James took the small golden bird in his hands, looking with wonder in between it and the girl, who had just learned was named Auri.
“Ok. Thanks, Auri.” James finished, this time not stuttering. “Are you experienced with caring for animals?” James asked, observing the almost flawlessness of the round bird laying in his hands. All the ash and smoky residue had been washed away, and the bird didn’t look ruffled or scraggy. It looked smooth and it’s golden feathers were almost shiny.
“Or… at least, do you know what this is?” James asked, indicating to the petite creature. James had never seen anything like it before, and he only knew the name from all the people around him who had gazed at the rescued animal and repeated the name multiple times, under the breaths and out loud.
“A Golden Snidget?” he asked. James thought he had heard something like that before… something his parents had told him before he came to be exposed to this whole new magical world. He thought it had something to do with… Quidditch?
“Oh! Like a Golden Snitch!?” he exclaimed after the memory finally clicked. “Is this a Golden Snitch?” James asked, slightly doubtful.

Aurianna Aspen looked at James in front of her.
James was also looking at her, and for an instance both of them looked away, but James bit his lip and started talking without stuttering. James quietly said, “Ok. Thanks, Auri,” as he gently held the Snidget and sighed with a heavy heart, hoping the Snidget would mend soon.
James asked Auri a question, he said, “Are you experienced with caring for animals?”
After asking Aurianna this question, James observed the almost flawlessness of the clean, Golden Snidget.
Aurianna was about to answer this question when he countinued to speak, “Or… at least, do you know what this is?”
“A Golden Snidget?” he continued to ask. A realization clicked and James suddenly exclaimed, “Oh! Like a Golden Snitch!?” “Is this a Golden Snitch?” James had asked, slightly doubtful.
"Ummm..., to start, I will answer the first question."
Breathing heavily Aurianna said, "Me and my mother worked with our pets and farm animals. We moved from place to place and I eventually learned to use my skills to help and care for the animals."
Tears filled her eyes, and taking a deep breath and steadying herself from Tears filled her eyes, and taking a deep breath and steadying herself from humiliation, she choked out, "This is a ----."
Aurianna was "saved by the bell", so to speak, because a strangled cry interrupted her tears.
The Golden Snidget, had suddenly sat up to listen to the sound of Aurianna's voice, and James was totally and utterly mesmerized by the broken bird.
Heavily sighing, Aurianna said with absolut confidence, "This is a Golden Snidget, like a Golden Snitch. This bird it typically used in Quiditch and for some reason, it's on campus."
Pondering what she just said, Auri realized that the next Quidditch game was coming up, and it seems like foul play was afoot.
A fact from a book Aurianna had read played through her mind. "....Golden Snidget's were illegal to use during a Quidditch match, and were substituted with Golden Snitches.
A warehouse not far from the Quiditch Pitch held exotic and rare birds, maybe the Golden Snidget was released to ruin the next match.
A gasp erupted from Aurianna as she excalimed, "Someone hurt the Golden Snitch, so that the next Quidditch game would be postponed, or CANCELED!!!"
"Maybe they are still horseplaying, or we could ask a student who was just there."
"We need to get to the Quiditch Pitch. We need to get there NOW!!!!!!"

Dear fellow Hogwarts members, I am extremely sorry. I had gotten my facts wrong! But I have fixed it! Sorry.....

James had thought he was in a peaceful, non-fiery situation, but apparently, he couldn’t expect anything so nice to survive that long.
James found himself almost blown back by the sudden panic of Auri.
"Someone hurt the Golden Snitch, so that the next Quidditch game would be postponed, or CANCELED!!! Maybe they are still horseplaying, or we could ask a student who was just there. We need to get to the Quidditch Pitch. We need to get there NOW!!!!!!”
James barely had any time to register what she was saying. For a few moments, he just sat there, looking bewildered… which he was. But after a few second, he understood what she was telling him.
“Oh, wow. Okay, but I thought Golden Snidgets weren’t used for Quidditch anymore?” James said, standing up with Auri. “Weren’t they illegal to play with after they became extinct?”
Suddenly, James realized what he had just said. Then came the question that even he didn’t know how to answer. How did he know all of that stuff!?
Maybe his parents had told him something about it… or maybe he had briefly read something about it… probably, he thought. Maybe. Hopefully that was right… James honestly didn’t know.

All of Aurianna's shouting had apparently scared James because he looked at Auri with a bewildered expression.
Dumbfounded and with a blank mind, James said, “Oh, wow. Okay, but I thought Golden Snidgets weren’t used for Quidditch anymore?” James said, standing up with Auri. “Weren’t they illegal to play with after they became extinct?”
"Yes, but that's not what I mean..."
"I think that someone could have stolen the Snitch, and released the Golden Snidget so we couldn't have used either for our Quidditch match!"
A silence lasted for at least 5 minutes as everyone pondered this possibility.
A sigh escaped Aurianna lips, and she said, "I honestly don't know, but something has happened and the Snidget has been released."
"Either way, I still think we should go and check the Quidditch Pitch.
"
Aurianna stared at the faces around her, many of them had left, but the names who she remembered were James and Jenna.
Her eyes pleaded with all of the strangers, hoping and willing them to give in to her ideas and fantasies.
Jenna looked unsure and hopeful, so she might be in on the plan, but James had a different posture and style of thinking.
He was standing up next to me with an expression of confusion, but (Auri was willing to bet) that there was also longing for the Quidditch Snidget to get better. And to make sure it didn't happen to other animals, the mystery HAD to be solved!
Until the culprit who harmed the rare, Golden Snidget was found and stopped, nothing was 'ok' and a deviously mysterious and monstrous person was trying to ruin the next Quidditch game!
***Aurianna was sure that something was wrong and until there was actual proof that everything was alright, nothing was going to change her mind.***

Seeing Aurianna made Jenna happy- knowing that one of her best friends was around still. But her happiness was drained when she saw James and Auri sitting together talking. Something in her mind told her she was being ridiculous, but her heart screamed a different story. Jenna tried to push her emotions away and focus on what was going on, but she felt the dizziness in her head again; like the time she passed out in the ballroom. Jenna didn't understand it... until now. Jenna had a secret, that she kept from even herself!
This can NOT be happening! Not now, not EVER!
Jenna eventually pushed away the thought (for now), and actually listened to what was going on between Auri and James.

She heard Auri mention that the Snidget might have been some counterfeit item intertwined with Quidditch, but Jenna didn't exactly think so. Then again, she could be wrong-she usually was.
Jenna wanted to contribute as much as she could on the matter, but couldn't exactly figure out how she would. Everything was beyond her thoughts, and she felt partially useless.

Jenna thought about what she could do to help for a long while, but ended up just staying silent after realizing James and Auri were still talking.

James was feeling rather uncomfortable. He was on Auri's side, but also not at the same time. He knew something was wrong, and they needed to do something, but he honestly didn't think it anything to do with Quidditch. Although, if it was, that would make a good story for the Hufflepost, he thought.
UGH! What was he thinking!? How could he think like that when all of what was going on was going on!? James mentally scolded himself for a little bit, while watching the expressions on the other's faces. Really, the only people he saw left hanging about were Auri and Jenna. There might have still been others around, but he couldn't see them. Plus, he had to admit to himself that it was getting a little chaotic with so many people. Not that it was anyone's fault, he just... he didn't really know.
But then, an idea came to James.
"Wait, what if this doesn't have to do with Quidditch? What if, that fire happened to destroy this bird's home, or maybe it was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, and we are super lucky to have found it!" James paused for a moment, realizing that it might disappoint Auri or someone else.
"But, uh, we can still check to see if Quidditch is actually a problem..."

Aurianna Apsen daydreamed within her swirling thoughts. Her, Jenna, and James all carried a giant trophy towards the Trophy room, congradulated by the Headmaster for their triumphs. Cawing softly and gliding beside them was the healthy Golden Snidget, following the three Hufflepuffs, was the culprits who hurt the bird. The crutial harmers of the bird were in shame, as they hung their heads and listened to our victory speech.
James continued to speak as Aurianna continued to fantasize the future of the Snidget.
Auri could see it living in the magnificent wild trees, sourrounded by it's flock of birds...---
Her daydreams were intrupted as she listened to what James had said.
Thinking about how Aurianna was to phrase herself, she noticed that James and Jenna were still in a crazed state of mind, from her earlier shouting about the bird and how it could have gotten hurt.
"Why do I get so overworked about absolutely nothing?!!!"Aurrianna then chastised herself for her sudden outburt previously...
Taking a deep breath, Aurianna said, "Ok, ok, ok, ok, ok..."
"We don't have to go to the Quidditch field..."
Aurrianna's reasoning behind this was the fact that she didn't want to fix the Snidget quickly and leave it in a satifactory state.
Aurianna decided that the Snidget should get better until it was perfectly ready to be free, plus it would give her reason enough to examine it's qualities and understsand why the Snitch was replacing this awe inspiring bird of fantasy.
Slowly revolving her eyes toward Jenna, Aurianna asked, "Jenna can I please have the Snidget?"
Jenna passed the Snidget to Aurianna as she took the essence of the flightless beauty. Auri looked up at James and Jenna's faces, Aurianna recognised the expressions as 'slightly' suprised becuase Auri dropped the subject at the Quidditch field so easily.
Looking at the floor, Aurianna began to clarify herself, "I-I mean w-we don't have to go and check the Quidditch field right away,...but if we decide to turn the bird into the authorities, here at Hogwarts, then we would have to explain how the Snidget got hurt in the first place.
Y-You know, the fire,... and that would bring the fault back to, J-Jenna."

Aurianna was worried that she might have hurt Jenna's feelings by placing the blame of the fire on her, but Jenna's face showed no regignition of hurt on her face, so maybe it was going to be 'ok'.
Brushing Aurianna's arm over some, James picked up the golden Snidget, also refusing eye contact with Jenna.
Jenna seemed on the verge of tears as she tried to stop the flow, so Auri decided to be a real friend and keep James from looking at her.
Aurianna tried to fix her accusation, by helping James stay distracted and let Jenna know that it wasn't truly her fault. The Snidget was just in 'the wrong place, at the wrong time'.
"Maybe we can keep it in the Hufflepuff dorm, or hide it somewhere in a secret room..., Y-you know, to keep an eye on it."
"I don't know what we should do, but, I do know that this bird will take a while to get better and it should stay an absolute secret that we have it. I don't even think the Hufflepost should know that we have seen it."
"What do you think?"

If the Snidget was to have been found on Hogwarts campus and all of the students knew about it, a hunt would begin and the poor bird will be sought out and used for pocket money.
Aurrianna looked up and saw that James, and Jenna were thinking the same thing Auri was.
Hufflepuffs have a secret dorm mate!

Hey, Aurianna? Try to be more careful about God-modding, okay? I haven't said anything until now, but you've been doing it for a little while, so I'm just pointing it out to you, and letting you know.

James was nervous about this. He knew exactly what Auri was thinking, and he didn't want to say no to her again, so he supposed that the Hufflepuffs have a secret dorm mate.
He honestly wasn't too excited about this. If anything, he might have felt disappointed. He looked over his shoulder at the smoldering section of the forest. Most of the smoke had cleared now, but James had this feeling that was pulling him towards the forest. He couldn't get rid of the feeling that if he was going to help this Golden Snidget, then he would need to do so as quick as possible, and the way was in there.
But, on the other hand, Auri was probably right about the Snidget needing to get better. After all, she knew more about animals than he did.
James looked away from the forest at Auri, then at Jenna. Jenna had set the fire, James had found the bird, and Auri had cared for it. In James' mind, the three of them were the only ones who really had any sort of responsibility for this bird. He wasn't going to say it, but this seemed like the spark to an adventure.
"Alright." James finally said. "Jenna? What do you think?"

//I'm sorry about the god modding
Where do you want us to end up???//

Aurianna glanced at both of her Hogwarts companions wondering what they were thinking about.
Jenna was quiet and hopeful, but fortunately her tears earlier were silenced.
James looked a little bit indecisive and a possibly dissapointed,? but he came to a decision and it was... (not to decide).
James stared up at Jenna and said, "Alright."
"Jenna? What do you think?"

The mending Golden Snidget lightly stirred it's wing, all the while, chirping softly as if awaited her answer as well.
The light around the trees started to bend as the wind carefully drifted past the forest. Talking from the inside of the Hogwarts castle was muffled from behind the stone walls, as laughter bounced out the open windows.
Aurianna and James both looked up at Jenna and awaited her response.
Crickets and frogs sang in the distance as the sun started to set. Dinner was going to be served soon and a decision still needed to be made...
The silence was wanning on Jenna as she thought over everything that might help us, and what would help the beautiful golden Snidget.

//Maybe we could divide and conquer? Someone go to the library and research Snidgets. Others can go to the Kitchens and sneak food, and/or supplies (spell books, maybe???) for the bird.

Jenna, who was sitting in silence for a while, listened carefully to the conversation between Auri and James. She was uneasy, not knowing what she should agree with in the matter. Eventually she replied to James's address to her.

"I think that we should keep the Snidget a secret, of course, but I also think we should hide it somewhere a little safer than our dorm room... It could get found by one of our dorm mates." Jenna tried to find words that wouldn't hurt anyone's feelings by shooting down their ideas.
"But I have no clue where it would be hidden otherwise..."

She looked down to the Golden Snidget, who had been chirping softly. Jenna gave a half-smile to it and she could have sworn it smiled back.

"Actually, on second thought, maybe we should keep the cute little thing with us." Jenna laughed, and the majestic bird flew to sit up on her shoulder. It chirped happily.
