"Oh, alright..." James said, sighing, looking back at his homework. "All I need to do is finish this homework, but I just can't seem to get it!"

"What's your homework?"
Kaegen looked at the page. He wasn't very good at this kind of thing, but maybe he had heard something?

Clary practically fell into the common room, her books papers scattering onto the floor after she'd been leaning a bit too much against the door to push it open.

"Oops!". The frazzled blonde bent down, hastily collecting her notes, and attempted to stack them back into a neat pile, her pale eyes darting around the room to meet the gaze of the other students present.

She laughed hesitantly, quickly recovering as she brushed a lock of hair behind her ear. "Sorry about that. I can be such a clutz sometimes." Wishing her cheeks would stop burning read, she quietly ducked her head and sat down at an empty seat, hoping she wasn't intruding as she pulled out her herbology notes, more sketches of random plants than anything else, and began doodling, pretending to be productive.

"Professor Blackburn's homework that he assigned..." James mumbled back. "Did you do it?"

"I was catching exploding ants. I wasn't even aware that there was any homework"
Kaegen looked at the boy, slightly confused. Was he supposed to be working on homework?

"Well, yeah!" James exclaimed quietly, "Professor Blackburn gave us five questions to answer plus a bonus question." James explained.

Clary listened to the boys' conversation, not technically eavesdropping, as they were currently the only ones speaking in the room. Setting down her pen for a moment, she turned, raising an eyebrow in Kaegan's direction. "Exploding ants are a real thing?"

"I don't suppose any of them have anything to do with creatures, do they?"
Kaegen's head vanished inside his robe, and then popped back out. "I can help with creatures. But I'm hopeless with charms." He turned to look at the girl
"Yeah, do you want to see them?"

James waved and smiled to the girl before turning back to Kaegen.
"No, they're all about how to cast charms, what's needed, what are some examples... blah-blah, blah..."
James rarely ever said blah-blah, blah, so that was just a little weird for him.

"Um... sure?" She glanced curiously in the boys' direction, never having heard of any ants that exploded. Where she came from, they just kind of walked along, minding their own business as they notoriously stole crumbs from oblivious participants in the practice of picnicking in the park.
