Rory made his way through the halls of Hogwarts, winding his way past crowds of students and trying to avoid walking through the occasional ghost. His bookbag slug over his shoulder kept tucked close to him. He was pretty careful of his belongings and he definitely didn't want to drop anything, he was already going to be late to class.
The castle was absolutely humongous and the shifting stairwells certainly didn't help with getting around. He needed to make it to charms and he wasn't exactly sure where that was. They really should hand out maps of the castle to all the first years, he thought. Complete with all the moving stairwells marked visibly. But where would be the fun in that, he supposed.
He started to panic as the hallways emptied, the other students quickly finding their way to where they were meant to be. God, he really didn't want to be late. That would be such a horrible first impression. He pulled himself to the side of the hall, looking for anyone that knew where they were going to ask for help but everyone seemed to slip away before he could catch their attention.
He dropped his book-bag, letting its contents spill out ever so slightly out of the bag. There was nothing much he could do now, he supposed. He'd probably just wander the corridors until someone found him and could take him to class. Hopefully he wouldn't get a detention. He had heard something about a grace period for first years, but he wasn't sure if that was just wishful thinking.
He sighed, hitting his head against the stone wall as he leaned back. Well, at least he tried, he supposed. And he was sure to find out where he was meant to be eventually right?

Thank you to anyone who wants to role play with me! I'm really looking forward to meeting new people here, and to getting to that 20 post count so I can do homework lmao. Never thought that would be something I would be excited for haha.

Miren, like Rory, was running late for her first charms class. The only difference between the two was the simple fact, that she didn't seem to care. At all. The hallways were already empty, yet her steps were absolutely calm and she even stopped a few times to adjust her book-bag, whenever it started sliding off of her shoulder. She'd had plenty of experiences like this back at the Muggle school and one just got used to it after some time. Whatever she would miss, could be learned later and if she got detention? Wouldn't be the first time.
Once she turned around another corner, her eyes fell onto another student, a boy around the same age, leaning back against the wall. Normally, Miren would assume he belonged amongst the likes of her – absolutely unbothered, but this guy? No, he seemed too defeated not to care. Well, sucks for him. There were plenty of possible reasons why he was running late, however, Miren definitely didn't plan to find out about any of them. She intended to just walk past him without sparing him as much as a glare at first, but ended up stopping a few steps away from him anyways in the end. She looked him up and down with a look, that made it seem like he was bothering her with his mere presence before finally speaking up: "What, waiting for problems to just come to you?"

Interacting with @Miren Hawthorn and @Rory Courtenay if that's alright!
Dido turned on the tap in the bathroom, splashing some water in her face to clear the redness around her tear-stained eyes. She sniffed, trying hard not to think about her parents or the animals back at home. Forcing a smile, Dido began to leave the bathroom, considering picking up the pace when she saw the empty corridors. She worried, "People are already in class!", but quickly came to the conclusion that skipping it entirely under the pretence of illness or getting lost would be better than starting the year off with the bad impression that arriving half-way would incur.

Forcing a smile, she turned the corridor, planning to head back towards the Slytherin Common Room to write in her diary, but stopped short when she saw two more first years, possibly also skipping. Dido considered leaving them to their conversation, but, seeing their green and silver Slytherin ties, she smiled slightly and took a few steps forward. The boy was slumped against the wall, his head bowed in hopelessness but the girl stood tall to her full height, looking him up and down in mild derision. She looked… fierce? Like Hellie, Dido’s family’s cat, who would sneak behind people and leap out to bite their ankles when they least expected it.
So Dido straightened her back, wiped her eyes again and stepped towards them with an attempted confident and unbothered air.
She called out to the two children in a casual but tight and controlled tone, “You skipping?”.
