A Class Friend PV Marilyn Martinez Closed

Harper went to her next class, which was one of her favorites. She decided to look around and see if there was anyone she knew that she could sit with. She had made a few new friends during her time at Hogwarts so far and she would love to see if any of them were in the room. She scanned the room to see if there was anyone that she recognized because she had never taken the time to actually see who was in her class. As she scanned the class she didn't see anyone she wanted to sit with in particular. There were some faces she recognized though. Eventually, she decided to sit in a corner of the room by herself. There was an empty seat to her left that was open. She loved to meet new people and hoped that someone new would sit by her. It was one of the first days of class so she had yet to get to know everyone in her class. This class was a little bit of a challenge for her and she was hoping she would find a possible friend and maybe even a study buddy to help her get through this class.

Marilyn made her way into the classroom, book bag slung around her shoulder. They were to the point in the curriculum where they were actually learning things, not just going over the basics of the class or its rules, and Marilyn was enjoying it. It was a little spooky, purely because of the nature of the class she assumed, but it wasn't that bad.

She looked around the classroom, looking for where to sit now. There were a couple open spots by now, but one stuck out: a Hufflepuff sitting by herself in one of the corner seats. She didn't look like the type who didn't want people to sit next to her... maybe she was waiting for the right person to come to her. Marilyn smiled to herself; maybe she could be that person.

She walked over to the girl. She looked vaguely familiar, as being in the same house the two probably passed each other plenty of times in the Common Room. She stood by the seat, placing the bag on the desk in front of it and waving to the girl. "Hi! Hope you don't mind me sitting here, if the seat's taken I can move! My name's Marilyn, by the way. I want to introduce myself anyway, since we'll probably see each other around." She finished with a laugh, and waiting for an OK from the girl to sit.

Harper smiled as the girl approached her. Shee sat down alone in hopes to make a new friend. No, I don't mind at all. Please, sit." She said before taking a small pause to listen for this girl's name. "It's a pleasure to meet you Marilyn. My name is Harper. Harper Pena." She stated and reached her hand out for a shake. She didn't really know if people still did that but she grew up being told that was the proper way to introduce yourself and she was just old fashioned that way.

Harper looked at Marilyn and she too realized that she looked a little familiar but realized she had seen her a few times in the Hufflepuff common room so she figured Marilyn must be a Hufflepuff like her. "So Marilyn how are you liking your classes so far? Which is your favorite?" She asks to learn more about her new potential friend but to also pass the time while they waited for the teacher to arrive and for the class to start. Harper pushed up her bright red glasses as they had fallen down a little bit. It was a weird habit she had. Sometimes she would even try to push her glasses up when she didn't even have them on.

Upon the girl (who would introduce herself as Harper)'s OK, Marilyn made herself comfortable at the desk, taking out the supplies she figured she'd need for this class. Harper brought her hand out to shake, and Marilyn enthusiastically grabbed it for a hearty shake. "It's great to meet you!" She paused and added, "Well, officially meet you? Who knows how many times we've passed each other, being in the same house and all." She ended up a laugh, "At least now when we see each other we'll be able to say hi, yeah?"

Harper asked how Marilyn liked her classes, and she had to pause for a second. "Well, some of them are way harder than I expected. Or more boring. So far, Defence Against the Dark Arts hasn't been that bad. Not like History of Magic, at least. It's a total bore!" She laughed. "My favorite, though, has to be Herbology. I was looking forward to it going in, and even with its difficulty I still love it! What about you? What's your favorite?" She knew they only had a few moments to talk before class began, so she was instinctively beginning to talk faster. Hopefully they had long enough before the professor began to have a proper conversation!
