It was precisely one whole week after Cash returned from the land of ice, which is Koldovstoretz. The coldness of the Russian school put Hogwarts cold-biting air to shame. Cash was there to attend the International Magical Olympic Games. Came to meet new acquaintances. Had hung out with their Catelobruxo cousin in between the events. All in all, the visit was somewhat nice.
Now, Cash was in the Duelling Club. The last time the Sixth year was in the room was some years ago. Cash could not remember when, but it feels like ages ago. With the room almost empty, with only two other occupants in the room, the silence of the room was almost deafening. The former Prefect of Slytherin wondered how they always ended up with odd requests from strangers.
And what evebizarrebizzare was, how the young Ironwoods say yes to the young eagle that once sought after. No. more like ran after the usual grumpy young socialite. "Alright then, let's get this moving, "They say to both of the young students. Both Julia Evans and Natasha Jones stood on the opposite end of the piste facing each other.
"I hope you know how this works,"Cash's eyes bounced from Evan to Jones.The former looked at Cash and blinked her eyes, confused. In comparison, the latter looked at the straight O's student blankly. Cash let out a sigh. "I expect nothing less from you since both of you are first year. So, this is how it will go down..."Cash uttered.
For the first few minutes, Cash explained how this works and the mechanics of Duelling. After a few beat and some deep breath later, Cash had ended their explanation. "Any question?"They averted their eyes from Evans to Jones. Cash gives both the young first-years some time to raise their question. When there's none, Cash took a deep breath.
"Well then, if there's none... wand at the ready, get set, Duel!"Cash made a slicing motion and stepped aside to the oversights podium that most official Duelling Captains and Co-Captains used.

𝕵ulia smiled. It was finally time for her first duel! For years, she had yearned to do one, and now she finally could. The day before, she had sought out a young sixth year slytherin, @Cassandra Ironwoods, to mod their duel. Much to her surprise, Cassandra had agreed. Honestly, Julia didn't know why she had chosen her of all people, but she had heard Cassandra's name quite a lot, which resulted in her approaching the former prefect. As she walked to the duelling club, Julia found her thoughts wandering back, 5 years. She was 6 then, 'duelling' with her 5 year old cousin, Emmeline, using sticks and rocks. Just the thought of her cousin made Julia shudder. What she wouldn't give to see her, and her family again. Over the winter, the events that took place had left Julia scarred and reserved. Who had once been a girl of smiles and joy, was now a girl of memories and grief. Not one of her friends knew. They all didn't see the true Julia. No. She had built strong walls around her. And those were the exact walls that came back up as she walked into the duelling room, smiling softly.
● ● ● ● ● The room was quiet as Julia and Natasha stood facing each other on opposite ends of the piste. Julia quickly surveyed her surroundings. Heavy oak doors marked the entrance, on the rightmost side, bolted into the stone wall, was an iron placard reciting the rules and etiquette of the sport, upon entering she saw an enormous open room, its high ceiling illuminated by floating candles. Stone tiles made up the flooring, complete with a few cracks, no doubt from the years and years of duelling that had taken place. Julia turned to Cassandra who started speaking. "I hope you know how this works," Oops. Julia knew a bit, and of course, she knew the spells, but she didn't know how the duel worked. Thankfully, she wasn't alone. The 2 first years looked at the slytherin with looks of confusion. Understandably, Cassandra sighed and quickly explained how this worked. "Any question?" She asked once she had finished explaining. Julia felt the need for none. Cassandra had done a wonderful job explaining, and it seemed so to Natasha too. After a moment, Cassandra took a deep breath and said, "Well then, if there's none... wand at the ready, get set, Duel!" She made a slicing motion and stepped aside to the oversights podium. Julia smiled, feeling a rush of adrenaline as she got ready to cast her spell. "You're going down", she muttered to Natasha |

Natasha was definitely surprised when Julia asked her if she'd be interested in a duel, especially since she'd never talked to the girl before. She was, however, thinking about joining the duelling team, so a practice duel seemed to be a great idea.
She stood in front of her mirror, glancing at her outfit. What was one supposed to wear for this sort of thing?
Eventually, she'd gone for a loose t shirt and trackpants. Easy enough to move about and dodge in but not so loose that they would be a hinderance.
Walking down the hallway, she thought back to the first duelling match she'd witnessed. Pure adrenaline. The stance, the furious shouting of spells, everything was magnificent. The trash talk was especially entertaining. She wondered if Julia would be okay with trash talk.
She entered the room to see that Julia and Cassandra (the moderater) were already there.
She gave a blank look to Cassandra when she asked if they knew the rules. Did she really think they would, or was it more rhetorical? After understanding everything, she got into a stance, ready to cast as soon as the duel started.
The spell she was attempting was harder than most, but she was pretty confident in her abilities, and knew that if the spell worked, it would definitely rattle Julia.
"You're going down".
Well, that answered her question about trash talk.
"In your dreams, Evans."

Tame was an understatement. As soon as Cash gave the signal to both of the first-years. Julia Evans and Natasha Jones had put out their Duelling stance like a seasoned pro Duellist. Cash smirked at the excitement that emmitted from the young birds. Perhaps in their spare time both Julia Evans and Natasha Jones had watched some of the official Duelling in the past.
Cash's green eyes watch the juniors with rapt and sharp gaze. Excited who will he the first one that shot out their spell. The unofficial moderator did not have to wait long as their wondering thoughts had been answered by Julia Evans. Julia Evans, with her own flourish of wand casting and movement had decided to sent out a Knockback Jinx across the piste to Natasha Jones.
Cash remembered that Flipendo and some amongst other spells are Duellist most favorite spell. And it seems Evans had research and study the spell quite well. Though it was not enough to hurt Jones. It strong enough to startled her. With an impaired hit that had successfully punch Jones square on her shoulder, the Knockback Jinx had proven to make her lost some of her steps as Jones staggered a bit.
"Steady now"Cash adviced to Jones. Usually Cash loved to fuel the Duellist competitiveness but this two had just began their Duelling journey and the Sixtu year feels like they had the urge to nurtured that curiousity side of both the first-years. One on one Duelling is quite intimate but Cash also has the responsibility to make sure ths Duelling practice session gone as smoothly as possible.
"You okay, Jones?"The Second-Strimg Slytherin Keeper inquired. Once Natasha gave her reepond, Cash nodded their head. "Alright! Take a deep breath and concentrate"They added. Once Natasha gained her bearing, it was her turmed to showcasing her spellcasting repetoire. With lazer eyes focus that almost scared Cash, Natasha Jones pointing her wand.
With an almost absolute resonate of the Rictumsempra, she had casted the Tickling Charm at Julia Evans. "I'll be damned!"Cash was impressed. For a first'year who casted a second year spell almost that flawless, it was not an easy feat. But Jones looks and make it so easy. Perhaps it is why the Sorting Hat had put Natasha Jones in the house of smart and and wit.
Jones had prove that the hat never wrong. As spon as the spell fly across the platform and hit Evans right in her chest, a tickling sensation will start to engulfing her slowly. For a starter, this Duel was not a bad start after all and Cash can not wait what other spells that are up to both Julia Evans and Natasha Jones' sleeves.

𝕵ulia clenched her fist. Her flipendo had worked, but it was an impaired hit, while Natasha's Rictumsempra had worked perfectly. I'm going to have to try harder, she thought fighting back a giggle. Stupid. Tickling. Charm. Cassandra did some... commentary, as Julia got ready for her next spell. She had always been more ticklish than others, not something she was proud of, and definitely not something she liked. Now, not only was she continuously giggling, which might mess up her spell incantation, her aim would also be messed up. Ugh. Thanks a lot Jones. But Julia wasn't one to sulk, she smiled ever so sweetly, and spoke in a deadly tone only loud enough for Natasha to hear, “You don't know what you're asking for”. She and Natasha weren't enemies, but right now, they were as competitive as could get. Julia had been naïve enough to think that Natasha wouldn't use second year spells or above, else she would have practiced too. But to ponder over such things of what “could have” or what “might have” was time consuming, and, quite frankly, distracting. And she could afford none. Julia, once more, took her duelling stance and readied her wand, preparing for her next spell. She had a duel to win

The knockback jinx from Julia nearly sent Natasha off her feet. For a split second her stomach lurched, certain she was about to hit the ground before she managed to catch herself and regain her balance. Grimacing slightly, she took Cassandra’s advice and forced herself to steady her stance instead of panicking.
When she returned the attack, the spell from her wand proved far more effective than Julia’s earlier Flipendo. Natasha grinned as Julia dissolved into helpless giggles.
Even the sixth year seemed impressed by the spell, and the thought gave Natasha a welcome surge of confidence. Julia’s expression made it clear she hadn’t expected Natasha to use second-year spells at all, which likely meant she hadn’t practiced them.
Natasha opened her mouth, ready to continue the trash talk, but she was beaten to it.
“You don't know what you're asking for.”
"I'm asking for you to lose actually, and it rather seems to be working, doesn't it?"
Natasha tilted her head slightly, watching Julia carefully for a moment. The confidence from her last spell still lingered, and she tightened her grip on her wand.
Her wand flicked sharply, sending a bright jet of light toward Julia. Natasha aimed quickly, hoping to catch the other girl off guard before she fully recovered from the laughing spell

As the old saying said, when you are playing with fire, prepare to get burn. Perhaps it was the initial plan Natasha Jones had in her mind. She had drawn and pointed her wand to Julia Evans, ready to aflamed her. 'Incendio' spilled out from the first-year's lips. The jet of light that came from the tip of Jones' wand was true and her aiming was done correctly.
Evans had prepared herself for the fire startx to lapped her up but nothing happened. "What was that, Jones? Are you sure your wand work correctly?"Cash jeered the young girl. As a moderator Cash supposedly act neutral. Stay in between. But their lips move faster before their brain could think.
"Try again, perhaps you'll be lucky next time"The green eyes continue their jeering. It did not take long for the other Ravenclaw to retaliated. Before Cash could saw what happen, Julia Evans' Fire-Making Spell resonated in the not so empty room. Although somehow Evans slightly missed her target, the fire started to lapped Natasha Jones' fabric of what Natasha decided to wear today.
Not only that, Evans did not come to play either. The fire that slowly burned Jones was not a small feat either. "What did she ever done to you, Evans? That was some serious fire"Cash's tone was far from rebuking the other young bird. It was leaning more to the quiet impressive side that laced in their words without the Sixth-year needed to say it out loud.
When Duellists started to throw Incendio back and forth between them, it was where the Duelling started to get interesting. Welcome to the gates of hell, you pyromaniacs.

Natasha bit her lip, turning to the moderator with anger shining in her eyes, "I seem to recall that the moderator is supposed to act neutral, not jeer at kids half their size"
She hissed as Julia's Incendio made impact. The fabric singed instantly, and a sharp sting spread across her arm, but she refused to so much as flinch. The heat was almost unbearable, but she stood her ground, her vein throbbing as Cassandra went on about Julia's skills. She wasn't even trying to be neutral, for god's sake!
She looked down for a second, forcing her breathing to slow and pushing past the pain, before turning towards the moderator. "You're clearly easy to impress," she remarked.
Turning towards Julia, she added, "Indian summers are hotter than your spell, Evans. This is barely a tickle."
She grimaced slightly at the heat before schooling her expression into one of indifference.
To an outsider, it would seem like Natasha had barely gotten a scratch. Only the tension in her eyes betrayed the pain. She was grateful for her natural ability to control her expression, as she was mad at herself for failing in her spell and was more than ready for revenge.
Smirking at Julia, she raised her wand, and cast.

Natasha cast incendio only for it to merely push her back, not set her aflame, while Julia casted incendio too, beautifully and perfectly setting Natasha aflame for 2 rounds, unless of course she set them out. It seemed as though Cassandra was enjoying this, as suddenly all meaning of being neutral while moderating went away. What was that, Jones? Are you sure your wand work correctly? "Try again, perhaps you'll be lucky next time"" The slytherin said as Natasha casted. Natasha wasn't slow in a reply either, her face glowing with anger, "I seem to recall that the moderator is supposed to act neutral, not jeer at kids half their size" Unfortunately for her, that seemed to distract her, not giving her the chance to evade Julia's spell. "What did she ever done to you, Evans? That was some serious fire" The moderator commented, either not hearing or ignoring Natasha's words. Before Julia could reply, Natasha jumped in addressing both her and Cassandra, "You're clearly easy to impress. Indian summers are hotter than your spell, Evans. This is barely a tickle." Looked like Cassandra was going to reply, but Julia cut her through. "First of all, I agree with Natasha. You are supposed to stay neutral," Then addressing, Natasha, spoke "But I don't remember you saying anything when she complimented your Rictumsempra? Therefore, I won't say anything right now either." She smirked What goes around, comes around It was the way of the world. "And about Indian summers, firstly do you know the meaning of 'travel'? And secondly please don't mask your emotions, it gets you nowhere, and I speak from experience. You are clearly grimacing and your eyes speak the unspoken words of pain" As Julia spoke, she felt her wall coming down a bit. She spoke the truth, and trauma in her words. But alas, even they were masked with the emotion of triumph and determination. Why was the world so complicated? She decided to ponder over that some other time. Right now, she raised her wand a smirk forming on her face. Natasha would have to watch out.

"First of all, I agree with Natasha. You are supposed to stay neutral,". "Oh cariñas! Ambas todavía necesitan mucho que aprender, queridas!"Cash said in Spanish. Their Spanish accent is thick then translate it to English. "Oh darlings, both of you still have a lot to learn, my dears!"Cash stated.
"It prove to me how naivë, unprofessional, and still youmg you are"They added. And when Cash sounded like complimenting Julia, Natasha speaks again. "You're clearly easy to impress,". And before Cash could reply, Julia voice out. "But I don't remember you saying anything when she complimented your Rictumsempra? Therefore, I won't say anything right now either." She smirked.
"They. My pronouns is they"Cash informed both of the young birds. Anyhow, let's contimue. For this round Julia was quick on her feet. Though she was quick on her feet, without wit, it means nothing. Julia Evans drew her wand and aimed at her target. Though Jones wand movement are precise and true but her accuracy worked against her as Natasha Jones did not need to break any sweat evading Evans' Green Spark Charm.
The Sixth-year held their tongue not to let their sassiness out when Julia Evans' accuracy worked against her. And just like a few previous rounds, Natasha Jones steal a lapse of chances. An angry Incendio echoes in the room. Jet of light and the big spark of fire hit Julia Evans without mercy.
"Bloody hell, guys!"Cash was shocked. "Did you two have beef between each other or are you just pyromaniacs?"Cash stated. Whatever it is, this unofficial Duelling practice feel like a start of rivalries and far from the tone of friendly competitive that shown on the first round.
And the Second-String Keepet hope both Julia Evans and Natasha Jones friendship survived after this practice.
