Ready to Learn
Madeline was rearing to go, and ready to learn all that she could about the history of Magic, and how Magic had affected the development of everything around her. As a wizard born she had a basic knowledge of Magical History, but not anything specific - or at least, not as specific as we would need for this class.
Throughout her childhood and schooling at home Madeline had taken some of the books from her home library - really just a couple bookshelves, but Madeline liked to imagine it was a great library in a grand Manor. Most of the textbooks that she would read were from when her parents attended school years before. Many of those books had already been second-hand, so some of them were very worn, and others were missing pages and chapters all together.
Nevertheless, Madeline had always had a voracious appetite for learning everything that she could about every subject possible - except magical creatures, for some reason magical creatures tended to make her nervous. As a child she would read what books she could find, and others that she would get from the Owl Post Magical Library. Even so, she was very nervous and excited about this new class - History of Magic. She had heard stories from her parents how the former Professor had been a ghost, and was very boring. Apparently he was so boring that many students would sleep in class and he would not even notice - or I wonder if it really was that he did't care more than didn't notice?
Anyways, with Professor June, Madeline was sure that this class was going to be very interesting. She kept an owl in class, and most importantly, she was not a ghost. Before leaving home for the Hogwarts Express Madeline had already read through her textbook at least twice - just the same as she did for all of her classes. She liked to ready, and even though many people think History of Magic is boring, Madeline knew the truth about learning. Any subject is only as interesting as the person learning about it wants it to be. If a student is set that they are going to hate a class, then they will likely hate it and think it was useless and a waste of time. If that student goes into the class with the mindset that Madeline has, that all learning is important and interesting, then even the most boring of classes and subjects will come alive with the real magic of knowledge - and of course, you know, actual magic.
Getting to the class, Madeline took her seat at the front of the classroom - not so close to the owl stand that she would be destructed by the owl, but close enough to the professor that nothing would take her attention away from the class and what she was going to learn that day. She took out her quill, ink, parchment, and textbook. She kept her wand in her robes, not sure if she was going to need it for this class, but one should always be prepared. Finally, the anticipation came to a head as Professor June entered the classroom, took her place on the raised platform at the front of the room, and began her first lesson on Early Magical Civilizations.
