This corridor wasn’t one most students had much reason to pass through. It was a little out of the way, just off a turn that didn’t lead anywhere important. The kind of place you only ended up if you missed a staircase or took a wrong turn. There were suits of armor spaced unevenly along one side, and stretches of bare wall on the other, broken only by an odd painting or narrow window that didn’t seem to show anything of use.
It looked normal. Quiet, maybe, but normal. However, it never seemed to stay quite the same.
Some days the corridor felt longer than it should have been, the walk stretching just enough that someone would notice if they were paying attention. Other times it felt shorter as if they got there way earlier than expected. There had been a portrait once, set between two of the armor stands, a witch with a thin face and sharp eyes who didn’t speak. Then it would be gone and there was nothing in its place but smooth stone. Then it would come back.
It was the sort of thing most people would ignore. The castle moved. Everyone knew that. Doors appeared, staircases changed, rooms didn’t stay where they should.
So it wasn’t worth thinking about. Unless they just kept noticing it.
Well a young Gryffindor had noticed it. Despite telling his friends and classmates this, no one else he had spoke to seemed to care or believe him. This only made him more determined to solve whatever he thought was going on. So when classes finished for the day, the brown haired boy made his way down to the hall. This day knowing he would see the door. As he stood at the corner, he knew this was his chance and it would not be missed.

Well, this was weird.
I passed through this corridor exactly three times today. The first time, I saw the door at the end of the corridor. Twice as tall as me, brown and old. Nothing different from any other door in the castle, I thought.
The second time I passed, it was gone. Not like, I passed and thought I didn't see it. It was actually gone.
The third time? Same. Gone. I started to think that weird, old, creepy door was part of my imagination. Maybe Hogwarts was finally driving me mad.
But now, when I passed by the corridor for the fourth time in the day to go to my tower, it was there again. I had to take some steps back, thinking the tiredness was finally making me hallucinate. But it was there again.
Now, I know Hogwarts was weird. I had read it in the books and saw it when doors appeared and disappeared out of nothing. But this time, it was different. This door, especifically, looked like it didn't belong in here. Like it shouldn't be here.
There was another boy staring at the door, too. A Gryffindor, I deduced from his red robes. I swallowed, looking at the door again.
"You see it, too, right?" I asked in a whisper, afraid that I was going insane.
Wes startled at the voice and turned to her. The boy, tall for his age, took only a quick moment to regain his composure. He had not seen her before, or maybe he had. Are we in the same year?” he thought before looking back to the door. Then Wes stepped closer to it, examining it. It did not look special at all. Just a door, which made it more mysterious to him.
“Many, many times,” he said with a determined look on his face, “The bloody thing will be here one minute and gone the next. Then there will be some portrait with a crazy witch, maybe a tapestry in its place and…” The boy stopped his tangent because he realized he was rambling on and on.
Wes then turned back to the girl and smiled at her. It was wide and he laughed fairly loudly. “I’m just happy that it’s real and someone else is here so there is proof.” He then scrunched his nose a bit at her and spoke with a sarcastic, joking tone, “Unless you aren’t real. Then I’d be going mad. You are real, aren’t you?” The way the lanky Gryffindor said it showed he was joking, but there was a hint him having considered the possibly that she was not real.

I tilted my head.
"Well, last I checked, yes. But I've been told that I'm not." Shrugging, I gave another look to the door.
It looked almost like it was calling us to open it. Like it whispered our names in a language that no one could hear.
I got closer to the door and I stocked my ear to it, in silence, waiting to hear something. Anything.
But there, only was pure, creepy silence.
I swallowed. Hard.
"Should we... Open it?" I whispered, turning to look at the Gryffindor boy.
He seemed the same year as me, though he was a bit taller. But he didn't seem scared. In fact, his face almost seemed decided, like he knew the door would be here, and he knew what to do once he saw it. No wonder why he got sorted into that house, in the first place.
Well, my mom hadn't raised a coward. I could be a lot of things, but a coward, hard to believe as it is, was not in the list. I wasn't that scared, but what if he said it wasn't the right time to open the door? What if he knew what was in the other side? After all, he was here before me. He seemed to know this door better than me.

The question made him turn his head from the door to the Ravenclaw girl. Wes tilted his head at her, while he slowly reached for the door’s latch. “Definitely.” His answer to her question of opening the door was short and simple.”
“Something has to be back there right? It isn’t just a broom closet or a random storage room.” The boy’s hand was just about to make contact with the latch, but he stopped. His hazel eyes widened a bit, and he spoke with excitement but with a hushed tone as he told her, “I found a hot cocoa room around Christmas. It was incredible.” Part of him was surprised he told her, he had not shared that with many, but the girl was the only other person who had seemed to care about this door.
Then his hand quickly snatched the latch and he pulled the door open. There was no sound coming from, just quiet. Wes looked disappointed at this, it was just dark and only by the light in this hallway could they see what looked to be another corridor.
“So… you want to go with me?” There was a little smirk on his face as he said the next part, “You’re not going to make me go myself right?” Even though the question could seem accusatory, the boy said it with a joking tone.

Code by Fawkes Chaos I swallowed when he opened the door, and a shiver went down my spine as the cold air came from the dark hallway inside.

I was no coward. But I wasn't stupid, either. I knew I was about to step into dangerous grounds. But I also knew this was a mystery. And I loved mysteries.
And if I was known for something in my life, was for how stubborn I could be once I had something into my mind.
I nodded at him and, with a deep breath, I stepped into the hallway.
I felt the cold inmediately. It seemed dark and so, so long.
I glanced behind me and saw the boy. Good. I was not alone.
But when I narrowed my eyes towards the end of the hallway, I noticed something...
A distant light. Soft, remote, but there. And the only reason there could be a light at the end of a creepy hallway could be...
"A door!" I pointed. "There's a door in there!"
And, without waiting for an answer or a reaction from him, I walked towards it.
Reckless, some may say. I prefered the term bold.
Besides, I knew Hogwarts was filled with mysteries. And I was just about to discover one of them. This was, literally, one chance in a lifetime. My chance.
