Is this Heaven? - Library

Madeline was wandering through the halls of Hogwarts, and getting slightly lost, when she happened upon the most wonderous thing she could ever imagine - the library. In all honesty, the library should not have been difficult for her to find at all, but she was so overwhelmed with all of the beautiful architecture, and all of the ancient magics around her, that she had a difficult time paying attention to where she was heading. She could really relate with Bilbo Baggins when he said,

"It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.¹"

I felt the same way about the halls and corridors at Hogwarts. If I am not careful there is not telling where I might end up - there is just so much to see and do. But most of all, the library is where I want my feet to take me.

Ever since being a kid, I have always enjoyed reading, and the "library" we had at my house was not much more than just a couple bookshelves full of my mum and da's old textbooks and what books they use for their current jobs. To be in a place that is floor to ceiling, and full of more books that even I can read at one time, is as close to heaven as I can imagine. Of course, now I am met with the ultimate dilemma - what do I read? I already know I cannot get any books from the restricted section - or at least not yet. But there are so many other books, to read.

I wander around the library just browsing the bookshelves reading off random book titles, Great Wizards of the Twentieth Century - well I guess that is a little dated now, and should be updated, but it could be a good read - Sites of Historical Socery, Prefects who Gained Power, Asiatic Anti-Venoms, Theories of Transubstantial Transfiguration - I pick this one up to read, it looks like fun.

As I continue to walk around the library I notice some booklets about dancing laying on a table near where I am planning to sit and read my Transfiguration book. I pick up the booklet and read its cover,

I look through the booklet and read a small section,

"Act 1 The Blue Bird
Taken from the beloved ballet The Sleeping Beauty, Blue Bird features a fairy dancing cheerfully like a blue bird in flight. Mimicking wings in motion, the moves are simple in form, but radiant in grace, offering you a glimpse of Ballet's beauty.
Feel free to wave your wand gently and let a soft glow unfold. A bird or butterfly might just pause and rest lightly on your shoulder.
Those who are/were friends with Cassie are sure to know that this is her favourite variation! Though its moves indicate that it is just a warm-up exercise for the great act!²"

I have never been much of a dancer, but this booklet seems like a fun little book to read, and who knows, with the ball coming later, maybe I will try to learn to dance and attend - or more likely, just go an watch all of the others get dressed up and dance around, so I don't go out there and bring shame upon my family through my awkwardness.

As usual, Cassie is sitting by the window of the library, studying her academics. After she finishes another homework, she stretches her arms and looks around to rest her eyes a little. The library is not as crowded as it sometimes could be, but still, dozens of students are reading and studying inside. Most are sitting at the desks, their eyes fixed on a book or their quills moving fast on a piece of parchment. And a few are by the shelves, looking for a book to read. Cassie has recently put a few copies of her own booklet about Cassie's enchanted Ballet in the shelves, hoping that some students tired of studying might want to take a look at it.

Cassie feels a bit dizzy looking at the high shelves and the countless books in the library. So she decides to stand up and walk around a bit so she won't get stiff after sitting in a chair for too long. She wanders to the shelves, and spots a familiar glimpse of blue and purple. She pays a closer look, and recognizes her own booklet-- Cassie's Enchanted Ballet, on the hands of a young girl, who seems to be a Ravenclaw. The girl is reading the booklet carefully.

Cassie quickly returns to her seat, takes a copy of the Ravenclaw covered booklet and walks to the girl. 'Hi,' she says in a soft voice, hoping not to scare the girl, 'I am Cassie Jiang, the author of this booklet.' she points to the pages, 'Thank you for being interested in my booklet and my performance.' she smiles.

Madeline looks up from reading the booklet on the Enchanted Ballet and sees the girl that has just approached her. She is a little taken aback, she is not used to being approached by people when she is reading. But then after a second what the girl said sinks in and she recognizes her from the booklet.

'Erm... Oh, uh, Hi! I am Madeline. I was in here reading and looking around. I have never seen a library so big, and I just could not help myself and was looking around at different books, and was looking through the shelves. I found this book on transfiguration, and saw so many other books, and...'

Madeline paused to take a breath and realized that she was rambling. She had been so caught off guard by being approached that she just started to ramble about everything else, but had not addressed the statement that the girl had made.

'Sorry... I tend to ramble. I saw this when I was going through the shelves. I have never been very graceful, and I thought it might be interesting to read, and maybe watch, now that I know you are having a performance.'

She took another deep breath to keep her pace calm so she didn't start to ramble again.

"How long have you been dancing? Is it difficult to do all of these moves? You must be in good shape to be able to do all of these things? What made you interested in dancing? What...'

She paused again, looking sheepish, realizing she was rapidly asking questions without waiting for a response, and had not said anything good about the booklet.

'Sorry. It is a very nice booklet. I didn't know they let students leave booklets in the library.'

She stopped herself from rambling again and decided that she should just be silent for a minute and let the Cassie respond to the myriad of things that she had rambled in the last few seconds.
