Lily's footsteps echoed softly agaisnt the corridor floor as she made her way to her first Charms class, her satchel filled with her notes from her reading of all the notes and The Book of Spells. She has been amazed by the castle's magical looks and big format, but today she felt overwhelmed by all of it. She didn't know of any one in her Charms class, and wasn't sure she would be able to make a friend. What if she sat alone the whole semester while everyone around laughed and whispered to their friends. What if her wand faltered on some of the simplest spells, and she didn't have anyone to help her out.

Charms was the class Lily had been most excited for, but as she stepped in she feared the worst. The classroom was filled with students already. Laughter filled the space and added dreadful sadness for Lily. She hovered at the door for a second, before finding a good spot still empty. The seats next to her were also left empty still, and Lily wondered if they would get filled or not.

She was near the front, and in clear sight of te teacher which was always Lily's favourite spot for learning. That settled her a little as she waited for a silent semester to start. Then, just as the class would start soon, Lily caught sight of a familiar figure dressed in Ravenclaw robes.

Andrea entered the Charms classroom along with the other first years, most already beaming with excitement while some—like herself—still felt a bit of drowsiness this early in the morning. While her other hand was occupied with her study materials, the other lightly slapped her own cheek to wake herself up.

The classroom had almost been completely filled, except for a few seats near the front of the room. This is great! She thought. Andrea had always preferred being able to see and listen up close to maximize her focus, as she gets distracted quite easily.

She didn't seem to mind not having many friends, as opposed to her first thoughts before entering Hogwarts. She liked the peaceful environment, being able to enjoy the school quietly. Andrea continued to arrange her books and writing materials before the class would start, not paying any mind to the other students around her.

She was quite focused, organizing her materials based on size and utility. She was almost finished until she felt a light tap on her shoulder. She directed her attention towards the student to her right, her eyes widening. "Oh, Lily!" The girl who had tapped her shoulder was no other than the first student she's met, Lily Young—hair styled neatly and dressed in her Slytherin robes.

Lily's shoulders had lossened from the second she had noticed Andrea, relief filling her up. The fear that had been sitting in her chest all morning had dissipated enough for her to breathe freely again. She realised that she had earlier been tired, but the excitement of seeing Andrea had succeeded to fully wake her up.

She had almost expected Andrea to be sitting somewhere else, sorrounded by other Ravenclaws or others. Instead, there she was close enough to talk to. Her presence made the classroom feel less intimidating and a little more like somewhere she might actually belong.

Lily gave a small smile and went to tap Andrea's shoulder. "Hi," she said quietly, Andrea propably couldn't hear her, as her voice didn't carry much over the noise from the other students. "I'm glad you're here, I thought I 'd have to spend this class sitting alone and tired all the time." Lily admitted shyly, her words filled with honesty. She felt more confident and didn't mind admitting to her lack to friends. She had Andrea now, and she hoped they be good friends.

She looked at the seat next to Andrea, noticing that it was empty. "Do you mind if I sit here?" She asked as she sat down, hoping Andrea would say yes.

"Do you mind if I sit here?" Lily asked, hopeful and clearly shy.

"I don't mind at all! Make yourself comfortable."Andrea replied, nodding over to the empty seat beside her. She grinned, genuinely glad that she had stumbled upon the Slytherin once again. Hogwarts was massive and often overwhelming, finding a familiar face in a crowded classroom honestly felt like pure luck.

Andrea watched Lily settle into the seat beside her, noticing how the girl's posture instantly relaxed. It was a quiet relief she understood all too well. Although she cherished solitude, it didn't mean she liked being completely alone all of the time—especially in a crowded area. A familiar figure showing up in an unfamiliar environment had completely made Andrea's day brighter.

Andrea tidied up her books, quills, and parchments one last time, giving Lily her full attention, "I was actually quite worried I'd have to spend this class alone. I'm really glad you're here." She admitted, tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear. Andrea felt a sense of comfort knowing that for thr next hour, she wouldn't have to learn new things alone. Having a friend by her side turned a potentially boring lesson into something she actually looked forward to.

Lily felt the relief course through her as she finished settling in next to a welcoming Andrea, who made her feel excitment for the class ahead. Andrea never made Lily feel dismissed or overlooked, and Andrea's own admisson of worry made her feel les alone in the overcrowded classroom.

"I'm glad too," Lily whispered, her voice soft and steady, as she tucked back a strand of hair. She smiled, "I kept thinking I'd be the only one without someone to talk to or whisper questions to when the teacher started to teach confusing subjects. I've studied up and read all that I could in fear that I wouldn't have anybody to help me but I'm not confident I'll be good once I'll need to put everything to practice." The words flew out of her in such a rush, Lily barely caught her breath.

Her fingers brushed over her notes, looking on with curiosity and shyness. Lily knew she was looking for a distraction now, as she felt embarassed, but she also knew not to need to feel this embarassement with Andrea. Lily had started to consider if her new friend would consider after class studying to gether. But she held on to that thought for later.

Andrea laughed off Lily's nervousness with a gentle, reassuring wave of her hand. "Same here! I didn't plan on meeting a friend, so I made sure to study in advance just so I could avoid asking questions during our lecture." She admitted, shrugging her shoulders.

Despite her calm and collected composure, Andrea meant every word she said. She had purposefully woken up a little earlier than everybody else in her dormitory, wanting to study the basics of her class since she didn't want to ask for too much help. She didn't expect to sit with someone she knew—especially in a room with new faces—so she was genuinely delighted the moment she spotted Lily.

She realized she and Lily surprisingly hadmany things in common. Even though this was only their second interaction, it had felt like she's known the girl for months. Andrea wanted to know more about Lily, she wanted to officially become friends instead of acquaintances.

That would have to wait. Andrea's thoughts were cut short as their professor had finally entered the classroom, clutching a book and already giving out instructions. She gave Lily one last smile before straightening her posture and facing front as the class oficially started.

Lily felt a smile settle on her face as Andrea's gentle laugh and reassuring smile of her own brushed away any embarassment. The shared admission that they both studied before this class to avoid having to ask for help, made Lily realised they were similar in many ways. She might have barely knew this girl, but she wanted to know much more and officially become her friend.

Before she could reply, the teacher walked in, Lily staightened and looked ahead. As the class went on, Lily felt that her earlier studying made this class feel simple. She seemed to like that, some of her other classes felt a little overwhelming with information but this one was perfect. She couldn't tell for sure if it was in reason of her studying of because she had a friend in this one.

Class was halfway through when they got the opportunity to practice the movements of wand and enouciation the words. During this time Lily looked next to her at Andrea and asked, "This is fun," Lily had the move and enouciation quite on point. She figured she could take a break from practicing, everyone was talking over her as they practiced anyway. She wanted to learn a bit more about Andrea, maybe ask to be friends and not just acquaintances and figured now was a good time. "Hope this isn't too out of the blue, or strange but would you ever like to hang out more. Spend time outsdie of class and maybe meet up not accidently?" She asked shyly, stumbling around and looking straight over Andrea's shoulder.

The class was instructed to practice the charm that was just taught. As the two girls started waving their wands and spouting charms—that were pronounced slightly off—Lily suddenly asked, "Would you ever like to hang out more?"

Andrea shortly paused, her hand freezing mid-wave. She stared at Lily, blinking twice. Slowly, a big bright grin grew on her face. "I'd love to!" She responded, a bit too loud. A collective Shh! came from the other first years—one even nudging her back—as they practiced their wand movements. She winced in embarrassment and whispered frantic apologies.

To say that Andrea was happy was an understatement, she was absolutely ecstatic. She hadn't made any friends, having spent almost her entire childhood staying at home with only her cat and the house elves for company. Because of her lack of genuine company, Lily asking to hangout felt like a huge milestone in her new journey at school.

She adjusted her grip on her wand, trying to regain her calm composure, though the pure excitement made her heart flutter. "I was hoping you'd ask." She whispered, leaning in so she wouldn't disturb the other students again. "We could find a nice spot to sit by the courtyard or meet in the library whenever you're free! I'd love to get to know you more."

Lily was relieved the second she saw Andrea's smile and heard her exctied, "I'd love to!". Lily barely registered that the other classmates were sushing. She hoped I'd ask. That confession settled deep, and made Lily glad she wasn't wrong about this new friend.

Courtyard or library, she didn't care. A chance to learn more and become friends with Andrea was amazing and mattered more than choosing where to meet. Leaning a little closer, as to not disturb the others, Lily whispered "The Courtyard sounds perfect, maybe tomorrow after classes?" She was hopeful, and quite happy with this new possibility. Lily went back to practicing her wand movement as the teacher walked around to check on students improvements.

She noticed that her focus was sharper and that the smile on her face hadn't left now that she knew she'd made a friend. Lily had been struggling with that. With her past being secluded to homeschooling and not going out much to have the chance to make friends, this felt incledible. She never thought anyone would want to be her friend let alone did she ever consider she'd be the one getting over her nerves and asking someone to be her friend. She had always been too shy.

"We could talk and do any homework we get at the endof class if we feel like it." She asked as the teacher began to speak once more.

Andrea listened to Lily's suggestions with a lightness in her chest that she hadn't felt for a while. Every word Lily spoke—the courtyard, the timing, the idea of working on homework together—felt like a perfect puzzle piece snapping into place. She nodded excitedly, her eyes bright with a buzz of joy.

"That sounds great! I'll be there, a hundred percent." Andrea whispered back, her voice almost silent yet full of delight.

As the professor went on about the precise wrist snap required for the charm, Andrea found her usual calm replaced by a sharp focus. She gripped her wand with renewed purpose, her movements fluid and energetic. However, while practicing wand movements, she had almost accidentally hit Lily, narrowly missing her ear by an inch.

Andrea gasped, setting her hand down instantly. She flushed from embarrassment. "Merlin, Lily! I am so sorry! I got a little carried away..." She let out a small shy giggle, relieved she didn't hit her friend.

The rest of the class flew by in a blur of chaotic wand waving and mispronounced charm. When they were dismissed, Andrea began shoving parchment into her leather tote bag. She paused at the desk, slinging her bag over her shoulder and giving lily a wide, beaming grin. "I've got to go to my next class, but I'm seriously looking forward to our hang out tomorrow. See you later, Lily!"
