Amelia stared at her messy parchment pile, exasperated. She'd been working on this essay for so long, and still couldn't comprehend it. Rows upon rows of crossed out and scribbled words stared back at her scowling face, mocking her.

With a grunt, she shuffled the parchment, wondering whether she should just throw it all away. She couldn't, though. Throwing her own hard work would be such a shame. There must be something she could use in these treacherous words...

Sighing, she started packing impatiently. She let the papers rub against each other, not caring about the rustling it had caused, not minding the silence she had broken. She'd made sure to take her inkwell and the quill, after putting the parchment in her bag. There wasn't much left in her work area when she was done; just a jacket and the books she took out of the library shelves earlier, sitting on the desk, some still splayed open.

Well, that was it, then. She'd have to return soon, since the essay was to be submitted in a few days, but for now, Amelia chose to take a break. She didn't like feeling devastated like this, and over homework, none the less! There should be plenty of time tomorrow...

Taking a deep breath to calm herself, Amelia pulled the bag onto her shoulder. She picked up the jacket too, letting it swing on her arm rather than wear it, and turned to leave, her ponytail bouncing and tapping on her back merrily as she walked, unlike her own mood. She started to feel better the closer she got to the exit, though.

Her school robes swished around her legs as she navigated between the shelves, some of which were to house the books she'd used earlier. Now the books's spots stood empty, waiting for them to be returned. But that wasn't Amelia's job— that was what Hogwarts employed a librarian for, along with a whole team of houselves.

She passed the shelves without a second thought, ready to leave the depressing hall, perhaps even grab a snack before dinner, and enjoy what was left of the day.

It has been a normal day for Cassie. As usual, she heads for the library right after her Herbology lesson this Wednesday afternoon. Taking a chair by the window, she carefully stacks her books on the corner of the table. She gets a piece of parchment, dips her quill in ink and starts doing her History of Magic essay. She keeps the noise of her quill rubbing with parchment low, so as not to disturb all the other students studying.

Getting better and better with her academics, Cassie is now able to finish her homework and studies without much effort. She quickly writes a long and neat essay. The sun is shining warmly, making her mood better than ever. 'Maybe I should go for a walk and study some more in the common room.' she thinks.

That is when she heard some noise coming from a nearby desk. She looks up and sees a Slytherin girl gathering her things. The young girl keeps making noises and sighing. Cassie frowns, she always dislikes those students with bad manners. The girl is heading towards Cassie's desk now, leaving all the books she borrowed from the library back on her desk.

At once Cassie stands up in the way that girl is going. 'Excuse me,' she is not smiling, her voice sounds cold, 'I suppose it is basic manners to return the books back to the shelves or to the librarian when you leave? And,' she stares at the girl with a disapproving look, lowering her voice so she won't disturb others, 'the noises you are making have been disturbing others'
Sorry for the late reply <3

Out of nowhere, a girl spawned in front of Amelia, startling the absentminded child. The young Slytherin jumped in surprise, holding onto her bag, as if the fabric could protect her. Her eyes widened in shock, trying to take the scene in. The other girl seemed quite hostile, blocking Amelia's way and speaking coldly, harshly, even.

Confused, Amelia took a step back, lowering her bag as she did so. Her heart was still beating faster than she'd have liked, but she'd already started calming down once she realized it was just another student. A bit rude, but still a student. What was this girl even talking about? Basic manners? Noise? Was she not allowed to be a human and make noise?! Her thoughts started spiraling, making her upset. Who was this girl to begin with, dictating for her what she could and could not do?!

"I... What? Nosey much, aren't you?" Though she started in a rather confused voice, the rest was said with Amelia's most mocking tone, in an attempt to keep the higher ground. Amelia settled for a judgy expression, her mouth a thin line, trying to bring the judgy tone to her face features as well.

Offended as she was, Amelia decided she did not want to continue this... whatever it was. She wasn't even sure why she was so offended— she told herself it was the way the girl had spoken to her, and... No, she won't bother herself with this nonsense. She'd had enough nonsense today, she didn't need this girl and her ideologies on top of her homework!

She couldn't leave, however. She felt rooted to her spot, odd thoughts forming in her mind, fading before she could understand them. Green eyes stared at the blue ones, feeling exposed, as if she was guilty of some heinous crime. She wasn't, though! Amelia knew she wasn't. Collecting books was a job for the librarian and the houselves!

Cassie feels furious when she hears the rude girl say that she is being NOSEY. Cassie is a girl with a sense of justice, so she tries her best to stand out when she sees something wrong being done, whether it is against the rules or simply something that shows bad manners.

'What bad banners' she exclaims, in a voice not so big but enough for the Slytherin girl to hear. 'I am really sorry to know that no one has ever taught you basic manners in the library and the simple fact that one must not affect others when everyone's studying hard. It is such a pity that not a single person has pointed out this fact for you before. Your parents didn't, your professors didn't, even your friends, if you have got any, have never let you know this thing. I would like you to remind you one last time, it is rude for you to make noises, even if you are annoyed by your homework or whatever in a place that is meant to be kept quiet. And, it is even ruder for you to leave things messy in a public space, adding to the workload of the librarian.' Cassie looks at the girl, hoping to see that she has understood how wrong she was. But she failed. The girl's annoyed look remains.

Cassie knows that it is of no use at all to say anymore to such a girl with poor manners, it will just waste her time. So she simply turns and exits the library, not giving the girl another chance to say anything anymore.

Amelia kept her face frozen, her entire body a statue, as was her mind. Her thoughts have taken a break, leaving her speechless and unsure what to do. Was this girl yelling at her? Unfortunately, she thought bitterly, the girl wasn't contradicting herself; she kept the library's requested silence. She spoke quietly, but Amelia still felt as if she was being yelled at. The girl's words might've made sense, but Amelia couldn't care less at the moment.

Tears pricked at her eyes, confusing her even more. She was upset, not sad or anything, why was she on the edge of crying?! She wasn't even the type to cry! The young one did her best to not move, lest the tears would show; she wasn't willing to show this girl how she'd made her feel.

She took a deep breath, willing herself to calm down, trying to force the unwanted and irrelevant feeling in her eyes back down. Blinking slowly in her attempt, Amelia opened her eyes to find herself glaring at nothing. The girl had left, leaving Amelia to watch her step out of the library.

It felt as though her body was suddenly unlocked, able to listen to her again; perhaps as a reaction to the girl's absence. Whatever the reason was, Amelia didn't mind. She took a deep breath, letting the threat of tears fade away, standing in place for one more moment. Then, releasing the breath, she exited the library slowly, her pace quickening the farther she went. Thoughts swirled in her mind like a hurricane, confusion settling.

The tears never left her eyes, but Amelia could still feel them burning inside her. No matter. This girl's words were empty to her, she decided, chosing ignorance, and doing her utmost best at it.
