This wasn't Reid's usual route, sometimes he went off on his own to see what other parts of the castle was like. But something had caught his eye on the way to the Grounds, it was a book lying in a shadowed corner of the Courtyard. He had picked it up and had began reading it on the way to the outdoors area, having no concern for what he was about to read. If anything, it made him pretty curious and the owner of the journal went over his head.

Perhaps he just missed it, he was prone to careless reading a lot of the times. His finger glazed over its contents, turning each page over rather curiously as he tried to understand what this was exactly for. Sure it seemed like a monster compendium, but was this all it was for? He thought it was pretty well done and interesting to look through it. He sat down on a log and fixed his tie as the book was placed on his leg. He had some questions about who might own this, but he also wasn't sure of who to turn it in to.

There wasn't exactly a reason to turn it in either, it wasn't bad and he didn't see any plots of killing anyone. It was just peculiar, it looked like it wasn't written by a scholar, so he didn't think it to be a library book - it was clearly a journal. He had his speculations, but ultimately he did want to return the book to whoever owned it.

But he had questions and he wanted answers, there were names there that made him question the intent of the book and he wasn't sure if what he saw was even supposed to be seen at all. "Interesting." he mumbled. Reid closed the journal and tried to keep his curiosity at bay, worried he glossed over an important detail.

Barefeet padded hastily across Hogwart's grounds, the soles of the Gryffindor's feet were already smudged black in the dirt of Hogwarts grounds. The hem of the thin white dress was barely brushing the floor at her frantic steps. This dress, only her roommates would have possibly seen her wearing due to the dress only being worn in the vicinity of the occamy perch minutes before she crawled into the four-poster bed for her slumber.

The first hour of the curfew was the time that prefects prowled around the halls, Having been a prefect during her second year, she was well aware of this fact. Yet here she was, wandering around the halls in much desperation to find the journal. If she caught, it better be only after she found the book, if she didn't, it would mean that her search and the risk she took would be nothing more than in vain.

It was only a few moments ago that the fourteen-year-old was in the common room. She had realised that her journal was not in the place it usually was, hidden under the loose floorboard beneath her bed was nothing but a few clumps of dust. And without hesitation -- or shoes for that matter -- Aurelia left her dormitory and advanced towards the last place she had last seen her journal. The grounds, in isolation from other students and their prying eyes, was one of the usual spots where she worked on her journal.

It did not take long for the brunette to find it. Her eyes set upon the leather-back book she was all too familiar with, the only problem was that it rested on a person's lap. Aurelia was far too frantic and desperate to register the one in possession of the book. Her eyes, locked on the book, never at all glancing an angle to view the identity of the person holding the book. The white-dressed girl charged, with the intention to tackle whoever it was and obtain what was rightfully hers. So she did so without much thought. And if she actually did take a few second to think through her actions, she would have realised that it was foolish to tackle a superior quidditch player whose name had made it onto the front page of the Hogwarts Headliner and not to mention, a prefect.

The thought of monsters filled his head, a little more fantastical and exaggerated at best. He lived in a fantastic world, a wizarding world. That meant almost anything could happen, meaning there was always going to be danger. He looked up from the book, his mind was dizzy with the concept of all these monsters he was being exposed to. But he was sent crashing into the ground when a flash of white barely missed him and the first thing he thought of was 'monster'.

Fight or flight kicked in and in this case, it was fight and fight. Rampant with fear of being eaten or maimed, the student opted to throw a punch at the attacker, holding the book like a baby against his chest. Though his calculations were way off when he missed and took this chance to gain distance. He wasn't going to make this mistake again like with what he did with Erin.

Reid's fist threateningly raised itself to the air, his green eyes sharp with a ferocity that locked onto his attacker. But the moonlight told him the truth of it all, it was no monster, it was a student. She seemed familiar, he had been at this school for a while, it was hard not to run into familiar faces every now and then. The tightly knit brows came apart and relaxed at this realization, but his breathing remained heavy.

Slowly, he lowered his fist and released his hand from the white knuckled grip he had it in. "... Why did you try to tackle me?" His frown returned, a remnant of the glare he tried to dissuade the 'monster' from. "And why are you out at night?" It was dangerous to be out and he considered giving her a detention knowing that she was out here. It's been a while since he gave one out, he hated giving them out but he got more comfortable initiating it.

Roll failed: Reid misses his punch

The journal, it was in the hands of someone that was not her own. That fact itself was enough to send the novice monster hunter into a state of distress. Her legs carried her fast yet gracefully across the grass that was a tad bit chilly given that the Gryffindor had not a pair of shoes on. Her target was not the boy but the book itself. However, in the midst of darkness, Aurelia had (quite embarrassingly)
missed the figure by a few mere inches, almost stumbling from inertia as she stopped abruptly.

Dodging came so naturally although she had barely seen the fist coming her way, thanks to the years of ballet and monster hunter training, the brunette took a side step, the punch missing her, only grazing the air. Now that the figure was in front of her and she had came to the realisation that she had just been thrown a punch at, her eyes narrowed in much scepticism and fixated on the boy's ascended fist and then to his eyes.

Kovacs. Hufflepuff prefect. She was definitely in trouble now. Though it would not be her first time she had gotten in trouble. After all, she spent more than 2 years in school. It would only be worth the consequence if the book was back in her possession.

Outstretching her palm faced up towards the Hufflepuff prefect she claimed,"My journal. I was looking for it." It was more of a demand than an explanation, her words taking on an assertive tone and her blue-grey eyes glaring. Now the only question was whether the boy decided to return it to her. Despite her stony facade, the thought of the boy having look through the book caused her much doubt that he would hand it over.

The demand went over his head. That was evident when he raised the book from her reach, tilting his head with a growing suspicion against her. No, he wasn't going to give it up without some bit of answers from the owner of the book. He had to admit though, he didn't expect her to be the one to own the book. Actually, he sort of expected a professor to have owned this - perhaps that itself was a form of flattery.

"I'll give it up, if you answer my questions." He wore a rogue-like smile, unbecoming of him in times where his wants triumphed his moral compass. Reid wanted to know what it was for, it captured him and fascinated him for the briefest period of his time out here. That was clear when he mistook her for a monster herself, ready to attack her without a moment's warning.

"What's this book for exactly?" A part of him wondered if he was in the dark, were there monsters out here? Sure he knew of the existence of giants and the other things, but were they actually here? Quinn was one, so were a few others, but he saw some good in all of that. His body was turned to the side for her, clearly on guard since she was willing to openly attack him in the beginning.

He only assumed the worst since the worst tended to happen in situations of conflict for him. Hopefully she would only see him as a curious soul, that was really all he was. He didn't plan on becoming a hunter or even squandering her efforts, this was the only exciting thing he's learned of all month.

Unfortunately, as she expected would be the likely scenario, the boy refused to comply. Instead, to her chagrin, the book was raised over his head and out of her reach. Her blue-gray eyes narrowed incredulously before settling into a glare that bore into the boy's emerald ones. Standing at an average height of 5'4, Aurelia was aware that any effort to obtain the book would only result in a futile one given that not only was the Hufflepuff slightly taller, but he was also a quidditch player. The beater likely had a firm grip on the journal whom Aurelia stood no chance against if she attempted to snatch the book from his grasp.

No, Reid was not going to get what he wanted, prefect or not. Aurelia would be lying if she said his smile was not at all attractive. As one who kept up with gossip and rumours as one fo the things to past her time besides monster hunting, she could see why those girls fancied him. But the lovely creature had her own tricks to get what she wanted and deal with stubborn souls like Reid. Well, it had more or less some effect on the few boys, the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain, being one of them, who knew if it would work on Reid. Sure, he was older than the hormonal Gryffindor first year and perhaps, she hoped, more mature, but it would not hurt to try.

In a matter of seconds, her eyes soften significantly her cold glare flickering into an alluring gaze, her lower lip protruding into a pout. A lovely facade used to her advantage as Astrehilde, her grandmother and Monster Hunting superior had taught her to. Agreed, she was no Veela and did not possess the charm those creatures did, but one as genetically blessed in visage could do without. "It is my research on creatures for defence against the dark arts class. You should be knowledgeable of what we have been learning for the syllabus," The lie tumbled effortlessly from her rosy lips in a pitched whine, one in close resemblance to a child's plea for candy. However, one who had pried into its content would know what she claimed the journal was for was far from the truth. Aurelia herself knew that a fellow third-year would never be so gullible and would call her word bluff. The only thing her lie would do was to buy herself time.
