Hello! Oh, how I miss you already! I'm sorry that it's taken me a while to write, but things got very busy, what with settling in and everything. You know, I'm really not used to being so far away from you all, let alone in a whole other country! Scotland is beautiful, as you've probably guessed. I quite love the weather, too, and the way that the place looks this early into fall. The train ride over here was simply magnificent, and I got a beautiful first look at both the country and at the school. It's huge, ginormous, and I can't believe I'm here! I feel almost like a princess! I'm a Slytherin, which is one of the houses. It represents the values of cunning and ambition. I don't know if it quite fits me, but the Sorting Hat chose it for me, so I trust that it was right! Wait, you don't even know what that is, now do you? Well, the Sorting Hat is a talking hat that they put on the new students' heads to see inside of their heads and pick out which of the four houses are best for each of them! As for the houses, there's Gryffindor, which is bravery and chivalry. There's Ravenclaw, representing smarts and wisdom. There's Hufflepuff, with loyalty and kindness. Lastly, there's Slytherin, which is me! Thank goodness I look pretty good in green, because I'm wearing quite a lot of it here!
Apparently, each house has its own color, and mine is green! I still can't believe that I'm here, that I have magic at all! Speaking of which, classes are going great so far! I've already been learning some things, and I am really enjoying it!
Who knew that there were so many types of magic, and that each of them has more spells and such within that, and different types of some spells, and there are just so many things to learn! I don't know if I'll ever be able to master it all, but I sure will try!
I've been spending most of my free time in the Library, which is absolutely beautiful. Somehow, they have so many books here that we could fill our whole house with them! You know how much I love reading, though, and this really speaks to my heart.
Of course, not as much as getting to see you all will! Don't worry, I'll owl more between now and then, but I will be getting to come back home and visit you all over the winter break! I can't wait to spend Christmas with you, and to get to make cookies and eat all of the frosting with you guys, just like we always do!
Oh, also, please make sure to water my plants, because the garden isn't going to take care of itself! I'd really appreciate you all not letting it die, if you can manage that! I would so love to bring back some magical plants to you all for us to put in there, but I'm pretty sure there's a law against that or something, and anyways, I don't think I should put an aggressive Chomping Cabbage or something in my bag for it to chew up all of my stuff.
Okay, well, I have to get ready for class soon, I'd hate to be late! But please don't worry about me here, I've made so many amazing friends already and I can't wait to make some more as the year goes on! I can't wait to see you all and get to talk to you in person, but for now, I just have to settle for a 'see you later', and a goodbye!
