great," she says, blowing at a hair in her face. It becomes silent really quickly.

"It's called Heterochromia," she says quickly, hoping it's not weird for her to blurt that, "My eyes, I mean, It's called Heterochromia, just thought I'd get that out now." she blushes a light pink, she stares through the book she's reading, Mandrakes and Their Delightful Potion Abilities, hoping she didn't ruin this within the first eight words she said. "Umm," her blush darkens, "What's your favorite color? and animal, and what do you hope your Patronus is?" she blabbers, "What do you think your favorite class will be and where in the dorm are you?" she stops herself, "As you can tell, I'm not very good at making friends, or talking." she laughs her blush now more of a red than pink... God, I'm hopeless...

Willow plopped down on the couch next to Sabrina. She was so happy that she had finally made a friend and couldn't wait to get to know her. She couldn't keep the smile off of her face. Wow! she said. I think it's so cool. Your eye thing. It's really pretty, I don't know why anybody would bully you for it. Willow smiled at her. Some people are so horrible for bullying people. She just really couldn't see why anyone would think that it's alright and how they could live with themselves afterwards.

Uhhh, my favorite colors are olive green and pastel yellow. My favorite animal is a fox and I really hope my patronus is a fox. They are so elegant and beautiful and very curious creatures. And if not a fox, maybe an owl or something.
Willow has loved foxes every since she saw one while hiking in the woods one summers day. Ever since then she has researched and studied them in her spare time.

I think I'm really gonna like herbology or charms. I don't know though. I have older siblings who came here and they said those were the best classes. I guess I'll have to see for myself. I'm in the Pansy Parkinson dorm, what dorm are you in?

Willow loved the questions. She was so interested in finding out more about Sabrina and she was certain they would be such good friends.
Were you expecting to be put into Slytherin? I've heard some people saying they were expecting other houses. I knew I'd be in Slytherin. My older brothers, River and Jaycob, were in Slytherin and so were my parents so it was expected. Do you have any siblings?

"Oh, I expected to be put in Slytherin, my mother was put in, and I could just feel it in my gut. Siblings no. Um, I'm a Half-blood by the way, so... My fathers a muggle, he doesn't even know magic exists! It would probably break him to know something so powerful exists..." she looks down, "Um, more questions, do you play any instruments, what's your favorite book genre, do you like Quiditch?"

She looks around, thinking about what she wants to ask her, then she remembers, "Oh, wait, you're in the Parkinson dorm! I just signed up there before coming here! I can't believe I missed your name!" she smiles, this was going to be fun, "What's it like to have a sibling? Do you get along with your siblings?" She craves knowledge, and hopes she's not being too annoying, "If I talk too much stop me, I've been known to ramble." she says hurriedly, Stop talking while you're ahead Sabrina, she thinks, "What else would you like to ask me, I've got so much to tell." She smiles brightly, Oh, tell me about everything, she thinks, I'll be here through thick and thin, I promise this to myself, she repeats.

Oh, I'm a pure-blood. My parents are both witches and wizards. I kinda get how you feel. I'm friends with a few muggles back home and it's hard sometimes not being able to tell them. I would never though! Willow had never really cared about people's blood. All she cared about was their personality and who they are. She learned that when she first became friends with muggles in her acting and theater classes.
I play the piano, guitar and the ukulele and a little, tiny bit of the flute. I love so many book genres but a good romance can always win my heart over. I do quite like Quiditch. I've watched a few games with my family and I would like to join the team, maybe.

Having siblings can either have two outcomes. She laughed. You either get along really well and have a ton of fun together or all hell breaks loose. Having siblings is good though. It defiantly has it's advantages. I've got 4 older brother, an older sister and a younger sister. People always gasped when she tells them she has 6 siblings. It's so funny to see their reactions.

What kind of music are you into and what's it like where your from? Is your house anywhere near the seaside?

Sabrina doesn't gasp at the fact that Willow had six siblings, she was awestruck it was a dream to have even one sibling, but SIX!! "Wow! Six, that sounds awesome, and terrible at the same time! she imagines the fights and the fun times with six siblings, "My house isn't near the seaside, but it is near the River Thames. Where I live it's busy, nice, but busy. My favorite music genre, Indie, Pop, and a little bit of Rock... Like Queen and The Beatles." She looks around wondering if anyone would get mad at them for talking. No shushes, no quiet's, nothing.

"Where do you live? What's your favorite movie genre? What do you hope to be after Hogwarts?" she looks at Willow, "We should do a duet, you on piano, me on violin?" she smiles, her hair is starting to bother her, she pulls it up, a star birthmark on her neck shows, she scratches at it absentmindedly. She stares at her book, "What pet do you want when you can buy one? What place would you like on the Quiditch team?" she seems to not know she's asking the questions out loud, her brain is just rattling them off.

Willow moved her small pile of books from her lap and onto the little gap next to her on the sofa. I love in this little place called Acton in England. My house is by this really pretty lake so my siblings and I swim there a lot in the summertime. We also have this really cool street market and serve the yummiest food. Willow's stomach growled at the thought of the food market. This was one of the things she missed dearly from her home.

I don't really watch that many movies. I'm more of a book girl. But I'd say if I do watch a movie, I'd watch a romance or drama. After Hogwarts, I really want to become a journalist. I love writing and researching different things and ever since I can remember I've wanted to be one. What would you like to do after Hogwarts? Willow had always dreamed of becoming a journalist or an author. She loves writing and reading and is very good with words.

Omg yes, Willow gasped and looked around. She wasn't meant to say it that loud. Sorry, but yes I would love to do a duet with you! she laughed.

I think I would like either a cat or an owl. I'm not too sure yet.
I would love to be a chaser. I've watched a ton of games and I think it would just be sooo cool.

Do you have any pets? What's your favorite thing about your hometown?

Ella had just walked in the library, with a book she had just started reading. Othello by Shakespeare. The book was quite old, it was made out of leather and was slightly withered, it once belonged to her grandma; she gave it to her as a birthday present before she had passed away.
Ella walked over to the armchairs, where she usually sat, only to find all of them were vacant. So, she walked over to the table, just behind the armchairs and sat there.
She placed her bag on the floor and the book on the table, she carefully opened it to page 34 where she had left off the last time she was reading.

A couple of minutes passed by and she couldn't help but listen to the conversation two girls were having. She knew it was rude, but they were talking quite loud.

"My house isn't near the seaside, but it is near the River Thames. Where I live it's busy, nice, but busy. My favorite music genre, Indie, Pop, and a little bit of Rock... Like Queen and The Beatles."

She heard one of the girls say and her eyes widened. Queen? the Beatles? Ella thought to herself. Someone who listened to them who's the same age as I am?. Ella originally wanted to get up and asked if she could sit with them. But she was too shy. She thought that she could finally make friends at Hogwarts. She hasn't got any so far. She's always alone walking to her classes and alone during her free time.

Should I go and sit with them? she asked herself. A part of her didn't want to and another did. She was afraid that she would get rejected and get embarrassed.

After sitting there, contemplating on what she should do, She finally decided. So she got up, packed her stuff, gathered all of her courage, and walked over to the two girls and asked them "Mind if I join you guys?"
