@Xailah Alptraum and @Aurelia Notrésvace
Fortuitously, Pericles did not perceive himself as being left behind. The metamorph was on a mission and so was he. He followed her lead, keeping pace, heeding her instruction. But it wasn't Xailah's job to hold his hand or carry his weight tonight. Hearing her offer a chance to slip away made him grin, though the nature of that expression was a task to try and read, given one could not see the sincerity in his eyes. "I'll try to compensate with spells in exchange for your strategy. If you'll have me along?" Spacing out was advantageous. Veiled by expressionless lenses, his stare slid over the participants for a final round of sizing up opponents, ear fixed on the Gryffindor girl's guidance.

Isaac Dralt had shared many a story with his son. In an auror's detached way, he had described in detail the sensations of spells at bedtime, childhood stories laced with real-world perils to provide real-world preparation. Among his son's favorites was that of a golden-haired agent gathering intelligence on a family of werewolves- three, to be exact- when they returned home in the midst of her prying. It was a riveting story about the importance of evasion, the necessity of tactic, and overcoming impossible odds. It certainly wasn't a wizard's bootleg retelling of a common muggle story. Old tales such as these, coupled with recounts from the auror's actual exploits, had inspired the boy for years. But nothing could fully prepare him for his first "battle". Stories and studying didn't stop his heart from pounding in his ears, nor did it prevent a haze of nervous static from clouding his thoughts. Xailah's instructions were a lifeline in this sea of uncertainty and excessive excitement.

They were in the first ball's range, but whoever obtained it now would become the target of everyone else. She was right: it was best to trim their potential opponents. When the girl picked her own and flung her Flipendo however, he could not help noticing the tinge of contrition to her tone. It was only a game, right? Those he targeted wouldn't possibly take an attack personally... would they? Struggling to press the nerves from his mind, Pericles scanned for a soloist as the metamorph advised. For now, he would avoid targeting Rafael, Anastasia, Astrea, or Aurelia....

Aurelia, who was hurling a Knockback Jinx his way.

Abandoning the unfortunate target whom he had singled out, the boy blurted a hasty "Lookout!" before trying to toss himself out of the spell's trajectory.

Inner screaming was something that Piérre was quite good at. Panic had set in a long time ago, indeed, when he was hardly 6 years old, and it had never quite fully left him. Perhaps he should have been placed on medication for anxiety a long time ago, but evidently between a brilliant façade of seeming able-mindedness and Piérre's naturally happy-go-lucky traits, it had never properly been noted or diagnosed. Perhaps for the better, perhaps for the worse, but either way for the sheer (pointlessness?) of the game.

The little boy was beginning to understand a little better what the game was about, though he didn't quite understand why there were three rings and two balls. Certainly, the rugby ball and the Quaffle could be something worth snagging for the sake of snagging, but as of now, and with the amount of people who were thundering for the prizes in the second and third rings, the Britalian was able to refrain from charging into the fray after them.

No, with all the spells thrown about, it would be better to remain in the center of the playing field, especially if the rings were connected with the range set up for disqualification. If the young boy could manage not to get thrown out or knocked out for long enough, he was sure that perhaps he could have a sporting chance at winning the game yet. Perhaps he wouldn't have to worry about violently fighting over a leather ball at all! Hahahahaha…

Astrea's wand buzzed with compressed energy as she wielded it, a sense of power that rushed through the Slytherin's entire body and connected with a jet of green that burst from the tip toward her target. It was exhilarating- something that it only seemed to be in SWAG games, a feeling of rushing blood and such deep satisfaction at a perfect cast in the face of real, gritty duel practice that never truly hit her near anywhere else in Hogwarts.

A surge of deep satisfaction hit her as Ruthie started a fit of sneezing, the flawless knockback jinx the blonde cast swinging far out toward the patch of green grass that Astrea knew spectators sat, so close to the play area that collateral damage was only expected. Yet her attention was quickly caught by a laugh, genuine and undoubtedly right next to her- the Slytherin glanced over briefly towards Aurelia with a bright look of feral delight, an almost ominously giddy feeling of fulfilment pulling her face into a smirk at the other aristocrat's approving smile. It seemed as if the rounds brought out something near animalistic in her, ripping past a part of her that she kept tucked under silken wraps and decorated with a pretty bow of careful impassiveness.

In the last game, she had most likely made an enemy of Erik Tharaldson- this game would most likely prove no different. Stormy eyes lightened near silver as they caught the light, tracking the bitter form of the girl Aurelia had targeted with vivid entertainment- the death glares, the foul actions, the salty disposition. It was all too childish, all too expressive and so different from the prim and proper life Astrea lived in. And that made the other a perfect little target. "Flipendo."

From next to her, Aurelia informed poor Rafael- poor only in situation, blindfolded and attacked from near all sides, Rafael was broadly strong yet not apparently not as gifted in magical ability-, and Astrea caught the silent smirking wink like a shooting star. One eyebrow quirked in amusement, sharing silently in a second of mirth that could only be identified if specifically observing her microexpressions. She had no ill will for the boy, he had practically saved her from getting a fist to the face during Two Flags, but having a little fun never hurt anyone. And if it did- well, this was something they all signed up for.

Her eyes widening in shock as she watched multiple spells fly in Raf's direction. She wasn't anyone's knight in shining armor, but at least her spell didn't cause any physical harm. Watching the first one dart in his direction, the second hit, and the third miss, she couldn't help but grin slightly. Although her spell partially hit him, Emma found a little bit of joy in spellcasting. She didn't do it often for obvious reasons, but the small amounts of glee were taking her back to dueling with Meenauh and even then she had an amazing time.

There was truly no point in going after him again. The blindfold wasn't on tight, to say the least, but she was confident in her abilities, and she had more important matters to handle, but punching Aurelia would be an obvious foul; that was a definite no. There was also the witch that targeted Ruthie, however. She couldn't stand germs. The Ravenclaw could have easily cast a spell on Ruthie to get rid of the effects, and possibly even save her the chance of becoming ill... if that's how it worked. But once again, she was overthinking and couldn't come up with a clear decision.

And you- are- it! Playing a rapid childhood game, the brunette raised the aspen wood and pointed it at the Slytherin girl. "Rictusempra!" She called out. Admittedly, it did feel strange to be using the spell against anyone but her rival.

[font=Segoe Print]Well, karma was a real bitch.

All Rafael wanted to do was grab the Quaffle. It was a small request – one would have thought the universe would have cut him a break, for once in his miserable, unlucky life. But, no, no, no, God Forbid anything good ever happen to him. It would be a freaking tragedy to the invisible readers, wouldn’t it?

As he’d crossed the invisible barrier between the zones, he’d been fired at with a volley of multiple spells – he’d only had a split second to register his movements, the light catching the corner of his eye and activating his steely reflexes, causing him to promptly dodge their terrible attacks, jumping cleanly out of the jaws of impending pain. His eyes, once focused acutely on the red leather ball in front of him, were now shot wide with fear as he erratically looked around for further perpetrators, his bottom lip quivering in slight irritability. What was with people? It seemed as if the two casters had been some unimportant Slytherin girl [that was, all Slytherins were meaningless and evil], and even more surprising, his good mate, Katrina – which, confused him to no end. Of course it would be like an inferior Slytherin to harm him, but his very own friend?

What better proof against the universe’s case?

However, he would hardly have to consider this dizzying fact, as another spell was shortly fired his way – Emma Hill’s, to be precise, the only Captain of the Quidditch Team he had yet to go head-to-head with in an official match. It was no surprise that she was superior in her magic, as she was of course a third year, who had more experience in casting and a larger repertoire of spells at her disposal. But, really, who half-missed someone as tall as him? Her spell fired pristinely across the field, hitting him only partially – a blind instantly covered his eyes, only minimal light slipping through the bottom. Which, was sort of pathetic. He could still see some light, goddammit.

"The ball. It's right in front of you, D'Spacito."

“Shut up,” he jeered, his cheeks tinting red as he looked around quickly for the source of the voice. The specific tones were oddly strangely familiar, funnily enough – Aurelia’s perhaps? He supposed, it would be like her to stoop low enough to make fun of him in the midst of a game. But there was no time to worry about that, now – where was Anastasia? Was she okay? And where was the damned Quaffle?

“Flippendo!”

His train of thought was utterly shattered as another voice flooded through the air, less familiar as the first but still just as distinct. It was a spell – the Knockback Jinx, if he knew anything. Certainly a painful one, if he remembered correctly, especially when emanating from the wand of a certain disturbing creature. But who was it aimed for? Was it a member of his team? God, he had to protect Anastasia, she couldn’t get hurt. There were shadows moving in the folds of his blindfold, people running past his field of vision – were any of them his lovely teammate? Could he save her from imaginary danger?

True intuition dictated his movements – he ran forward, jumping blindly in front of the closest figure to his being. Well, he supposed he’d look pretty stupid to anyone watching, proven he fail in locating his teammate. Was his intuition correct? Was he saving his friend from destruction?

As the game kicked off, Evelynn was immediately pleased with herself for having made the decision to observe instead of participate. There were many things that simply could not be noted when in the midst of it all. Subtle nuances in the ways in which others interacted could easily be missed. Which was unfortunate, really. Whether non-magical or wizarding, Evelynn was quickly coming to realize that the world revolved heavily around social influence. Status and perception played heavily into the way others saw an individual, the way they interacted with them. And as she was coming to accept, her mother had been right all along. Opportunities were driven only to a small degree by one's determination, but to a greater by social standing and connection.

So what had she already caught in her little web of notes? Well, for one, D'Spacito seemed to really be hitting it off with…whoever that was. Gryffindor, Evelynn knew, having seen her around the common room and at the Gryffindor table now and again. But she wasn't in her dorm, thus not a first year. It irked her, seeing him flash his smile, running fingers through his hair as though trying to be all smooth. He was a picture perfect image of a highschool jock. The fact that the girl seemed to be fawning over him as well only made it worse. He didn't deserve that sort of attention, didn't she know that? The red head simmered silently from the side-lines, watching their little interaction long enough to make a note of her annoyingly perfect appearance. Perhaps there would come a time where it would be prudent to be aware of their evident chemistry. Silver linings, Evelynn, she reminded herself.

There's wasn't the only connection the keen-eyed lioness had witnessed, however. Dralt and Alptraum seemed to be getting on well, the two pairing up together to head out from the center, the latter taking lead while the former watched her back. Curiously, they, too, seemed to have an easy chemistry. She'd never seen the two interact like that before, really. Not that Evelynn had really started paying such close attention to the interactions of others until recently. She'd been meaning to talk to the Ravenclaw about certain happenings around the school. If the ease with which they spoke was any indication, maybe that meant that the Gryffindor prefect was someone Evelynn should also be speaking with about it all…. Something to consider, perhaps?

Evelynn was just taking note of the way that Notrésvace and the oriental girl — whose name escaped her, but whose presence she could clearly recall at the Valentine's Tea Party — seemed to work in tandum, each spinning away from the other to target separate individuals as though in sync, when a voice sounded beside her.

"Oh, hello, Moussa," Evelynn replied, her tone somewhat surprised.

Perhaps more than a little surprised. For one, she hadn't been expecting anyone else to come to observe what would no doubt be a massacre by the game's end. Though, as she thought on it, perhaps she ought to have been more surprised that there weren't more students here observing. Given the level of recklessness and tendencies for violence she had seen displayed at this school, this — which could easily be depicted as a gladitorial ring — should have drawn a fair share of attention. Second, however, he had called her 'Ev'. Not Decipio (though really, hardly anyone seemed to make use of respectable forms of address at this school), nor even Evelynn. But 'Ev'. And finally…he carried with him a bucket of chicken wings.

"Did you really—" she was about to finish that question with a feel the need to bring that all the way here from the Great Hall…? but thought better of it. Instead, with a loft of a brow and subtle shake of her head, the corner of her mouth pulling into an amused smirk, she panned her gaze back to the game. "Not much, really. The game's just star—"

A flash of blue caught her attention.

The Gryffindor craned her neck around just in time to see a spell heading straight towards her, one that had clearly been cast wide of its mark. Without so much as a second thought, Evelynn moved, crossed legs pushing smoothly against the firm ground where she had been seated to spring her safely to the side as the spell sailed harmlessly past. Close call. Peeling her gaze from the spot where the spell had made impact with the ground, she searched for the source of the ill-aimed projectile. Tracing back the projectile, she spotted Vanes in what looked like the start of an isolated duel with Collins.

"Whotchit!" Evelynn called out, lips pursing with a touch of hesitation flecking her countenance as she reconsidered her desire to watch.

Given the fact that they were all still novices in their spellcraft, and clearly not all of them had aim enough to hit their targets, watching from the sidelines could prove just as dangerous as playing in their midst. This notion was only further supported when a second jet of blue came streaking towards her. On guard this time, Evelynn stepped back easily, the stream of light flitting harmlessly past.

"Maybe we should retreat a bit and find somewhere safer…" Evelynn suggested, dipping to retrieve her bag from the earthy floor.

This needed to work. For Thora, this wasn't just about winning the game. A rewarding jet of light shooting out of her wand wasn't just something that would help take others out while she hopefully survived. It was redemption. So, it was to her utter dismay that there was no flash, no satisfaction, no success. The aspen wand clutched in her hand, moved ever so carefully in hopes of eliminating a player, barely warmed.

Crestfallen, she glanced around at other people's attempts, face reddening as blindfolds were summoned and players fell all around her. She was surprised, though, as a cloth wrapped itself around her target's head. Hadn't she failed to even cast the spell? Upon following the spell to its source and realizing that it was none other than Emma, Thora shot the older girl a quick smile. Maybe she hadn't succeeded, but at least someone had.

Everyone seemed to still be doing alright and all still seemed similarly formidable threats. There still wasn't a particular someone that she felt obligated to take out, or anyone that proved an especial problem. And so, she was left with her indecisiveness. Several others were moving outwards, no doubt to attempt to obtain one of the balls still lying untouched, and since it now wasn't just a couple strays fleeing the central clump, Thora scanned them, trying to pinpoint someone to fire a spell at.

The dim last rays of light faded to darkness, leaving her only able to clearly recognize one figure. One blindfolded figure. And though she wasn't one who could be described as continuously ruthless, or someone who enjoyed picking on a specific person, this was no longer so much about wanting the Quidditch Captain out. She had no personal problem with him or had even a opinion about the Gryffindor--Merlin, she didn't even know him. It was more of her stubborn insistence on perfection. So, with a deep breath, Thora narrowed her eyes and raised her wand once more. "Flipendo." Same position, same stance, same target. Hopefully it would work better than last time.

writing on an accuracy crit fail. spell misses and hits thora instead Definitely, Alan had not interacted much with the Gryffindor third year. However, casting a tickling hex was far from a great way to start, unless he was intending for a less than positive relation. The incantation of the curse left his lips as he twirled his wand, perhaps too forcefully as the wand had almost slipped from his fingers, but the little fumble had caused the spell to go a completely different direction, completely missing the pretty Gryffindor and hurling at a Slytherin girl, Thora Larkston, the light depressing across her back. In a split second, the girl was in a fit of giggles.

"Flipendo." the incantation Anastasia would hear before the sight of her blindfolded teammate lurching in her direction. The impact of the spell against the Gryffindor hurt and sounded much like a hit from a bludger in a quidditch match and would hurl the boy a few feet backwards. She also began to feel her tongue loosen up and unknotting.

The snarl from the other third year Gryffindor was but a provocation, much like Erik's arrogance in the last game. Only when the girl's back was turned against her did she raise her wand against the Gryffindor with an incantation leaving her lips. A bright flash of blue light shot towards her target but a figure had jumped in its way before the spell could connect with the girl. Rafael took the brunt of the Slytherin's powerful spell exactly like how he did when he protected her from Erik's fist the last game. Good thing was that the Gryffindor quidditch captain was blindfolded, Astrea would not have to worry too much about ending up on the 'intimidating boy's disliked section of his encyclopedia's relationship tracker.

However, watching her back she was not and by the time she noticed the Ravenclaw's wand leveled at her, it was too late. The spell was accurate, hitting her right in her adsomen. A cold, tingling feeling growing rapidly as the spell took effect and an uncontrollable laughter forming in her throat. She was hit by none other than the torturous tickling curse.

"What did I miss?," Jorah asks as he manipulates a chicken wing. Now the secret to eating chicken wings is to rip out the smaller bone first. Once you do that, you can put the wing in your mouth and rip off all the meat in one easy motion. Jorah finishes his first wing with beauty and grace, licking his lips of the buffalo sauce. "Did you really...," Evelynn began, somewhat amused by Jorah's platter of food. "A man's motta meat", he mumbles around a wing as he sucks the meat off another bone. "Not much, really. The game's just star—," but Evelynn was interrupted by a ball of blue light flying in her direction. She jumps up from the ground and dodges the jinx with the dexterity of a nimble lioness. "Whotchit!", she cries at Alan. Finishing his third wing, "Alaaan!," Jorah shouts, waving hello with a freshly cleaned chicken bone. "Maybe we should retreat a bit and find somewhere safer…" Evelynn suggests. Jorah takes a swig of the pumpkin juice, letting out a refreshing "Aaahhh." Picking up another wing, he responds, "We'll be fine, what's the worst that could happen?" That's when Jorah saw her. The tomboy with the golden locks, Ru, his best friend, was pointing her wand right at him. Jorah reaches for his wand, watching as a brilliant blue energy shoots forth from Ruthie's wand and barrels straight toward him. A surge of adrenaline spikes inside the boy, time slows to a crawl, and Jorah’s mind races in a frenzy.

I imagine being attacked so much this feels more like a memory
Is this where she gets me, on the field, sev'ral feet ahead of me?
I see it coming, do I run or fire my wand or let it be?
There is no beat, no melody
Ru, my first friend, my enemy
Maybe the last face I ever see
If I throw away my shot, is this how you'll remember me?
What if this jinx hits my chicken wings?

Chicken wings, what are chicken wings?
A meat so fundamental, it tastes like everything.
I wrote some notes at the beginning of a song frog choir will sing for thee
Chicken wings, you great unfinished symphony, your smell sent for me!
You kept me fed, a meal so messy even careful eaters
Can leave with saucy fingerprints as they eat up!
I'm running out of time, I'm running, and my time's up
Wise up, eyes up
I catch a glimpse of the other side
A chef leads a food’s chorus on the other side
My lunch is on the other side
It's with my breakfast on the other side
Rich desserts are watching from the other side
Teach me how to say goodbye
Eat up, eat up, eat up, Pizza!

My love, take your time
I'll see you on the other side
Raise a glass to chicken

He aims his wand at the sky, wait!

Ruthie’s jinx smashes into the silver platter. For one last time, the wings take flight. They briefly soar through the air before raining down on a distraught and hungry Ravenclaw. Plop Plop Plop, the wings tumble onto the grass. Jorah falls to his knees and cries out to an unforgiving and indifferent universe, “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!” A moment of silence. Jorah stands up and faces Ruthie. In a calm but commanding voice he tells her, “My name is Jorah Moussa. You ruined my dinner. Prepare to be hugged.” He reaches out for Ruthie with his messy sauce covered hands and runs straight toward her.

The third year's thoughts had been pulled away from the reality, when he heard someone [Evelynn] shout something at him, "Whotchit!" and a boy who shouted his name right afterwards. The boy was in the audience and his call of greeting distracted the third year greatly as his head turned slightly to look over to the blanket right as he was about to fire his successful spell into the direction of Aurelia, when the sudden movement let him lose grip on the delicate cherry wood. In shock he watched as the silver light that shot from his wand, strayed from its course and hit another girl instead. He cringed slightly at the momentary mistake, but at least it hit someone. Technically Alan could not complain about this, since all of them would be his opponents momentarily. However he still disappointed himself by getting distracted in the middle of a incantation; the outcome could have easily been worse, if he had used a more dangerous spell.

He shook his head slightly. There was no time to think about that now, gripping the wand tighter to make sure he would not let go of it again, he randomly chose another target. It was a girl that he had seen before maybe, he probably did but his memory did not serve him well. Either way that also was not important right at the moment! Concentrate, he reprimanded himself, before raising his wand and drew a checkmark with a small swirl at the end, "Flipendo!", he heard himself say, speaking the incantation of the Knockback Jinx, which would be the key factor to winning this game, if he intended to stay in the first range. He could leave into another one and get a ball, but he was not sure if that would be worth the risk, especially since some of the other students already seemed like they had thought of that way sooner. Alan was not the best at strategic thinking, but maybe luck was on his side at last.
