Raising the shiny object up in the light, Scarlet realized that it was just a nail. Booo, was all Scarlet could think. She overheard that there was only one key left, so she had to keep searching. The last key would be the one to open the treasure, meaning that she only had one shot left.

Scarlet moved to a new section of the owlery. This one had some boxes that were old and faded. She decided to rummage through them, not just to look for the key, but also to see if there was anything she could get rid of. The boxes made the room look cluttered, and well, their main job today was to clean. She looked through the first box, just finding dust and old wrapping paper. Scarlet dumped the contents into her bag and continued to the next one. This box had some old letters and more owl droppings. Everywhere she searched seemed to be covered in them. She kept the letters; they could be important. However, she threw out the disgusting droppings.

Scarlet was almost ready to give up on finding the last key when she looked into the third, final box. She found some styrofoam peanuts in this one. When she began removing them, she touched something solid at the bottom. It was small, and when she started to lift it, she could see a glimmer coming off of it. Is this the key, she thought.

Time slowly passes as Cassie does some more cleaning. Everyone in the room is working hard. Their first every meeting seems to be quite a success, Cassie thinks as she notices that the owlery is much cleaner and neater now. The introduction of a game is successful too, the other members of the club excitedly looks for the keys. During the past several minutes, two more have found keys, though none of them managed to find the right key. Which means that there is only one key left. The most well-hidden key, but also the key to open the treasure box. Who will be able to find it? Cassie feels excited as she keeps cleaning, listening to whatever sounds others are making, hoping to hear a surprised gasp from the person who finds the key.

And indeed, someone spots it-- a Gryffindor girl, Natasha Blackwood. Cassie walks to her and examines what she is holding in her hand. It is the final key indeed. 'Congratulations to Natasha Blackwood!' Cassie says, not in a loud voice, but it is clear enough for everyone in the owlery to hear. 'I suppose this is the right key! Now try it in the keyhole.' Cassie smiles as she hands the girl the wooden box. In a few seconds she will open the treasure box and find a gold version of this activity's badge, as well as an unopened chocolate frog. The gift is not too fancy, but it represents the girl's hard work and luck this very afternoon. 'Congrats.' Cassie says softly to the girl.

I picked up the key, it was golden. Maybe it was the right one!
"I think I found it!" I yelled across the owlery. Cassie walked up to me and congratulated me. She handed me a wooden box to open.

I turned the key around in my hand. Setting the box down, I lined it up with the keyhole and inserted it. The box opened. Yes! It was the right one. I slowly opened the box. Inside I found a gold badge for this activity and a chocolate frog! I wonder what I got. Hopefully it's a good card.

I held the badge up to the light. The gift itself wasn't that much, but I felt proud of myself. It felt like I had achieved something by cleaning up the owlery. And well we had. The owlery was now very clean. And hopefully, people would look at it and go, wow, such nice people to have cleaned up the owlery.

I had honestly never thought I would get the key. My luck wasn't the best. But turns out I did get it. And it felt really good. I thanked Cassie and then she walked away. Quite a nice day it was today.

Time really flies. Soon after the key was found, Cassie checks the time and realizes that it is time to end their first club activity. Looking around the owlery, she can see how much change they had done to it. The messy place is now clean and tidy, the smell of owl droppings has become much lighter. Cassie sprays some rose perfume to give the place a soft, lovely scent. Looking down at the clean wooden floor, she feels proud of what she and her friends just did.

Seeing that most of the students have stopped working, Cassie announces in a cheerful voice. 'Time flies like an arrow!' she says, 'I do hope to work longer with you but I suppose it is time to wrap our first club activity up! Over the past two hours, we cleaned the owlery together. Look around and we shall see how much the owlery has changed.' Once again, she feels proud after seeing the owlery being so clean. 'We also played an interesting little game, I suppose no matter the result, we all enjoyed ourselves. I'd like to say thank you to everyone for your efforts this afternoon. Together, we made our school a little bit better!'

She takes the stack of badges from her bag. 'But before we leave the owlery, please come and take a badge specially designed for this activity. You can keep it with your volunteer house badge to store our memories!' When everyone has gotten their badge, Cassie concludes, 'that is all for today's activity, the detailed location for next month's activity will be sent to you via owl. See you next month!'

Denise felt extremely proud. Despite the... dead rats, mice, and well... owl droppings on the floor, which Denise never cleaned up after before, she felt incredibly proud and happy that she was able to do it and smiled in victory.

She remembered being ostracized and scared, after volunteering at a local hospital, to be kicked out because, well, her first instance of magic went horribly wrong. No one in Comrie believed that she didn't intentionally set the girl's clothes on fire, and since it was a Muggle community (and don't forget the girl was rich and a bit of a bully as well), she was seen as a problem child. But she enjoyed it, maybe this time, she will belong, and it's not like doing magic will expel her from Hogwarts.

-- To her surprise, Cassie offered badges for everyone's hard work. Denise took a badge, feeling it in her hands as she touched the badge's smooth surface and stared. She smiled in pride and happiness.

Finally, she cleaned up and left, but she certainly took a good shower. A very good one, with the strongest soap that she will be able to find, and washing her robes at least three times, she did not want to walk around smelling like dead animals and owl droppings anymore.

Scarlet puts down her rag and stands up. She takes a second to look at the corner she had been working on cleaning for the last hour. After emptying and throwing away some of the boxes, Scarlet had been focused on cleaning the dust and dirt from the floors and the walls. Now looking at it, she could see the original color of the flooring. It was no longer black but a shiny grey stone pattern. Scarlet was quite proud of the work she had completed. She then looked around and saw that the rest of the owlery shared this clean new look.

Scarlet watched as Cassie sprayed some sweet, rose perfume before getting everyone's attention. Cassie made an announcement, letting the other club members know that the event was over. Somehow, two hours had already passed, and it was time to leave. Before they could leave, though, Cassie handed out a badge to the present members. Scarlet held hers in her hand, happy to have a keepsake to remember this event.

After exiting the owlery, Scarlet headed back to her dorm, much more exhausted than she had expected to be. She proudly placed her new badge on her dresser and took off her volunteer badge as well. Scarlet was already excited for the next event and couldn't wait to add more badges to her collection.
