Vladimir Athanatos. Vladimir Athanatos, Vladimir Athanatos... She repeated the name in her head a few times. She didn't know that name, she was sure of it.

When he said no, she was confused. No, what? But then he explained things. Interesting things. Opeila was too tempted to ask, but there were too many people in here. If there was one thing that was sure, then that something between Victor, Marion and Vladimir went wrong. Vladimir had stopped playing his part but instead led the house to his two friends.
Victor said yes, when Opeila asked him if Vladimir could hear things as well. She tried not to get too excited. Maybe Vladimir was a scared student like the other two, who had no idea...

Victor now told her that Vladimir was a Ravenclaw third year. That made the group very small compared to the beginning. Still, she didn't know many third year Ravenclaws, she had only ever talked to one and he had helped her carrying her books back to the common room. He- she frowned for a second. There was one weird thing about this guy.
She had introduced herself to him, she was sure of that and he had never given her his name. Instead he had asked her things about her opinion about her house. A distraction maybe? Well, it had worked then.
Was it possible, that she had already met Vladimir Athanatos?
She tried to remember her conversation with that guy.
I have a few friends in the Slytherin House, great people. Always felt like a third wheel for being in a different house. It fit.
Yes, it was possible.

"Victor. I have met one third year from Ravenclaw before and I think that might be him." She gave him a brief description of the boy, who had no name yet. "Sounds familiar?"

When she said to Victor that they might need Vladimir to solve things, he said that he was an ass. Opeila sent him a short smile. She felt sorry for Victor. And Marion.
"He might be an ass who knows something.", she said.

No one responded. It seemed they were already in the middle of something and didn't feel the need to even acknowlegde her. Before she would raise her voice or step closer, Jack aimed his wand at one of the other slytherin students: Dan, in particular. Someone she once dueled with. He was a rather firey one. She knew that much. Just like how the spiders had hurt her, she wouldn't forget how Dan didn't immediately help her out. It kinda... bothered her that they didn't take notice of her. Her eyes narrowed as she watched Jack try to cast the spell, but missed. That... was pretty reckless.. Nico didn't know Jack well but she didn't have any bad experiences with him yet, while she did have a unforgettable one with Dan. Nico had only briefly talked with the fox-eyed slytherin right before the spiders had been let in...

Finally, she decided to approach them. 'Alright. First things first.' She made sure her voice would be loud enough for everyone in the Bathrooms to hear her. It would be hard to pretend that they didn't notice her. 'Wands in pockets. This room is small. One wrong move and there could be serious injuries..' Nico first looked at Jack before back at Dan. 'Got it?...' The Prefect hadn't gotten an explanation which was hard. It was her job to keep things in order and peace. Over hearing Opeila talking to one individual the Prefect didn't know, she heard the name Victor. Was that him? The boy she hadn't seen at the Slytherin Tour to the Dungeons? Pretty sure she heard Santario say the same thing. That she didn't recognise the boy.

If Opeila would continue to talk uninterupted, Nico would lose her patience. 'Miss Seilun. I'd much prefer it if you didn't ignore a Prefect.' Her eyes were ice cold. The spider event had made her tired and... well... cold. Her soft smile was rare these days just as her patience was.

If Opeila didn't ignore her, Nico would sigh relieved. Finally. Noticed. 'I'd prefer if you didn't ignore a Prefect next time. Don't think I didn't notice that.' She'd throw a mild but cold glare at the Slytherin girl before turning to the boy this was all about. 'I assume you're Victor Moore? Could someone summarise for me what is going on in here? I suppose you all came here because of the note at the Common Room Door, correct?' The Prefect would move to stand in the middle of everything. She'd glance over to Jack and Dan, making sure they didn't have their wands at the ready anymore. If they did, they would for sure get detention. Nico first needed to get an idea of what was going on before jumping to conclusions.

Little did @Opeila Seilun know, she was very much to blame for the attack. Almost as much as Victor and Marion. Vladimir, the perfect gentleman willing to submit himself to hard labor and carry some clumsy first year's books to the common room. Did she let him in? He was interested in getting in. Did he charm her with his good looks and affable personality? Maybe a little. Of course somebody stopped posting so the details are left unanswered. It did not matter of course if he entered or not, it only made things easier if he had.

Was Vladimir behind the attack?

Well, perhaps. He was certainly a part of the puzzle.
  • Five foot eight.
  • 14 years old.
  • Year three, Ravenclaw.
  • Caucasian with tanned skin.
  • Medium, athletic build.
  • His eyes were a grey blue.
  • He had perfect, white teeth.
  • His hands were unusually well-groomed for a boy.
"Yeah, that's him," Victor grumbled. "He also has this shit-eating grin," he added for some additional specificity. he shrugged. "Have at him with your violence and touching," he sounded a bit defeated but in truth it was more than defeat. He was troubled and heart-broken. He owed the guy his life. He would have done anything for the guy had he been asked. Had he been in the Owlry where Marion was with the threats, he would not have sold out his friend for this betrayal. The guy deserved a brief ass-kicking, not potential death.

"But seriously, I dunno a dang thing about the spiders, I don't want to hurt anyone. I am not some psychopath." That was his defense -- I am not evil or crazy

Opeila could only just stop herself from rolling her eyes and sighing annoyed when she was scolded from not reacting to the prefect. Didn't the girl have eyes? Couldn't she see that Opeila was getting information and was not exactly in the mood to explain the whole story to the prefect right now? No good timing for story time.

"Sorry, not gonna happen again." And then the prefect just took over the conversation. Opeila clenched her hands to fist in anger. Who did that girl think she was? Scolding Opeila for being impolite and then not being any better at all? How extremely arrogant.

When Nico asked Victor some questions as well, she just begged that he wouldn't explain Vladimir's part in this. He was important and Opeila couldn't imagine anything worse than having half of the house knocking at his door later. Especially not this absolutely unsympathetic prefect.

When Victor also mentioned the grin, Opeila was sure. She had met Vladimir before, and she would definitely look for him again now.
"I believe you about the spiders, Victor.", she said. What she was almost sure of, was that Vladimir played an bigger part in the attack.
She now turned to Nico again. "Yes there was a note, but it seems like Victor is not to blame here.", she said short, not willing to explain anymore.

A prefect. Oh how delightful. Yet someone else to get involved. Dan didn't notice her at first, because he was entirely distracted by Jack. This misguided little twit who thought he could go one on one with him.

When he cast his spell, he simply sidestepped, not taking his eyes off of him. He was about to retaliate and blast his ginger ass out the door, when he remembered that a prefect was here. Nico Shymane, of all people. So he scowled and put his wand away.

Dan winced slightly. After he had come back from trying to get Victor back down, and saw the chaos that the common room was in after like, 12 seconds? Maximum? He had to choose whether or not to help the most terrified, or put out the fire so they wouldn't burn to death. He had chosen the latter, and saw Nico. He wanted to help, but for two things:
One, Dan wasn't very good at comforting people. Not that he didn't want to, he just never seemed to know what words to say, and was scared of making things worse.
Two, He had also been bitten at the last minute, and Erik looked as though he was about to die. He'd been swarmed by the little shites, so he helped as much as he could with him, before it got so bad that he could barely haul himself to the Hospital Wing.

His ADHD caused him to wonder for probably the 8th time that week if he could have his Dad nail Elena for attempted murder on the entire house by forcing the door open. He doubted it, but maybe he'd ask anyway.

In any case, as prefects tend to do, Nico forcefully made herself known, and decided that was going to take full control over everything. Then had the gall to bitch Opeila out about being rude, then carrying on in the same way, and even going so far as to use veiled threats to him, Jack, AND Opeila, as if she were someone big and important.

Dan's regret over not helping Nico in the common room was rapidly disappearing.

He was tempted to just hex the skinny little dhampir right then and there, and deal with the detention later.

"A'course ye don't have any idea what's goin' on, ye just barged in here like yer so big and started barkin' orders like a professor, and makin' threats like ye own the place. We've neither the time ner patience to go over the whole thing a bloody second time. So here's the rub."
He pointed at Victor.
This little shaggin' langer's been hidin' out in the castle to keep from bein' found. Note said where he was, we found 'im. Says he innocent. Then this redhaired gobshite defends the little weasel.

Then of course, Victor started blabbering again. Apparently someone named Vladimir Athanatos was involved, and betrayed him. Due to that, Victor seemed eager enough to sell him out right back. Dan remembered, from his studies of things he liked, that Thanatos was the Greek God of death. So, Vlad probably had his name changed. That, or he was just really unlucky.

True enough to what Opeila said, it was seeming less and less likely that Victor was completely behind this. This didn't absolve Victor, not yet. For all they knew, Vlad could be trying to cut off a loose end.
But then, if he was doing that, why not just kill Victor so he couldn't sell him out? If Vlad was the one behind this, he certainly had no qualms about killing people, so what would one more be?

What's more, Victor had a look that Dan knew about. Betrayal. He had actually trusted whoever Vlad was.
Dan's face softened slightly.

"Anythin' else ye can tell us? Where to find Vlad? Ye can only benefit from tellin' us lad. If he was the one behind the attack, and not ye, at worst ye'd be an accessory to the attempted murder. If ye try to hide 'im from us, ye'll be an accomplice instead."

Though Jack's spell missed, the first-year couldn't help a small, weary smirk upon seeing Dan side-step. It seemed like such a shame that Nico had showed up as a prefect at the very last second...but at the same time, it could have been a blessing in disguise. Upon hearing Nico's order to return wands to pockets, he immediately complied.

Winking weakly at the nod of appreciation from Victor, Jack's grip against the supporting sink slackened and he slumped to the grimy, cracked bathroom floor. He thought he could still remain upright to a degree by propping his back against the wall, but upon attempting to do so, he recalled why that was something he had avoided trying to do much of in the first place.

Gritting his teeth, he closed his eyes and slumped forward, his red hair falling across his face and concealing his expression as he tried to make more sense of the words being exchanged between Victor and the others. There was something about Vladimir Athanatos, the boy who had been selling those funny candies and cards in the courtyard at the start of February. That was intriguing. Too bad his brain was having trouble focusing on the facts being spread out before them.

They were reiterating about the note for Nico...and then Victor confirmed Opeila's description of the Ravenclaw third-year before bringing up the spiders again to say he knew nothing of them.

Opeila claimed she believed him then. Dan started speaking shortly after and while Jack wasn't liking his tone when he spoke to Nico, at least the second year seemed to have gained a bit more sympathy - or was that empathy? - for Victor. Dan was asking how they might have been able to find Vlad...but also warning against Victor trying to hide him from them.

Behind his closed eyelids, Jack rolled his eyes. After all the information Victor had given them on Vlad, why would he bother trying to hide him from them? Especially since he had evidently felt betrayed by the other boy? Well...in any case, Jack doubted Victor would have any more real trouble, especially with Nico around. Dan might have been behaving a little hostile towards her, but Jack decided to trust the fact that Nico had probably been made a prefect for a reason.

Pained and fatigued, the red-headed boy felt his consciousness fading. Maybe he could just stay there for a bit longer and rest right where he was on the floor. Maybe take a little nap. He wasn't in anyone's way anymore and they were free to go about their business without him.

Students often thought that being a Prefect was easy. It had its pros and its cons. In desperate times, people would seek for the peers since they were the closest link to the Professors. They could be trusted and depended on... However, whenever things weren't desperate, Prefects could easily be seen as sharks patrolling the halls. Unwanted. Annoying. Bossy... Nico knew of this and yet still felt like she'd be up for the job. No matter what the other students thought, she did this in their best interest.

Dan however... He was pushing her buttons. A great mistake. If the spiders hadn't happened, the dhampir would probably have apologised and explained why she was so upfront. It made her feel ucomfortable. Being the way she was right now. But there was no way out for her thusfar. Nico could understand that Opeila was annoyed. Whatever was going on in here... It was probably bigger than all of them together... Atleast the First Year Slytherin appologised. It was better than nothing.

The dhampir didn't let the toxic tone of Dan slide. Just like most of them, she wasn't in the best of moods and they, definitely Dan, had better take note of that. A red dot appeared in her ice blue eyes, a piercing red. Turning to face Dan, Nico set a few steps forward. 'Dan. You better watch that tongue of yours or I'll have Professor Jensen know of it. And I'm sure she'll be alot less mild than I'll ever be. If you doubt how I got this job, you can go complain on her doorstep. Am I making myself clear, Mr. Palmer?' She wasn't the warm, scared little redhead anymore. Not right now atleast. She wouldn't let people who even sounded close to the way bullies speak, walk over her. Not without consequences. She wasn't here to be bossy, but to be aware of things. To know things. To prevent the spiders from happening again in the best way she could.

There was a certain guilt that lingered around the young dhampir as she remembered the moment where she laid curled up on the floor - wailing for her mother. Like a weak baby. She failed her peers at that moment. Nico wouldn't fail them now.

When Jack didn't question her demands, she felt abit warm. The red dots in her eyes, fading back to blue. Atleast to someone here she didn't look like an absolute dictator. He slumped down on the floor. Not in a desperate way, but in a... tired way. He seemed fine. She would check on him after this got sorted out. Nico sighed relieved and scratched her elbow that randomly started to itch a little. 'Vlad?' She missed out on who they meant since Dan couldn't help but try to make her feel bad about herself. 'If this student is the real culprit, then please tell us everything you know of him. I'm sorry... The sooner you tell us, the quicker we can let you off the hook. If you truly are a victim of this students actions, then... Then we can actually help you.' The dhampir wasn't sure if she was helping but she wasn't going to stand by and be quiet, doing nothing. She had a job to do.

They were looking for some more information. Details on how to find them. On leveling the blame. I shook my head. "He is an ass, obviously," I grumbled the last bit. "But... you guys are seeing monsters in the mirrors, assassins in the shadows," my voice was still shaking. "B-but we're not dark wizards, I'm fourteen," my hands over my chest. "I am still learning how to mix the befuddlement draught without messing up. I can't conjure demon spiders and he can't either." I didn't think at the very least. The thought entered my mind briefly but I immediately disregard it.

I let out a sigh. As much as I wanted the sweet sense of revenge that comes with the mob mentality, I could not feed into it. "Everyone swings or shoots first, asks questions later. It makes you all scary," I glanced down at Jack again. "But it also makes you miss things," I nodded toward Jack, my 'savior.' "I am cold and you guys have the strength of ogres, but he is crumbling over there." I had no idea what was wrong with him, the pre-teen that entered with a limp and seemed exhausted with minimal exertion. It wasn't normal. "Not trying to hurt nobody still," my palms towards them. "I am just trying to avoid everyone's ire, I have never been much of a fighter," as they could easily see. "If I did not think I would be in for a daily ass-kicking I would be gladly back in the dorms."

"I was there the first time before the spider attack," he told Percival. "Victor woke up because he heard banging on the door and thought someone had been locked out. A couple of other guys and I tried to stop him from opening the door and when I tried to move him away from it, he flew back even though I hardly used any force. He was also ice cold. But...maybe he doesn't seem to recall that or he didn't notice it." ended Jack. The information he just gave him was something new, yet confusing at the same time. What kind of thing would force a person at that speed, as well as force their body temperature to become ice cold. Whatever it was, the thing wasn't natural by any means. Percival slowly moved away from Victor and looked at the floor, thinking deeply as his hands slipped into his pockets. However, whie deep into though Victor had some more information to express.

"Don't know anything about spiders attacking. Never did," I reiterated. "But I sometimes hear stuff, weird stuff. Then the world just goes to shit, but I never really know that it is that weird stuff until... after the fact," explained Victor, forcing Percy to turn his head slightly to hear closely to what he had to say "First time it happened... we wandered into the woods. Someone was calling Mary's name, at least that is what she heard. I heard... a scream for help. Wasn't the same, we both came. I ran, she took her time. Didn't know there were Whomping Willows in the woods," Added on the boy, revealing more of his story by the minute. All this sounded like a build up, as if a bigger incident compared to the rest was going to happen. Victor also mentioned someone dying in the same woods, a practice that was carried out by a laughing madman to be exact. And then, the common room attack. With all the strange things happening it wouldn't surprise him if they were connected.

Percy turned back to the group and was about to say something, but was suddenly cut off by a voice and a raise of a wand "Immobulus." Jack said quickly as he fired a spell at Dan, who managed to step to the side and avoid it all together. Percy slowly shook his head and look at Jack, unimpressed by his action "Was there any need for that?" he said before sighing and walking behind Victor once more, keeping an eye on him as the two starting bickering amongst themselves. The boy stared ahead of him and continued to pick apart any information from Victors words, only listening to parts which were relevant needed for the situation at hand. None the less, a name did catch his full attention "Vladimir Athanatos" the name didn't a bell, considering he was supposed to be a third year, but maybe someone would know more and even spill the beans on his location.

The boy folded his arms behind Victor, his eyes now and then peeling around the room to keep note of everyone else "I am cold and you guys have the strength of ogres, but he is crumbling over there." said Victor. Percy hated to say it but he was right. Jack had been acting strange ever since he entered with that limp, which clearly didn't act normal from him. His head snapped to the sick third year, looking him up and down before deciding what to say "Victors right, what on earth is going on with you?" he questioned over to him "You're clearly not in a shape to be here in the first place and for whatever reason you fired a spell at another student. I know Dan is quite on edge right now, but he wasn't by any means going to attack him at that very moment"

Nico seemed willing to allow Jack to rest his eyes a bit once his wand was put away, choosing to focus on asking Victor more about about Vladimir. Victor, however, seemed to think he had just about said everything worth saying on the Ravenclaw third-year, assuring them all that despite Vlad's obvious personality flaws, he was pretty confident Vlad couldn't conjure 'demon spiders' any more than Victor could, which was not at all.

Then, to Jack's surprise and dismay, Victor - perhaps in an attempt to help the first-year, change the subject, or otherwise redirect attention away from himself - pointed out to the others once more the sorry state that the red-headed boy appeared to be in. From the way Victor continued to speak, Jack assumed his third-year housemate only meant well, but Jack could have done with being ignored for the rest of the day. It seemed like that wasn't going to happen, though, once Percival turned his inquiries on the slumped-over Slytherin. So much for that nap.

"I'm tired," he answered his dorm mate blandly, not bothering to open his eyes, much less raise his head. Absently, Jack pulled his robes tighter around him. "Didn't get much sleep last night. But when I saw that note, I wanted to make sure Victor stayed safe from the undeserved wrath of certain impulsive hotheads." Refraining from naming anyone in particular, he figured the others could guess well enough who he might have been referring to.

"Palmer is too unpredictable," Jack refuted Percival's claim of Dan. "You have no way of knowing what he was or wasn't going to do. His previous words implied he wasn't about to let Victor off scott-free just for telling us what we wanted to know.

"And you weren't exactly confidence-instilling yourself when you said you were sure no one wanted Palmer to 'break him in two before we got some sort of information'. Sounded an awful lot like you didn't care what happened to him afterward."

Merlin, he was tired. Why couldn't they just let him sleep?

"I was just...trying to take precautions...until I could trust he was in safer hands." Namely, Nico's, but he assumed they would gather as much.
