The weather was ruddy awful, Rafael noticed almost immediately as he entered the training pitch, the air sticky and suffocating to his lungs, the soft mud squelching beneath his feet in the most sickening way. April was a real bitch, he’d long since decided, as all she really seemed to do was mope around the environment, throwing tantrums and screwing up perfectly good days. After all it was supposed to have been a good day for flying. Not that the wizarding world actually had forecasts – a concept that seemed a bit stupid, in the boy’s most professional opinion. A little bit of foresight wouldn’t hurt, would it?

Nonetheless, no such weather could stop the Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team – he’d always longed for challenges, tests against his burning resolve, manifold conflicts to overcome. No, the weather wouldn’t be an obstacle, only a minor disturbance to an otherwise good game. Contrary to his inward opinions, a warm, glowing smile took over his features, his brown eyes searching the skies as he basked in the steady of trickle of sunlight shining through the clouds, the adrenaline slowly beginning to pulse through his veins, giving him a burning sort of energy, teeming off of him in thick waves. The rematch was finally upon them all, an unofficial game to test the new rosters and resolve of both teams. It was the Lions’ chance to finally prove themselves.

[Gryffindor had certainly suffered through a rough season this year, undergoing many losses and roster changes. Such a fact may have been discouraging to any other house. However, the Lions weren’t to be knocked down so easily.]

The boy slipped onto his broom with practiced ease, eyes wide in attention as he pushed off the ground, loosening his grip on the broom and allowing his weight to balance out for more agility. The air was far too sticky to be enjoyable, but for a quick moment, he’d completely disregarded its uncomfortable presence, allowing it to slip through his hair and into his nostrils as he flew his warm-up lap, legs tucked in and posture leaned forward in a perfect, practiced form. Flying was fickle, as was the broom, and yet, such things had always made perfect sense to the boy, as he’d known it for the entirety of his existence. Such things could hardly be explained, though the evidence shone clearly in every act he were to attempt in the air.

He absently noticed the sound of his own name, ringing through the air in the form of a very familiar feminine voice – he turned his head abruptly, quickly catching sight of his fellow SWAG member and his new best friend, Anastasia Beckett. His grin only grew wider – her fashion statement was bold, much like her personality. Hot damn, it was not misguided. He couldn’t help but wave in her direction, slowing his flying down enough to be heard – “Looking good, Anastasia!” He sent her a joking grin, an indication that he was jesting, a prod towards her wardrobe.

He would have continued on, if not for another pretty face – it was Lydia, the lovely girl from the Rehearsal Room, the very girl he had carried to the Hospital Wing not too long ago. The angel girl. He felt a small, almost unnoticeable blush cross his face at the very sight of her, his outrageous grin taming itself into something more sensible. Without much thought to his words, he spoke the first thing to come to mind – “Hey Lydia!” Then, to the boy sitting next to her, “and company!” It was then that he found himself utterly at a loss for words – what was he even to say? Well, he supposed he could visit with the girl after the match. Sending her a final grin, he wheeled his broom around, continuing at the pace he had once been flying.

Upon meeting his team at the benches, he’d slowed down his broom, taking a moment to refasten his gloves as he spoke. “Okay, team!” he started. “Hufflepuff’s down their star seeker, which means we have a good chance this game for a snitch catch. This is our last chance this season to prove ourselves. Let’s play our hardest, give the badgers a taste of their own medicine – NO MERCY!” A bit of a gung-ho morale speech, sure, but it wasn’t like there was much more to be said.

With that , the boy circled around, quickly finding his position on the field. The players were lining up, adrenaline was pumping – wait, was that Lydia’s boyfriend? The Captain’s eyes narrowed in the boy’s direction, a harsh glare shortly traveling across the field at Aaron Jones, priority chaser. Since when was he a Quidditch Player? No matter, the Gryffindor would have to make sure that the weak huffle didn’t any more playing time then he was supposed to. That decision in mind, his own eyes narrowed in on the Quaffle, his hands coming off the broom in anticipation. It was time to play.

There was no dull roar of a crowd this time. In fact the pitch was almost eerily, awkwardly silent. It wasn't really surprising that there wasn't very many people in the crowd, not a lot of students would want to come and sit on damp benches to watch an unofficial match. There were some either die-hard fans or loyal friends of players who could be seen spectating though, so that was pleasant.

None of this did much to calm the nerves of the young Gryffindor. He was still rather embarrassed by his failing in their most recent match against Slytherin. His arm still held a slight numbness but had healed exceedingly fast due to the fascinating medical advances of the Wizarding world, as such, the boy was in almost peak physical condition again. He just hoped he could go this match without breaking it. He wanted to prove he was an asset to his fellow Lions.

The time had come to make their grand entrance. The golden '66' was still emblazoned on AJ's uniform as he ran-up with his team and mounted his broom in sync with the rest of them. The game would prove to be interesting he was sure. He was yet to really speak to many Hufflepuffs, he could only hope they were a tad less violent than Slytherin had been.

Once they had done the traditional showboating for their non-existent crowd AJ pulled up next to his fellow Chasers, shooting the Captain a lighthearted grin. "Ya gonna kep yer heed thus teem Cap?" He shouted over to Rafael.

It was a strange feeling that overcame Quinn as he more or less lumbered over to the bench. He was of course dressed in his proper quidditch attire, but of course he was also missing the fact he wasn't on his broom. Whether he liked to admit it or not Quidditch was theraputic for him. It let him get out his frustrations, aggression, and anger all at once without hurting anyone...most of the time. This caused him to crack a small smile as he sat down next Annie Morgan as gently as he could. This caused the entire bench to creak uncomfortably.

But to be fair he was close to 8 feet tall by now and quickly approaching 400 lbs. However he got over himself and his thoughts to cheer on his friends and teammates. "Come on Badgers! Show em what Hufflepuff is made of!!" He practically roared and cheered on his team as they entered the field. A wild, yet warm smile plastered across his face. His emerald blue eyes alight with a competitive fire behind them.

He was just happy that those who usually didn't get to play were finally getting a chance. It was there time to shine and he was happy to oblige.

Teiki didn't feel prepared.

She hadn't even been on the quidditch team for all that long. She had only gotten on the team to be benched the last game. Which was fine with her, she didn't trust the skills she might've had. Or not- who really knew. After all, she had yet to play a game. What scared her most, however, was her position. She was the seeker- required to grab onto the small golden sphere. It was fast and it was hard to see. But even that wasn't what scared her. It was only part of it.

Rather, it was the space she was trying to fill. Serena had caught the snitch rather quickly last game. Her skills to find it and snatch it up that quickly surprised the first year, but she enjoyed watching the Hufflepuff fly through the air. But her? No, that wasn't likely to happen. Hopefully her team wouldn't mind too much- it wasn't an official game, after all.

She took a deep breath, flashing a smile to her teammates. They shouldn't have to worry about her own expectations too much. It was the perfect place to figure out where she stood in skill and talent- right? The young Hufflepuff would kick off into the air, following her fellow teammates as they flew a lap around the Quidditch pitch. Just try your best and we'll see how this goes...

Charlie wouldn't exactly call this quidditch weather. Stifling and sticky, it made his fingertips gloss over the silver streaks of his broom quite awkwardly. The weather wasn't exactly hot, but under his uniform, he certainly felt the dampness in the air. The last game had been quite the scare-- Slytherins seemed the type to bash and thrash-- so he hoped that the Hufflepuff team would serve to be a more calm game. His excitement was quite palpable, even if he himself had a focused look-- his new broom glinting and sparkling despite the sore lack of sun to really show off what months of saving up looked like.
His dear, sweet Silver Arrow.

He flew up and prepped himself, getting into the starting position with small nods towards his teammates. He wanted to win, but now that the first-time jitters had been literally beaten out of him last game, he was quite a bit more collected in his actions, sitting tall on the broom with one hand steadying him, the other hand wiping the condensation off his forehead.

He hoped it was going to be a good game.

Wren was pretty nervous.

This was her second game of the year and she was not the backup but one of the main players. In addition to being excited, she was also extremely nervous. So many worries were flying through her head so felt like she was going to throw up. What if she embarassed the whole team? What if she fell off her broom and caused something really bad to happen? What if she caused her team to loose the game? That would be the most awful thing she could do. Despite all the worries running through her head she decided to get it together and walked onto the field with a big smile on her face, so that she didnt effect any of the others by her mood.

To her, being a beater was a big responsibility. They were responsible for taking out the good players on the other team. Yes, someone was goung to get hurt. That was the way Quidditch worked. If someone wasan't knocked out in a game, then she considered it a bad game. Beaters were the main reason for that.

Ariana tugged at the collar of her quidditch robes, letting out a loud sigh, the weather was hot and humid and she couldn't wait to get out onto the pitch and feel the refreshing breeze wash over her. She knew that a few of her friends were coming to watch the game and her excitement increased as she peered out of the changing rooms, her broom firmly clasped in her other hand. The sky wasn't completely clear, there were light grey clouds, littering the overhead blue sea and Ariana couldn't help feel that these were not the best conditions for a quidditch match. The gryffindor beater knew that this was ultimately a rematch. She hadn't been there last time the gryffindors had lost to hufflepuff but she knew that it had been a sore loss. The gryffindors were determined to win this. After the team was given the prep talk and the signal to go, they walked out onto the pitch. She reflected on Rafa's earlier words as she mounted her broom and steadied herself. ‘NO MERCY!’ she smiled and rolled her eyes slightly at his antics, she was lucky to have him as her captain. She glanced up into the stands noticing James and Janet beaming at her. She waved back at them a bright smile on her face, and felt her confidence return. Rafa was right. No mercy this time, the feisty gryffindor beater was going to give the hufflepuffs all she had. Game on.

This was the first unofficial game and admittedly, he was feeling okay. He had taken Quinn's usual spot, which was rather confusing at first but nonetheless grateful. The prefect felt a tinge of nervousness however, he hadn't played since their first game against Slytherin. Benchwarming had become quite a past time for him in the last two games, not that he minded. It meant that the other beaters were safe and he didn't have to see them fall. He relied on his practice with the rest of the team, each meet was time taken out of his day.

Even on his off time, he was working on his swinging and his aiming. Reid thought over what he could possibly miss from this game, what he could be lacking. But he could only do so much thinking till he flew into position. He gave a small wave to the benched players, especially his friend Quinn. He owed it to the co-captain for giving him a shot to play at least one math. He just wanted to make sure that he would live up to their expectations. As he took his position, he relaxed and his heartbeat didn't seem so loud anymore.

"We're counting on you, chief! " he spoke loudly to Saskia. It was a team effort, but Reid had odd ways of showing his support for the young captain. He at first had some doubts about the young student, he picked up the 'seniority complex' despite only being a third year. But after the wins they've held, he couldn't be anymore proud of being led by both her and Quinn.

Even though it was not an official game against the Hufflepuff team but to Griseldis, it was still exciting and would be a great experience to enhance their skills. Although it was slightly different this time because the roles had been reversed, the original second strings would be the first strings to play the game first while the original first strings would be the second strings. Well, Griseldis didn't mind just sit and watch for now. Observing could also be a part of training to see how their team and their rivals play.

Sitting at the bench with the others, she watched how their former second strings getting into their positions and were ready for the game to start. "GO! GO! LIONS! SHOW THE BADGERS OUR MIGHTY RAOR!! AND DO YOUR BEST!! I HAVE FAITH IN YOU GUYS!!", Griseldis gave them her loudest cheer and punching the air upwards. She also hoped that her teammates would take it seriously even when this game wasn't really official. It was their golden chance to finally play first against the Hufflepuffs. It would be great if they could win but if they lose they should accept it as a training and reflect on it to become stronger for the next official games in the future. However, Griseldis did hear from other people that the Hufflepuff Quidditch Team was way tougher than the Ravenclaws and the Slytherins so Griseldis couldn't wait and see if that could really be true.

Lamik sat down on the bench, looking out over the field with a strangely somber look. The last game he had played in was a very close one, and he really didn't like the fact that he had never managed a quick victory for his team, unlike some of the other seekers. This time the pressure wouldn't really be on him. Not at first, at least, as he was set as the second string for this one game. This game, of course, which was a rematch of sorts between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, wouldn't actually help his team in any way. They had already lost the Quidditch season, and the current match was simply.... well... for fun.

A large part of Lamik wasn't entirely sure what he was doing there. Not on the bench- no, it was somewhat nice to not have to be sent straight into the middle of the game. Instead, he wasn't sure what he was even doing on the team. He wasn't passionate about quidditch at all, unlike his teammates. He first joined the team because he wanted to try something new, not because he was especially sporty. As time went on, and as he realized that his talent as a seeker was average at best, the boy had a more and more difficult time enjoying quidditch.
