A Charming Sweep
Many people say that autumn is the most beautiful and colorful time of year, but Madeline always loved the Spring time. This is the time of year that everything seems to come back to life from hibernating, dying, or shedding their coverings. The colors of all of the flowers, tree buds, and the newly formed leaves on all of the trees always excited her. With the weather finally becoming a more bearable temperature Madeline also found herself walking around barefoot more often.
The one thing that she did not like, was all of the shedding Pygmy Puff fluff all over the place. Madeline did love the look of all of the colors from the Pygmy Puff fur, but to have it all over the place was extremely annoying because it would get stuck to the bottom of her feet when she walked around barefoot.
So on one particularly fluffy Spring day Madeline was surprised, and quite happy when she say a note hung on her favorite classroom door asking for help cleaning up all of the fur. Madeline had noticed that for the last few days her Charms professor had been sneezing more than usual, and blowing her nose in the middle of class - this note explained a lot to Madeline.
Her first thought was to use a spell, but then, what spell would she use for all of this fluff? Could she make it all dance away, or float away? No, she would need to put in the actual work, find a broom (not the flying kind), and dustpan and actually sweep up all of the fluff. She had already cleaned out her bedroom, but now she would work on cleaning up the hallway in front of the the Charms classroom.
Now, the first task is going to be finding a broom and dustpan to use in order to clean the floor. She turns from the Charms room and begins to search for a broom closet, or for the grounds keeper. Unfortunately for Madeline, both of these seem to be in short supply at the moment, as she was not able to find what she needed. She continue her search, knowing that the only way she could fail at this task, and let down her favorite Professor would be to give up and stop looking. So, she began to look in the more obscure areas, knowing that this castle has many hidden corridors and hidden rooms - and some of them hiding behind tapestries and other things.
Madeline began going from tapestry to tapestry pulling them back looking the spaces behind the tapestries looking for anything that would help. Finally, after going down so many corridors that she lost count, she finally found an out of the way broom closet, it wasn't hidden behind a tapestry, just was not something that she usually looked for. She took the broom and dustpan back to the Charms Classroom hallway determined that she would get the hall swept up.
As she started sweeping her mind went to her mum, who was always having her do this type of work around the house.
For the first time she could think of, she was happy that her mum had made her do these chores around the house - banish the thought. She swept the hallway just as her mum had taught her, sweeping everything in one small area into a small pile, and then using the dustpan to collect the sweepings and deposit them into the refuse. After creating at least 6 little piles in different areas in front of the Charms classroom Madeline picked up each pile, and deposited them in the refuse. She looked back at the hallway, took a deep breath and took some good satisfaction in her hard work. She had used her mind, and her body to do a task that needed doing, for someone that needed assistance. It may not have been the most glamorous assignment or task, but it was worth it.
Now, the only thing left to Madeline was to retrace her steps to the out of the way broom closet and return the broom and dustpan - it will be needed again shortly, I have no doubt.

It's good for ye. Not everything needs to be done using magic, even if ye can do. There is something to be said about putting in some good ole fashion hard work.
