Shot Through The Heart.

February 14th; Aka: Valentines day
Around midday
The Hogwarts Courtyard
It was a rather pleasant day. The sun was high in the sky, and it shone brightly. There wasn't a fluffy cloud in sight, only blue skies. A chilly wind pushed through the long corridors that surrounded the grassy courtyard. This day was a very special day, and many students were enjoying the company of their special someone.
A single dark cloud sat above the head of a one Jack Warren. His usually affable demeanor was marred by a large scowl. It wasn't normally Jack's style to go knock ice cream out of a kid's hand, but by the expression that he wore on his face...Today he just might. The young Hufflepuff stomped across the grass and walked into the shade of the covered stone terrace. All the lovey-dovey, mushy-gushy, ooey-gooey feelings that made up this terrible day only made Jack annoyed and irritable. Why couldn't people just get a room and leave everybody else alone?
A loud sigh escaped his lips, as Jack had to sidestep to avoid another hand-holding couple that was trotting around. He has the slightest mind to make a rude gesture, but he knew it would go unnoticed. Once again in a huff, Jack sat down on the long gothically designed windowless frames that were all directed towards the small open grassy mall that resided in the center. Off in the distance, Jack caught sight of another couple who faced battling one another.
"Couldn't these people go snogging somewhere else?" The boy asked irritably, to nobody in particular.

Shot Through The Heart.
With large steps, the girl was hurrying up to her room, fuming. Officially, it had to be the worst day of the year! First, her roommate woke her up earlier than the usual so she could talk about her boyfriend and almost showed her out of the room, in case he came there (of course, boys weren’t allowed into the girls’ dormitories, but with each year passing, the girls were getting more and more inventive…) Next, her favorite seat in the class was taken, because a Griffindor couldn’t live without her Ravenclaw boyfriend for 1 hour. So, she had to sit in the front, where the Professor could observe her every move. And now, that stupid third year had the guts to take the last piece of pudding in front of her eyes! While she was the first to spot it! And why? Because of his girlfriend!
Looking left and right, the blonde girl wanted to take every couple from the campus, and lock them somewhere so she could at least walk down the halls without having to cringe at their public displays. Stopping in her tracks, the girl stared into the courtyard, eyes softening a bit. Of course, she caught sight of yet another couple, but this time she didn’t get angry anymore. Instead, she got closer, sitting next to one of the window frames. After all, why was she so angry? Those couples were just enjoying themselves, who was she to judge them? A small voice in her head, the cold and logical one, told her it was because she hated the hypocrisy that was between most couples. I mean, why do they have to be so extra? Love isn't measured by how much you snog with each other. Though, another voice, this time the more sentimental one, told her it was because she didn't-
Heather’s string of thoughts was suddenly interrupted by a voice, coming from next to her.
"Couldn't these people go snogging somewhere else?" Looking to her right, the girl noticed a boy- presumably a Hufflepuff, judging by his robes. It seemed she wasn’t the only one who despised the love-dovey atmosphere. Finally, a level-minded person! Without thinking, the Ravenclaw spoke up “I know, it seems like suddenly every single student is in love and can’t keep it to themselves for at least 10 seconds! I swear, from now on I’ll hide every Valentine’s day in the bathroom, at least there isn't any stupid love-related crap! I think..” The girl trailed off, awkwardly. Suddenly remembering something, she groaned. Moaning Myrtle was in the toilets- and the girl had a feeling the ghost, too, loved the holiday. Gods, she didn't think she could survive this day any longer!

Surprised, Jack hadn't expected a response to his random outburst. However, the response made him snort a bit. To his side was a blonde girl, and apparently she was just as fed up with this day as Jack was. Lovely to know that he wasn't alone in his misery. As the saying goes misery loves company.
The rather shaggy boy couldn't help but chuckle at the girl's rather annoyed statement. A silly grin pulled across the boy's face. "I know right? It's like these people are desperate to make everybody try to gag themselves." The boy slowly scratched at a new looking scar that crossed his face, as he inspected the Ravenclaw girl. Jack was glad that he wasn't absolutely alone in the dislike of this day. He had glanced away to watch more passersby, and after a moment Jack looked back at the girl. Again another chuckle escaped from the boy. "Also, might I add...the bathrooms probably have way too much lovey-dovey stuff. I wouldn't recommend searching through the bathrooms." One of his eyebrows popped up, and he wore an amused expression. "Also, might I add...the bathrooms probably have way too much lovey-dovey stuff. Heather laughed at Jack's remark. "Yeah, I've been avoiding the bathrooms for some time, to be honest... A random ghost coming up to you and almost giving you a heart attack isn't the best experience," replied the girl, remembering that incident from 2 days ago. Why did she have to get so easily scared?
"Either way, everything is better than seeing one more couple being all over each other!" It wasn't like Heather hated romance. Not at all, but seeing so many people hugging, holding hands and kissing made her feel uncomfortable. Weird. It didn't help that her father's death anniversary was coming up, either. She was, plain and simple, annoyed by the fact that people were so happy, while she was getting sadder and sadder.
Looking back at the boy, which was a Hufflepuff, judging by his robe color, the girl smiled sheepishly, scratching the back of her head "Oh, by the way, I didn't introduce myself. I'm Heather." Shaking hands with the Hufflepuff, the girl's gaze wandered, taking in his appearance. His brownish hair was disheveled, and the girl noticed a small scar next to his lips. She was tempted to ask him where had he got the scar, but decided not to. She didn't even know his name yet!

"Yeah, I've been avoiding the bathrooms fro some time, to be honest... A random ghost coming up to you and almost giving you a heart attack isn't the best experience," The Ravenclaw had started. The way she spoke sounded as if she was talking from experience.
As she spoke a small grin popped up across his face, and Jack quirked his head sideways slightly. "Sounds like you've had a shocking run-in with a spooky ghost." He let out a small laugh, glancing around for a moment. The flocks of students that were walking seemed to be congregating in pairs honestly surprised him.
"Oh, by the way, I didn't introduce myself. I'm Heather." The girl's voice cut through his inner monologue. Pulling his eyes away from the sheep of the school and back to the blonde.
"Jack. I'm Jack Warren." He gave her a little smirk and shook her hand. "I'm glad to find another person who wants to gag every time I see all these people trying to show off their love" He put a large bit of emphasis on the word love. "I mean look at those kids!" Jack suddenly and randomly pointed off into the crowd, directly at two kids snogging each other. "Don't they have a class or something to go to?! I mean c'mon!"

"I mean look at those kids! Don't they have a class or something to go to?! I mean c'mon!"
The boy’s sudden movements startled the Ravenclaw for a moment. She quickly regained her composure and looked in the direction Jack was pointing. Sighing, she let out a small smile then looked elsewhere.
“Just give them a few days. I can guarantee that those two will probably end up screaming bloody murder at each other’s faces,” looking down at her feet, the girl continued “I don’t want to come off as mean, but that’s the truth. Couples at this age are just kids being delusional.”
Glancing back at the lovebirds, she laughed a little.“But if they are enjoying themselves, I don’t judge them. Maybe this is what happiness means for them, being in a relationship. They could find other secluded places to smooch though,” she mused, putting a hand under her chin. “Somewhere where I don’t have to run face-to-face with them every single time I try to relax!”
Suddenly a random kid passed, congratulating her and Jack. Heather’s brows furrowed. Why would he...? Then it dawned on the girl what that student thought about them. Embarrassed, the girl took a step back. “Gosh, I am sorry,” apologized the blonde, even though she had no fault. “ It seems like these days you can’t even talk with someone without people misunderstanding it.” Shaking her head, Heather hoped none of her friends saw her. If they did, she would never hear the end of their teasing!
@Jack Warren Sorry for the long wait!! From now on I'll try to be more active!
