@Avis MarlongCuriously, Avis didn't pull away at Sabrina's next attempt at touch, the question of why lingering inside the smaller girl's mind for the next few steps. After Avis's in comparison laughably short answer, a somewhat comfortable silence settled over the duo. Not that Sabrina had nothing to say - she always did, and would surely argue her point in most other scenarios, but in the quiet corridors where every little sound echoed for a few incriminating seconds, there just wasn't enough space for convincing. Slipping out of her shoes out of habit (and lightly smacking Avis's arm with them if she dared to comment or make a face at it) the small raven continued to repeat said fact to herself, even as she came up with more and more arguments as to why she'd be the best flying tutor under her sun.
Somewhere along the way, Sabrina would change her juxtaposition, silently putting herself into the position of a navigator, now always a step ahead of her friend, leading the way. Shoes back on and hood swung over her head - mostly for the aesthetic - she stalked around the castle's outer walls, trusting the other girl'd follow. Even after the period when her eyes should've adjusted, Sabrina still found it difficult to map the space out, the crescand of moonshine plastered onto the dark canvas looming over them more symbolic than functional. In fact, if she didn't know it was around, she'd never spot the bristle of their missing broom sticking out of the grass. Skipping over to it, her fingers traced it's lenght, only wraping around it once she was sure it suffered no damage, "I was ready to find it splintered," she admitted while handing it to her companion, "So? Wanna take it for a ride or do we share mine instead?"

As the girls slipped down the hallways of the first floor, Avis hitched her satchel up onto her hip so she could dig through it with one hand, pulling out her cloak of warming or warmth or whatever the thing was called. Wrapping the cloak around her shoulders, she pulled out a hoodie next and offered it to Sabrina, before clapping the satchel and letting it fall back to rest against her thigh.
It was still May, sure, but the cold seemed to hover, a soft screw you to the students of Hogwarts, who were all waiting for the sping wind to finally blow through and open the grounds with some nice warmth.
Avis allowed Sabrina to cross in front of her, allow the girl to pretend she was leading Avis even though both girls clearly knew where they were going.
As they crossed the grounds, Avis fell a few paces behind Sabrina, her footsteps crunching few strands the still head grass that had managed to stay upright throughout the winter. Looking up at the stars, Avis could almost pretend she was at home, lying in the backyard with Maria and her sister.
But Maria wasnt here. Sabrina was.
She accepted the broom gently, almost as if apologizing to the thing. Brooms were like horses - they tended to have a bit of a temperment and they could kill you.
"I've a better idea", She grinned at Sabrina. "What is flying, really? Jst moving through the air." With a challenging tilt of her head, Avis jumped two feet forward, holding her broom above her head like a javelin. Turning to face Sabrina, she stood up straight like a Olympic gymnastics and gave a mock bow. "Flying."

@Avis MarlongSabrina loved sneaking around, or as she dubbed it, entering 'stealth mode'. It was something she adored even before her time at the magical boarding school. No matter the occassion, be it playing hide and seek with her cousins, going on a hunt for a sweet treat or prowling around school, she rarely missed a chance to really get into it. Once at Hogwarts, her love for the craft only amplified, especially after meeting the girl beside her, who was now - handing her a hoodie? A bit confused and taken out of her 'stealth mode' headspace, Sabrina shook her head and gestured to her own clothing, commenting on the matter only once they were outside, fairly safe from patrols. Fingers tracing over the rim of her drawn up hood, she cracked her companion a smile.
"What? Want me to double-hood? I mean, it sounds kind of epic - I can't deny the cool, vigilante vibes I would emit - but the heat would kill me," even though it was a little silly, the small gesture helped to put the smaller girl more at ease, her steps a little lighter as she continued to walk.
Handing over the second broom, Sabrina raised her brows in question as Avis, yet again, planned to take the initiative. "I mean, yeah but-" Sabrina retorted quickly before the other girl's antics left her momentarily speechless for the second time that night. This time though, she was quicker to recover, hand claspig over her mouth as she fought to muffle a chuckle. "Oh, holy Rowena - I applaud you, that- that is really creative, however," wiping an invisible tear from under her eye, Sabrina swiftly mounted her own broom, "no matter how lame you make it sound, whatever you just did definitely wasn't flying." Slowly, Sabrina circled around her friend before stoping at her side, "stop hopping around like a chicken and hop on so we can fly" she mused, prolonging the 'y' in 'fly' whilst stretching her arms out in a slowmo immitation of a plane, "fly like the eagles we are" she added jokingly. Fingers wrapped around the broom's handle, Sabrina scooted a little forward to make space for Avis. She wasn't giving up on this, that much was clear.
"I promise I won't crash."

"What? Want me to double-hood? I mean, it sounds kind of epic - I can't deny the cool, vigilante vibes I would emit - but the heat would kill me,"
Avis rolled her head."really. What vigilante have you ever seen that wears two hoods? But maybe, She grinned conspiratorously, "that was the plan ask along. If you die from heat stroke i don't have to fly. Who's a vigilante now?" She pulled her hood over her head and did a little pose.
She frowned a bit as Sabrina laughed at her idea. That was completely unfair, it had been a completely good idea in everyday and in Avis' opinion, almost certainly counted as flying. But, she supposed, Sabrina had a bit more experience that her and therefore a bit more authority.
"I promise I won't crash." Avis heaved a sigh. "i cannot promise the same. " Slipping over to the building, she prepped up her broom against the stone wall, in a corner as to protect it from the wind. It was a bit hypocritical, protecting it from the wind when only moments ago Avis had chucked it out a window, but her priorities were different now.
Smashing as slowly as she possibly could toward Sabrina- stealing for time- Avis fidgeted with the clap on her satchel, finally removing it and placing it in the grass. With a frown, she pulled herself onto the broom behind Sabrina and latched onto the girl, closing her eyes.

@Avis Marlong'Still me you morally gray kill-my-partner-at-first-inconvenience-vigilante-wannabe,' she retorted. It wasn't clear if the sharpeness her words carried came from slight irritation or growing concentration.
There was a hint of acceptance, or perhaps resignation, in Avis' next words, prompting a sliver of hope to rise within Sabrina. Soon enough it grew and found it's footing with her friend's slow yet certain approach. Remembering it has loyalties to physics, the broom dipped slightly as the weight it would carry doubled. Expecting such thing, Sabrina barely spared a thought to it, preoccupied with internal celebrations.
'Yes! You've made the right choice, my friend. No one has ever regretted flying with the Lyons airlines, trust me,' she threw promises around with confidence, omitting to mention she's never shared a broom with another soul before, 'Ladies and gents, please fasten your seat belts and prepare for take off,' she recited what she presumed would be said by a stewardess at such an ocassion. Not that she had experience to derive from.
The 'take off' took form in a barely registable tilt upwards, bringing them up just enough that their feet dangled but not a hair further.
Fringes of her braids brushed against Sabrina's shoulders, a quiet reminder of the fight she'll have to put up detangling them later on. But that's something for future Brie to tackle. The one in present had other battles to win, namely the ones that requiered little physical strenght. Afterall, hovering a sturdy stick at a slower than a snail pace was of no hardship to the semi-skilled raven.
'So, how do you find the wind up high? Refreshing, isn't it,' came her faux attempt at small talk, head swiveling just so the other girl wouldn't have trouble hearing her.wc. 291

Avis grip tightened around Sabrina as the wood bent toward her weight in the most IM NOT GRIPPING TIGHTER way she could possibly imagine. She hooked her fingers around each other with a death grip that left her fingers pale...not that they were any tanner to begin with. It was May, okay, she had just spent like forever in a castle. She was tempted to also wrap her legs around, like a really awkward piggy-back ride, but at that point if Sabrina were to fall it would become quite the challenge to ditch the girl and protect herself.
All in all, if Avis fell off, Sabrina would undoubtedly come off with her.
As the broom took off, Avis quickly abandoned her 'not gripping tighter' strategy in favor of a new 'leech' strategy, paying zero attention to the joke Sabrina was trying to make, instead storing it somewhere in the back of her head to go over back on safe ground. She tried her hardest to not cut off Sabrina's circulation...oh who was she kidding her priority was staying on the freaking broom, which seemed to STILL be bending. In Avis experience, things that bended - tables, pianos, trees - tended to break. It was almost as if brooms were...trees. And they were bending.
Avis glanced towards the ground, her gaze roaming for the softest possible ground to land on. The good news was, the grounds were variously scattered with giant spotted mud puddles. The bad news was, looking down reminded Avis of just how high she actually was. Very high. "I think I'm an ostrich, not a raven..." She shrieked, digging her head into her arm and shutting her eyes.
'So, how do you find the wind up high? Refreshing, isn't it,' Avis choked out a snort. "refreshing. Sure. Just like some ice cold vinegar.

@Avis MarlongAfter a few meters of practically hovering in place with how slow their movement was, Sabrina mistook Avis' attempt at a loose seeming grasp for a sign of her getting used to their suspended state. Bored with the staleness of their flight and unable to recognize just how frightened the girl behind her was, the raven tilted their vehicle upwards. It didn't stay completely straight under them; bending when directed in other directions, adjusting to the states the girl in the lead put it into – something which barely registered to said witch. To her the movement was normal, good. Afterall, the broom needed to be supple, otherwise it could snap.
'Mm maybe. What is an ostrich if not an overgrown chicken anyway,' she replied, not to be mean, just to distract her friend and give her something else to focus on. And maybe to tease a little, too. Who could blame a girl for indulging just a smidge? They were at about a second-floor level of high when one of Sabrina's hands left the wooden shaft, reaching up to nudge off her hood and then settle over her friend's fear-whittened fingers. Not pulling or clasping, just there to signal for her to loosen her deathgrip.
'Aaa–okay okay I get it, I get it. You can stop crushing my ribs now' she said back over her shoulder, slowly lowering them back down. Glancing back at how her companion sat, she settled on a height where their feet wouldn't quite touch the ground but could brush the taller standing remnants of grass.
'You can open your eyes now,' she informed. Usually she'd let her feet dangle, but with Avis behind her – unsteady and unpredictable – she didn't dare to test their balance any more than necessary, her soles staying firmly pressed against the broom. Instead she reached for the castle's wall, fingers idly running over the cold stone barely an arm's length away
'Is it the speed or height?' she asked after a moment, apparently unable or unwilling to keep quiet for prolonged periods of time, 'what scares you, I mean.'

"What? No, absolutely not they are completely different spe-" Avis broke of as a very high scary puff of wind scattered her hair into her eyes. How, exactly, was she meant to complete a diving roll when the broom snapped if she had hair in her eyes???? And yet it was more important that she hold on to Sabrina, so the stupid hair would have to wait. What if she just...chopped it later? Would that make flying easier?
No. Focus, Avis. Focus on not falling.
'You can open your eyes now,' A snort escaped out of Avis before she could stop it. "Um, I don't feel my feet on solid ground so yeah no." She did, however, loosen her grip, more out of respect for Sabrina than any lack of fear. After feeling no movement for several moments, she took it a step further and brushed her hair out of her face.
'Is it the speed or height?' Tilting her head a bit, Avis thought for a moment. "Um...I'm going to go with lack of seatbelt...lack of safety measures."
With her eyes still tightly pinched, she tried to dip her toe downwards, barely brushing up against the slightest hint of grass blades brushing over her feet. Now would have been a great time to wear the excessively high sandals that added approximately 2 inches to the height of everyone that wore them.
