The stars..are beautiful
Laurie climbed up the staircase, lagging due to the heavy weight of the bag slung over her shoulder. Finally. She could go to the place she loved the most after a day of stares and whispers. The one place she was allowed to feel alive after being a cold ghost who was only there to be pointed and laughed at. Honestly, it was hard to remember when it wasn’t like this. When Laurie used to be the centre of attention, with a lot of people who cared about her. But of course, it shouldn’t matter. After her uncle’s stroke, Laurie taught herself, Emotions are for the weak. And Laurie wasn’t weak in the slightest. What none of the adults used to notice then, was that despite behaving maturely, Laurie was still an 11 year old girl. But no, the moment she mentioned that she was ‘not feeling well’ or that ‘she wasn’t okay emotionally’, she was overreacting. Maybe they were right. She used to stay in her room for hours on end, wondering what the students at Hogwarts must be doing, if her so called friends still remembered her.ReducioInteracting with: Open to Anyone!

Probably not, judging by the new ‘Social Distancing Protocol’ they developed with her. Laurie finally snapped out of her train of thought, seeing that she had reached the top of the Astronomy tower. She sat down, leaning against the wall and observed the stars. They were absolutely stunning. To be honest they were beautiful everyday, but today just felt different. It even made Laurie’s cold heart soften a little. She remembered when she used to go with her parents at night. Well…that was before that day. A tear slipped past her cheek, reminding her of the things she would never get. She wiped it away, scolding herself internally. She then took out a diary from her bag, the one in which she wrote songs. Music was the only thing that kept her sane back then. It was her way of expressing herself without sounding too needy. No one really cared about her music, and that was the way Laurie liked it. She started writing a new verse, smiling faintly while doing so. Oh, how she wished that there was somebody who she could actually talk to. Somebody. Anybody.

I, being me, got lost again even though I would refuse to admit that I had to anyone as I was a quote on quote big boy now, and getting lost was for little kids. Yeah ok I had gotten lost and then sat in the room of requirement for a good long while, but there were far too many stairs in hogwarts to not get lost while trying to find where you were going especially if you were coming all the way up from the bottom of the castle early in the morning only half awake.
Well where did I get myself today?
I'd wander as I climbed the last few steps into what I'd soon learn was the school's astronomy tower. I'd look at the place in awe and then catch the stary scene in front of me and I could all but gasp out
"Woa!"
in a soft voice.I'd rush further into the room to do my best to get a better look at the place and the stars but I'd trip over my own two feet and fall on my face. The fall would make my glasses skitter away from me and I'd make a disgruntled noise
"Ugh owh huh"
I could see without my glasses just fine even if my astigmatism made the stars look well more like stars.

Laurie was almost done with the last chorus. It was a shame really, the song was really catchy and could have gotten a major audience if it was released. That goes for all of Laurie’s works. Most of them are about her, her life, the way even she had a few emotions, even though she hated to admit it. Well, she had been the one crying a minute back. Laurie chastised herself, knowing that if she had done it in front of anyone else, she would be “overreacting.” Her cold demeanour was growing stronger day by day, why should she ruin the streak? Pathetic. That’s what she was.
She shifted her gaze back to the stars, trying to find the constellations in them, like she once did with her aunt and uncle, when everything was alright. When the only problems she had were small things, like test papers. She hadn’t really been very popular among the girls, mostly because she used to prefer to hang out around boys. She never really knew why. But her best friend at that time, strangely a girl, used to do the same. Why was she going through those memories again? Her so called best friend probably didn’t even remember her. No one did. Well, except for Bella. And Bella wasn’t really human, so she didn’t make that much of a difference. It was getting quite late. Just as Laurie was packing up, she heard a voice from across the room. Putting on her usual cold expression, she leaned across to see who it was. Just as she did that, she saw a boy trip and fall. His glasses fell a little distance apart. Laurie wanted to ask if he’s fine but her stupid mouth said “Who are you? She winced as those words came out, knowing she wasn’t really improving her image.

I, the stupid boy I was, would just lay there out of embarrassment as my hair turned a gold yellowy brown at the fact that someone had seen me fall on my face. I was sure that I had broken my nose with how hard I fell when, in all reality, it was only bloody.
I'd mumble just loudly enough to be heard
"Lotus... You?"
My face hurt enough to the point that I was trying to hold back tears, and it was kind of obvious that I was holding them back in my mumbled words. I knew that I should be tougher than this, considering that I fell from worse places back at the farm. I also in the moment didn't care to much to not sound blunt when I returned the question to what seemed to be a girl as I was trying not to cry. I so far hadn't had many bad interactions with girls but considering that I only knew a small few it wasn't really much of anything to go off of.
I didn't want to be seen as a jerk nor a cry baby even if in private I was a cry baby but most of the time I just kept to myself and was soft spoken well until someone got me started on dragons or dogs.

“W h-What? Are you…..is your hair…..ok? Do you need some help?”
Laurie scrambled to his side. Wow. She did have some empathy left in her, for emergency situations. And this was definitely one of them.
“My name is Laurie. Lotus…that’s a bit of a strange name. Do you need some help getting up?”
She knelt down beside him and helped him up, noticing him wincing as she did so. “That was…a hard fall you had there.” God, why was she acting so sympathetic. The new boy would start thinking she was one of those people who loved human interaction. Well, she’ll make sure it’s clear to him later. Right now, she had to show compassion. That word felt so strange in her mouth. She was pretty sure Lotus had severely injured his nose, if not broken it.
“Can- can you stand?”
It must be so late by now. She would usually go to bed at this time, but this was far more eventful. Furthermore, a real life human was talking to her. And that wasn’t really an everyday event. Also, his hair just changed colours in front of her very eyes! She knew there was a term for it, yet she couldn’t remember it. She was definitely going to ask him about it later, now that they were somewhat on speaking terms.
“D-Do you need the nurse? I’m pretty sure I can go her here. You’ve got herself in pretty much of a bad situation right there.”
Laurie spoke those words in a stern tone, kind at the same time. Medical emergencies were never anything to joke about, like had taught her that enough number of times.

"No, no, I'm fine, I think.."
I just stood there for a moment as my nose started to trickle blood, and I'd wipe at the tears that had started to form in my eyes. By far, this was the most eventful thing that has happened today, but I didn't want to bother the nurse at this time of day.
I was sure that I had just made a fool of myself falling on my face and all. People treating me like a fool was really the one thing that I didn't want to happen considering that carrying around a plushie was something that little kids did and I wasn't a little kid anymore even if my plushie helped me calm down.
I'd look around for my glasses that had tried to get away from me. I would find them and make sure that they weren't broken or cracked because I liked my glasses and didn't want new ones. I'd put them on after deciding that they were fine.
There were a few things that I wasn't a fan of, change for one and another was blood so technically I was fine until I felt something on my upper lip and wiped at it to find out that my nose was bleeding so I just freeze not knowing what to do now.

Speech“Yeah…you’re definitely not fine. In fact, you’re anything but.” Laurie looked at him with a sorry expression on her face. There was blood under his nose, and she could tell that he was definitely not comfortable at seeing the blood. He might have a phobia. Well, he wasn’t the only one.
“You’re…a first year, aren’t you?” Laurie didn’t have to wait for an answer. She had this thing of telling apart people, because if it wasn’t a first year, he wouldn’t be standing here talking to her. He would have gone out of the room before he even saw her face completely. That’s what they all did. She also noticed he was really tall, for his age at least. Laurie wasn’t really short, but she wasn’t that tall either.
“Are you sure you don’t need to go to the Hospital Wing?” She asked him the question with a concerned look in her eyes.
“Also, it’s getting quite late and you obviously need some treatment now so…” Laurie left the statement hanging in the air, knowing Lotus must have understood what she meant. The fall was quite hard, and by how quiet he was, he was most probably an introvert. That was one thing they both had in common.

Oh! oh beans, I'm bleeding.
I was slightly panicking because one I didn't want to go bother with the hospital wing, and two nurses scared me.
"No really I'm fine!"
I was a first year, and as I had noticed, I was just a bit taller than some of the other first years, but I wasn't that tall. Sure, I was a little over the average height, but I wasn't all that much taller.
"No! No I'm fine I--I don't need to!"
I fairly enough sounded like I was scared but also like I was trying to hide the fact that I was scared. I didn't want to go to the hospital wing as I figured that they'd let my grandparents know and I didn't want them to worry about me after all I told them that I wasn't going to get hurt. I also would rather go back to the house common room but I did like it enough in the astronomy tower it was quiet and it seemed like not many people came up here unless it was for a class and I kind of didn't want to leave.
"um uh do--do you maybe have a tissue or--or something like that?"
I hoped that maybe she had something to stop the bleeding. Reducio

It was getting late, and they had to get back to their dorms. After Lotus asked her for a tissue, she frantically searched her bag, but she could find nothing. She opened all the pockets and emptied her stuff out, trying to find anything that could be useful. She always used to carry a pack around with her, but they just weren’t there this time. Which was strange, she knew she kept them. Anyhow, she didn’t have them with her at the moment. God, didn’t she have the survival instincts of a bug? Actually, no, that was insulting to bugs.
“N-No, sorry, I don’t have any right now. Maybe you can use the edge of your shirt? It’s not going to be very effective…but you might as well try it.” Laurie spoke in an apologetic tone.
As she was putting all the fallen stuff back, her songwriting journal slipped out. She quickly swiped it from the floor, covering it up with an awkward laugh. She really should learn to be more careful, shouldn’t she?
“It’s getting late now…do you need some help going down? I mean we are the same house…so it won’t slow me or you down.”
