The world seems to be immersed in the warmth of spring. While listening to the chirps of birds and enjoying the scent of blossoms, Cassie, in an instant, feels like dancing. Those who have seen Cassie walking in the corridor might know that she always seems elegant, but few knows the reason behind it. She has been practising ballet since she was four. She felt in love with this elegance dance form the first time she saw it. Practising ballet definitely wasn't an easy thing to do, but love and passion helps her keep it as a hobby until now.
She didn't practise much when she was at Hogwarts, but last year, when she was absent from school and went to China with her parents, she spends at least two hours practising Ballet, improving her strength and flexibility.
Feeling strongly of practising Ballet, she changes her clothes into a tutu dress, a dance wrap and ballet tights, picks up her pointe shoes and goes to the ballroom. She puts her things down at the corner of the huge room. She loves the feeling of the cool marble floor. She takes her normal shoes off, does some front and side splits for warm up, and puts her pointe shoes on. The marble floor is indeed to smooth. She gets a small box of rosin and steps on them until the floor is no longer so slippery for her.
She walks a bit to the centre of the ballroom, and starts dancing her favourite variation--the blue bird variation from Sleeping Beauty. With beautiful à la seconde and arabesques, her movements are lighter and more graceful than ever. Though there was no music, she feels like violins are performing music by her ears.

| _ | Bludger to backbeat to intercept to dopplebeater defense. The repetitive movements of swinging the heavy bat found themselves looped in the girl’s head as she wandered aimlessly throughout the castle’s empty corridors — a habit that she seemed to have taken to. A topic that frequented the realm of her mind was Quidditch. The somewhat forceful, violent sport seemed to very much enjoy invading her thoughts. It was somehow addicting to have the echoes of the whistling wind and the satisfying crack of the bat meeting the bludger ringing within her ears as she loitered. The thing about ruminations, however, was that they were so complex and convoluted such that it was impossible for the mind to remain on the same topic for more than five minutes. The brunette cycled through her thoughts, including some that manifested themselves frequently into her nightmares and daydreams (Quidditch was in this category), yet also including some that only hovered on the outskirts of her mind, apparating into her conscious thought every once in a blue moon. Upon turning a corner, the Ravenclaw’s thoughts flickered towards the canvas and easel sitting in her room and frolicked among deliberations of what to place upon the empty slate. The canvas was currently unmoving in the state of a blank, white field, patiently awaiting a brush’s stroke to strike colour and movement upon it. The search for inspiration commenced yet again. It was the most tedious part of the artistic process — to find something worth capturing for eternity was no easy feat — yet it was something that came so naturally. When inspiration hits, it is evident that it is the one — almost like true love, except true love wasn’t real. The girl soon realised, amongst her fragmented musings, that she no longer quite knew where she was. She had somehow managed to subconsciously inch her way up the winding stairwells onto a floor that she wouldn’t have visited under normal circumstances. Was that the Duelling Room that she glimpsed from the edges of her vision, or was her sight failing her? The brunette became rather bewildered as she considered her presence in this particular part of the castle. Her feet carried her forward, mind lost in the clouds — when the grandiose door of the Ballroom seemed to apparate before her. How curious. The Ballroom, for all its grandeur and pompousness, presented itself as more of a room of mystique and… alien. The room itself felt foreign to the artist who was versed in neither singing nor dancing or anything of the sort, and it was an understatement to say that balls failed to interest her. Perhaps it was the enigmatic nature of the room; perhaps it was the soft sound of footsteps that seemed to emanate from within that created an almost whimsical, rhythmic pattern. Regardless, there was some form of allure—a magneticism— that lured Ebony Vetra to push the doors to the Ballroom open for the very first time in her five years at Hogwarts. The sight that reached her eyes held her enamoured. The diamond-encrusted chandeliers that were affixed to the ceiling produced enough shine to blind, and the wispy ambiance did not fail to enchant, both figuratively and literally. What captivated her the most, however, was not the arched structure or the glow or the crystalline design. It was her. A lone silhouette adorned in complementary blue garments that exuded poise and finesse. A lone silhouette who moved lithely amongst the shifting shadows created by the enchanted lamps, moving delicately from tip-toe to turns. The room was silent, void of any musical melody — yet, it seemed it was as melodic as ever, the dancer’s en pointe creating a harmonious rhythm of its own. It was a perfect blend of strength and grace. The Ravenclaw didn’t think that there was anything that could possibly connect the power used in Quidditch with the artistic flair present in art, but alas—there it was, situated before her very own eyes. Ballet. Bewitched, Ebony could not bring herself to turn around and leave the opulent room; instead, she stayed rooted where she was, ogling in awe. |

Dance En Pointe
Cassie is so lost in the world of dancing. The music in her head becomes louder and faster than ever. The very last seconds of the dance are her favourite-- pirouettes. She spins on the cold marble floor of the ballroom, with her right leg straight towards the ground and her hands close to her chest. One pirouettes, two, three... she cannot count how many times she had spun. She closes her eyes, feeling safe as she is sure she won't hit the walls, and she feels like she has floated into the air. The beats of the music becomes louder, and stronger. With a final, beautiful double pirouette, she leaps and makes her ending pose, without shaking her upper body at all.
For a few seconds, she looks at the well-decorated walls of the fancy room, not realizing she has already finished the dance. Then, exhaust floods her for a second, and then disappears as she takes a few breaths.
Only then is she aware that she is no longer the only one in the room. Another girl is watching her dance. For a few seconds, she stands silently, without knowing what to say. Is her dance beautiful enough? Will the girl appreciate it?
It is when she realizes who the girl is that she smiles and says cheerfully, 'Ebony! It has been such a long time since we last met! How is everything going on for you?' Yes. The girl is Cassie's old friend back in her first grade, and she is glad to meet her again before her memories begin to fade...

| _ | Elegance, elegance, elegance. Ebony Vetra only stood rooted in awe as she observed the figure perform turn after turn after turn, spinning around in so many circles that it seemed impossible for the girl not to get dizzy. Though the brunette was in no way versed in the language of ballet, she believed the silhouette was performing what were called pirouettes. The control and grace of her movements served as a pinnacle of both artistic skill and strength; the turns were so composed and controlled that they almost seemed mechanical, yet there was something so raw and human and expressive about the way in which the figure was moving. If only one could control life the way the girl controlled her movements. It was so perfect, yet not to the point that it was conformative. The movement still allowed for some preservation of artistic expression. Though Ebony liked to express her emotions through penmanship and strokes of ink upon parchment; the lines carried heavy significance. She wondered if the dancing girl utilised the pirouettes and arabesques in similar ways — as emotional release, a catharsis of some sort. An incessant whirlwind of motion, of turns and blurred limbs. And then the girl stopped — an unprecedented wave of disappointment overwhelmed Ebony, for she was very much invested in watching the artistry. When the girl ceased to dance, it was almost as if an illusion had faded, as if the ballroom no longer seemed so elegant and opulent, as if the atmosphere had gone from illuminated to dimly lit. The girl turned around, and the brunette’s heart stopped for a second. Her eyes traced the familiar eyes, nose, and lips — the visage was one that she had come across before; one from her past. Cassie? Cassie Jiang, who had seemingly disappeared for a year or so? Her speculation was confirmed by the girl’s next words. “Ebony! It has been such a long time since we last met! How is everything going on for you?” So it was her. The figure wasn’t just any dancer; it was Cassie. She recalled that the younger Ravenclaw was, once upon a time, one of the few friends that she had back in her second and third years. A sense of retrospection and nostalgia overcame her; the various memories crafted from those weightless, carefree times were hazy and drifting further and further into the distance. To encounter somebody from the past — Cassie — almost allowed her to anchor those fragmented recollections within her long-term memory. Some fragments of the time she had spent with her old friends — many of whom had disappeared to who knows where — and her lips slightly curved upwards. She didn’t think of them as such at the time, but those days were happy. How could she have known? “Hello Cassie! It has been a while, indeed. I’m doing well. Gosh, where have you been? Did you leave Hogwarts for a while?” she asked. She didn’t mean to immediately bombard the girl with questions, but her curiosity had to be satiated. It also felt imperative to comment upon her old friend’s superb dancing skills, and so she added, “I really loved that dancing that you were doing. Where did you learn to dance like that?” Perhaps Cassie had been able to teach herself; perhaps the younger girl was just so talented that she required no guidance. Was professional guidance necessary for things like dancing? Was dance something that could be picked up on your own? It certainly didn’t seem like it; from the snippets of Cassie’s dancing that Ebony had watched, dancing — perhaps ballet in particular — seemed rather technical and skills-based. It wasn’t that Ebony was inherently interested in learning, necessarily, but she was curious nonetheless given her considerable lack of expertise in the dance area. |

Dance En Pointe
Cassie is thrilled when Ebony recognizes her at once too! Ever since Cassie's return to Hogwarts, she has sadly realized that many of her old day friends are no longer close friends with her. Most of them have gotten new friends and did not even spare a look to Cassie when they happen to meet in the corridors. It has been such a trouble for Cassie to form new friendships. She would never refuse to restart a friendship she has always valued.
'I am so glad to meet you!' she is so excited that the pitch of her voice is higher than usual. 'Yes, I missed nearly a whole school year last year.' she exaggerated the word 'whole' 'I went to China' she continues, talking about her past experience. 'My father worked there for a year, and you know, I was a bit stressed with my academics so my parents found it nice to bring me with them too. I miss you all so badly.' she can't help but grin a wide grin.
'Thank you!' Cassie feels delighted when Ebony praises her dance. 'My parents found me a Ballet teacher when I was young. I fell in love with the dance ever since. I had Ballet lessons three times a week before coming to Hogwarts. Then I practise regularly on my own in the ballroom or rehearsal room. I've been dancing for eleven years!' Cassie is surprised herself when she calculates the number. Eleven years... Time really flies.
'You know the spring royalty pageant which is coming up?' Cassie decides to talk about the reason why she can be found here today. 'I am practising some dances for my performance!' She moves her right foot in the pointe shoes a bit, changing her posture is always something nice to do after standing and talking for a long time. But don't get her wrong, she is not bored, instead, she is so thrilled to chat with an old friend.
