All of Professor Lécuyer's actions match their actions in the set first lecture so I hope it was ok to mention them!
Dido sat down in her chair, excited for her very first Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson. She had loved Herbology and Potions, the former including re-potting mandrakes and the latter even teaching her how to make three potions! Of course, she had expected to excel in those lessons and, in truth, excel she had, being the first on her class to finish making the forgetfulness potion and very quickly catching on to the re-potting rhythm in Herbology. So now, as she sat, waiting for the teacher to begin, she smiled to herself, pre-emptively celebrating the ease at which she would cast her first spell.
Professor Lécuyer introduced himself and, as he did, Dido sat straight up in her chair, quickly memorising how to write his name as he chalked it up on the board. The majority of the lesson was wonderful, Professor Lécuyer spoke about Dark Magic before demonstrating the spells we would learn: the red spark spell and the green spark spell. Dido’s heart beat faster. This will be amazing, she thought to herself, feeling the excitement pool up inside her.
So, when, at the very end of the lesson, the professor instructed the class to practise the two spells, Dido was one of the first out of her seat, alongside a Gryffindor girl who had been answering questions almost as much as Dido had. Dido pulled out her wand and began to focus on her intention, remembering the emphasis that had to be placed on the correct concentration when casting spells. She narrowed her eyes and slashed her wand in front of her while saying “Verdimillios!” loudly and confidently.
Nothing happened.
Dido tried again, slightly less loudly but firmer, moving her wand in a quicker but shorter slash.
A tiny weak crackle of beige/green light burst from her wand before dissipating as quickly as it had arrived.
She tried again. Nothing.
Dido attempted the red sparks spell. A vaguely reddish flicker almost taunted her from the air.
Suddenly, next to her, a beautiful shower of red sparks appeared, as bright and powerful as fire-crackers.
Dido looked up, towards the glittering crimson sparks and saw that same Gryffindor girl smiling up at her wand. She clenched her jaw. It’s on.

Sparks (of anger) Fly
This was my first class of the day. I was inhumanely nervous, even though i had read up on the first few lectures of each of my subjects to prepare myself for the worst. Ever since entering the magical world as a girl with no magical background, i realized i would have to put in twice as much effort to be equal with my peers.
I entered the classroom and took a seat next to a girl with short brunette hair. Just as i laid my bag down Professor Lécuyer walked in and introduced himself. He gave a small smile to all of us, and started the lesson. I recognized certain key terms, and concepts from my late night reading which also helped me answer quite a lot of questions. The slytherin girl next to me also answered quite a few. It was almost like we were competing for the house points Professor Lécuyer was awarding us for each correct answer.
Professor Lécuyer started lecturing on the spells we were going to learn while demonstrating it. As it is with every spell, i would need to put my full concentration to the spell. My enunciation will also have to be clean and clear. As Professor Lécuyer finished the lecture, he encourage us to stand up and give the spell a try.
the slytherin girl beside me didn't need to be told twice, she eagerly got up and started trying out the spell. Professor Lécuyer started walking and helpung students along the way. I got up, took a deep breath and focused on the incantation.
I slashed my wand while enunciating, "Vermilious!"
An enchanting shower of red sparks appeared. Bright, and powerful. I found myself grinning from ear to ear at my success. As i was relishing my accomplishment, i felt the same slytherin girl staring me down. Her face almost challenging me.
I smiled as i raised my chin up. Be my guest.

Dido screamed. Well, that’s a little bit of an overstatement. Dido… seethed. But not too much. No, even despite her shock at her newfound incompetence, Dido was still too worried about what others thought to even let a squeak exit her mouth. Maybe a sharp exhalation forced its way through but Dido was determined that nothing else would show her anger.
At the very least, Dido started thinking that way. But, after fifteen torturous minutes of practising where Dido’s sparks only improved to those of the Catherine Wheels for “young ears” and the Gryffindor’s, in comparison, as full blown rockets, Dido was unconsciously adding barely audible “Argh!” to each of her increasingly forceful slashes in the air.
To put it simply, Dido was furious and, instead of directing that anger at herself, it was being sent more and more in the direction of the Gryffindor girl.
Every light flick and slash of the girl’s wand seemed entirely directed at Dido, aiming to torment her with their blinding red and green light.
To both Dido’s relief and irritation, the lesson was eventually ended and she, grudgingly, began to pack up her things. As she did so, without even meaning to, she turned to the Gryffindor and opened her mouth to say… What was she going to say? She wasn’t quite sure really. So, to avoid looking like a goldfish any longer, Dido closed her mouth and nodded sharply at the girl before staring down at her bag as Dido packed away her textbook.
