A blessed Eid Banquet

Ramadan is a special month for those who believe in Islam. However, it doesn't mean that non-Muslims are not welcome to experience and learn more about it. It is a month full of hope, happiness, and, most importantly, helping one another. Helping the poor is also an important part of this month.
As the month of Ramadan came to an end, the grand celebration of Eid began. A day full of joy, gifts and gatherings with friends and family. This year, Ilvermorny was also arranging a blessed Eid Banquet. All students and adults were invited to attend this event, share their achievements, and try new food.
The ballroom was decorated with lanterns and soft, glowing lights. The atmosphere was filled with happiness and peace. Tables were filled with different types of food, traditional in different parts of the world, along with a variety of drinks. Nasi impit, made of compressed cooked rice cut in the shape of cubes with a peanut dipping sauce; semai, made of pasta, milk, sugar, cardamom, and nuts, with a creamy and sweet taste; and biscuits with faint lemon flavor were just some of the exotic dishes introduced today. The only restriction was that anything containing pork was absent. The air was filled with the aroma of cardamom and nuts.
For drinks, there were tamarind drink, different juices and lemonades, with no alcohol served. The glasses were shaped like lanterns, adding to the beautiful holiday atmosphere.
Although the main purpose of the event was just to eat, drink, chat, and enjoy the moment, it was also an opportunity to exchange gifts and share good wishes with friends and staff. Eid Mubarak was a common greeting during the blessed Eid Banquet. Laughter and different stories shared by staff and students made the ballroom a lively place. Exchanging gifts was a way to express the gratitude and good wishes, especially for those who found it easier to express their feelings through actions rather than words.
Welcome to the blessed Eid Banquet! Today, students and adults are here to unite and enjoy the moment. Try new things, share your achievements, and be kind to each other! There's a tradition to gather with friends and family in this day. So let's use this opportunity to grow closer and happier. Eid Mubarak! A short speech was given by staff as a welcome, encouraging everyone to reflect on how much had happened during the month of Ramadan.
Kindness, forgiveness, and closeness are important not only during Ramadan but also in daily life. Hopefully, after this month, students and adults have learned something new and will carry it forever in their hearts.

A blessed Eid Banquet
Kaya didn't know much about Ramadan. But the school was full of different activities lately and this was attracting her. Perhaps, she could experience something completely new? She felt somewhat excited. It was also a good opportunity to spend time with her bestie. So much happened in just one year. She once again was left alone. The one she was hanging out a lot on balls and such, was now nowhere to be found. Just like the first one, this seemed to disappear suddenly. And that's when she was starting to care about him more. She sighed. At least she still has her bestie.
It was a last minute decision. But despite this, Kaya prepared a gift for Amber. It was nothing big. Just a knitted bracelet with a knitted dog, a handmade postcard, thanking Amber for being the best person in her life. And all this wrapped in a knitted gift box with a beautiful handwriting For my bestie. It wasn't much, but Kaya hoped it could be enough to show how special Amber was for her.
As she made her way to the ballroom, she couldn't stop admiring the lanterns and the way light was reflecting. Kaya thought it would be nice to have something like that in the room. But she wasn't certain she really needed it. So she continued going. Ballroom was carrying completely different and unique atmosphere. So unlike usual, it felt more peaceful and warm.
She didn't see Amber yet, so decided to look at food and drinks. Tamarind drink was something that quickly got her attention. Having never tried it before, Kaya thought that now was the perfect time to do it. So she took a glass and took a sip. The taste was something that she couldn't describe. It was different from anything she tried before. But it was tasty.

Devon skipped gracefully, moving between students in the ballroom. A smile graced her lips with each step. Her green eyes took in the students and staff enjoying the Eid Banquet. She wasn’t of the Muslim faith (personally, she’d refer to herself as more spiritual than anything else … but she also wasn’t one to judge others based on their faith), yet that wasn’t about to keep her away. Despite her beliefs, she always tried her best to be respectful. There was always just so much to be happy about! Why spend time trying to divide people?
The young Horned Serpent (er … now teenage Horned Serpent … as of today) glanced at a nearby cluster of lanterns and giggled softly. She loved lanterns … and was easily distracted by them! Yet, around so many fellow students, she couldn’t mentally stray for too long (at least to her best effort). Plus, there was something much more important than lanterns … food! And socializing opportunities!
With a bright smile, she skipped to a nearby table, focusing on the tamarind drink. It looked so different than anything she had possibly drunk before! What better time to enjoy it than on such a joyous occasion? And in a lantern cup, no less! Giggling again, she turned her attention to the plethora of food, already ready to delve into the delicious delicacies … and to learn, too! She enjoyed learning, after all!

Amber was amazed at how quickly the year had passed. This year however had been not quite as eventful as the previous year, which she was very glad of. Her adventures from the previous year still haunted her in her mind, monsters. But in her own mind, she wasn't too different.
This year had been the year of spiraling. She was overthinking, and overthinking, and overthinking some more. She couldn't even remember the last time she actually had had some fun. So how did Amber at a banquet you might be asking? One for a holiday that she did not even celebrate? She didn't know.
But she knew that Kaya was one hundred percent going to be there. She would never pass up on an opportunity for a new experience, a new adventure. And maybe Amber could use one too. Plus, she needed to spend more real quality time with Kaya outside of their dorm room.
This was the perfect place to do so. And food was plus as well. As she lingered in her dorm room she traced the picture she had drawn of Kaya and her when they were younger, happier and more free. She debated whether she should give it to her. She wasn't even sure the drawing was good, but decided that she could not show up empty handed.
Amber ripped the picture out of her notebook and scribbled a quick note. For my bestie. Thank you for everything. You'll never know how much our friendship means to meShe folded it neatly and slid it into her pocket and headed downstairs to the banquet.
The banquet was gorgeous. The lanterns covered the ballroom lighting it up beautifully, making the whole room bathe in warmth. She spotted Kaya in the corner and lightly tapped her on the shoulder with a smile. "Hey," she said.
She noticed Kaya drinking a drink, that she did not know the name of. "Ooh, what's that drink?" she asked. Amber picked up a biscuit and munched on it. The taste was unique and she savored the slight lemon flavor.
She pulled out her folded picture and handed it to Kaya. "Here, I made this for you," she said, with a smile, hoping she would like it.
While not meant for her when she was drawing it, she felt like it was a perfect gift, and she hoped Kaya would feel the same way. She hoped she felt the same way about their friendship as well. After all, their friendship was more important than anything else in the world. And it was what was keeping her sane right now.
