It was shaping up to be a bad week. He did not know why, or what he could do to change it. Only thing he knew deep in his bones was that if Cuthburt snarked at him one more time, he would flip.

The day of classes passed by in a speed that would be annoying even to a sloth. Every class seemed to go worse than the previous one. He forgot an assignment that he was supposed to hand in in History of Magic. In flying he toppled off his broom more than once. He could not seem to focus in defense, to such a degree he nearly poked out an eye trying to show the green spark charm.

The last class of the day had been transfiguration. Maybe it was the lack of focus, or maybe it was the snarky commentary of Cuthburt. Either way, every time he tried to do anything magical he either achieved nothing, or it exploded in his face. Nearing the end of class he was covered in soot and missing half an eyebrow. He was aware things could have gone a lot worse. It did not help his mood.

When the hour came and the class was released, he weighed his options. A part of him wanted to just leave all his belongings and storm out. Find his dorm, his bed, sleep… He was more than ready for this day to be over. After a second thought, he decided to take his time packing up. If he just left it long enough, he wouldn’t have to see anyone. He could sneak away unseen for once.

Packing everything deliberately in his bag, he finally slung it over his shoulder and strolled out. He had waited just long enough, as the corridor was practically empty. A sigh of relief escaped him. If he only could make it to the common room like this, there would be no problems. He made it down one flight of stairs, a corridor and another floor out of the way. He swung into the corridor close to the trophy room. There were a few more people here, but thankfully not many.

He was just about to turn a corner when the most annoying voice on earth reached his ears. Oh why couldn’t whatever higher power that existed have mercy on him? Probably because he did not believe in any. He halted and drew a deep breath. With a scowl he turned to face Olivia. «What His tone was biting. He did not fancy another round of their typical verbal sparring right now.

Olivia was having way too much fun this week, not only was she acing her lessons but the lessons with the Gryffindor's was pure entertainment. Max was doing horribly, it was like the poor guy was cursed. However, she couldn't care less about his misfortune as it gave her a reason to look forward to lessons and helped them fly by.

Max's luck was so bad she could predict when Max would mess up next and naturally always had a witty joke, well some may say mean comment ready for him. Max's reactions made it all the more better, and the few giggles from other students made her ego grow, she was loving it.

It had come to the end of their last lesson of the week, Transfiguration, which had gone way too fast for Olivia's liking. There were so many more taunts and snide commentry she had left to say, so many more giggles to be heard and many more eye rolls or atrocious comebacks to be sent back her way. The lesson had gone so bad for Max that he was now covered in soot and missing half an eyebrow, the spell they were learning wasn't even that hard she couldn't fathom how anyone could mess up like that. But at the end of the day not everyone had a knack for magic like her.

Olivia quickly packed her bag ready to leave with her friends when she spotted Max ever so slowly packing his things making her snigger as she left, he was hopless. As she made her way to the common room, she was buzzing, who knew anyone could have such fun during lessons that it hyped you up for the rest of the evening. Her friends couldn't help but enjoy this energy and almost instantly matched it. As they walked carelessly to thier destination Olivia spotted Max turn the corner, she just couldn't resist and gestured for her friends to go on without her.

"Oi Vidler!" she called out after him. She smirked as Max answered turning to face her as she tried to stifle her laugh, he looked ridiculous. "You really shouldn't be walking the corridors like that if you never want to see Theastrals," she commented, her signature smirk plastered on her face, "Here," she added throwing him a pencil, "Fill it in, I'm trying to do the school a service," she finished. "Come on Vidler have you gone mute as well as stupid?" she taunted.

He stared at her with utter contempt. She always managed to be around when he made a mess of things. With her laughter and non stop commenting. Fair enough that they fired up each other most days. He knew deep down that he was no better, but in the situation it was difficult to see that with clarity. Oh how he hated her. Could she not do the entire school a favor and just shut up? Or even better, leave entirely? Apparently not. Not only was she always around, but now she seemed to be following him too.

He did not comment on her joke. He had to admit he knew nothing concretely about what he looked like right now, but he could probably make a good guess. His face was more grey than anything even close to his normal complexion. The eyebrow… was unfortunate. He dragged a hand over his face, waiting for her to get her laughs out. He was frustrated to state the obvious, but walking away was not an option. That meant she won, and he was no quitter.

His vision being blocked by his hand was probably why he did not see the pencil being thrown. Just as he dropped his hand and opened his eyes, it came flying. She had probably not aimed it so on purpose, but the pencil hit him right on the nose. It was not hard, not at all. But it made him see red.

Her final snark was more than enough to make him snap. «Are you kidding me!?» The words were not important. He barely registered that they passed his lips. They did not matter to either of them really, as he charged at her not even a second later. Putting as much weight into the punch as he could, he threw the first punch. Swinging a bit lower than intended, the punch landed close to her shoulder. The face was a hard hit for the knuckles, but hitting fabric did not have even close to the same satisfactory sound. Not giving her much of a chance to reach, much less strike back, he lashed out again. Aiming for the jaw with what he hoped was a bit less power, and more accuracy.

Olivia stood there in shock as Max punched her near her shoulder. It did hurt but she wasn't about to show it. She tried her best to not let her face give it away, but annoyance was clear as day on her face. She couldn't believe he had just gotten physical, they were just joking around, she never took it this far when the tables were turned, he should be ashamed of himself. She now wished she hadn't told her friends to leave.

Olivia saw the anger in Max's eyes as his fist rose once again, this time coming straight for her jaw she quickly ducked causing Max to miss. So Max wants a fight, wonder what I said to get under his skin this bad, she thought a satisfying smile appearing on her face. She had clearly done a better job then Max at annoying the other. "I can add being better at getting under the others skin to the list of things i'm better at then you," she boasted before quickly sweeping her leg across the floor hitting Max's feet with enough force to make him stumble or fall. "Come on then Vidler, let's see you fail at this too," she provoked as she stood up straight fixing her clothes, "You'll regret this,"

Darn that he missed. Why did Olivia have to be so fast on her feet? He did not have the chance to stand around and think about it though, as his feet were swept away beneath him. He attempted to jump, but the kick was just a little too high. The impact made him stumble back and actually fall on his behind.

The whole thing was embarrassing. That hurt more than any actual pain inflicted. Then the annoying little shithead had to open her mouth once again. «I am so sick of you opening your stupid mouth all the time. Don’t you realize no one wants to hear it?!?» The words were spat as he got on his feet. He aimed a kick at her that were nowhere near actually hitting her. The hope was to put her on edge more than anything. He straightened out a bit and studied her for a moment.

«Really, go swim with the Giant Squid or something. Your words will honestly be better understood under water than above.» He circled her slowly before forcing a laugh. «Here’s an idea: Why don’t you just dive down and never come up again? You’d do us all a solid!» With that said, he charged at her. Forgetting all about punches and kicks, he bent down and went for her knees. Hoping to knock her to the ground. He would make her take back every stupid word she said and then some.

Olivia couldn't help but snigger as Max fell onto his bum, he looked like a little child falling when trying to do a simple task, he really was ridiculous how did anyone want to be associated with him or even be this losers friend?

Olivia couldn't help but smile as Max finally spoke, she just needed the verbal confirmation as well as the clear physical one about how far she had really gotten under his skin, this was the furtherest she had managed to go thus far, she couldn't be prouder. But then the words he spoke next left her shocked it was clear as day on her face, she couldn't believe her ears. He didn't mean that did he? He didn't actually hate her that much did he? This was all fun and games he had to be joking, he had to be She couldn't help but begin to question herself.

Olivia quickly snapped out of her thoughts as Max came charging towards her like a raging bull aiming for her knees. Olivia normally had quick reactions but not this time, that idiot Max had gotten into her head and taken her by suprise. Olivia fell to the ground with great force, as she fell she instinctively twisted trying to soften her fall, landing awkwardly on her wrist. A sharp pain shot up her arm causing her to whince in pain, "Are you fudging serious Vidler," she spat as she clutched onto her wrist, she was sure it was broken. She struggled to break free from his grip, she tried to kick and wriggle hoping to loosen his grip and maybe even knee him in the face, "Let me go, you utter unless, lame, good for nothing peasent," she spat.

He was so sick of her! Why did she have to be everywhere, all the time? Just forever present to annoy him and everybody else. He didn’t really mean what he said though. The words were forgotten as soon as they left his mouth. It was just the best comeback he could think of in the moment, and he was having a really bad day…

He managed to wrestle her to the ground and grinned in triumph. He didn’t really notice how she fell, or the fact that she got hurt. Too blind in his plan for payback. He positioned himself over her, sitting on her stomach. «No, I think we’ll stay here for a good long while!» He gloated, but struggling to keep his balance from shifting too much as she wriggled and kicked.

«Besides, I have something to show you! You see, you might see me as a useless peasant but not everyone is of that opinion.» He reached beyond her head for his bag that he had dropped when he fell. Thankfully it was within reaching distance. It was quite heavy though. Because of the awkward position he was in, he really had to put all his strength into snagging it. It hit something on the way, but he didn’t bother to investigate.

He pug the bag down right beside him and scrambled through it one handed. Where was it? Aha! With triumph he pulled out an assignment from Herbology they had gotten back a few days ago. He was quite proud of the grade he had gotten. The professor had even called him a little green leaf! He shoved the parchment in Olivia’s face, gloating. «Hah! See?»

Max didn’t seem to care that she was hurt which angered her more, She wriggled and struggled as much as she could but to no use as Max had managed to wrestle her to the floor and sit on her stomach. She wanted to slap that stupid grin off his stupid face, how was this even happening? His weight made her a little breathless but it was nothing she couldn't handle. She knew she was stuck now but she still attempted to wriggle and kick so he couldn't get comfortable or even get the slight inclination that she had nearly given up.

The pain in her wrist was getting worse, she could barly move it now, "Get off," she seethed not wanting to get attention from other students as she was clearly losing. Olivia was not paying any attention to the uttlery boring words coming out of Max's mouth, she figured it was something about proving her wrong, but she really didn't care she just wanted to get to the hospital wing or to her brother. She couldn't believe Max was the one that caused her to take her first trip to the hospital wing as a patient.

She flinched slightly as Max's hand went above her head, she was sure he was about to punch her in the face but then he reached further ahead. What are you getting? she thought a little worried now but still wriggling hoping to make him loose his balance and fall off. She tried to glance over to see what he could be grabbing but then something heavy hit her head, hard.

Her vision began to blur, she began to panic internally, this had never happened before she didnt know what was happening. Am I dying? She tried hard to concentrate on Max's stupid yet familiar voice to stay alert. But to no use her hearing was now getting muffled, "Max," she whispered as a single tear rolled down her cheek, "Help," she managed to whisper before she was engulfed into darkness.

He was quite pleased with the situation he found himself in. The anger was even slowly draining as he showed off his victory. Not only the fact that he was winning their fight, but that Olivia finally seemed to have no good comebacks.

The tone of voice she used next made him pause. It sounded almost like a plea, and he couldn’t quite get how that made sense. Cuthburt was no whimp, and would willingly ask for help about as often as himself. It was probably a ploy. A trick to gain back some leverage. Still, he put aside the parchment and looked closer at her. «Olivia?» His tone was skeptical to say the least. The lack of response made him carefully poke her in the chest. «Hey, you can try all you want but…» The rest of his words died in his throat.

When had she gotten so pale? Any more and she would be as transparent as a ghost. As his brain took in the possibility that she was not faking, he scrambled off her. His face turned into worry, then twisted with fear. «Olivia? Hey, Cuthburt!» No response. He heaved a breath as he got to his feet. What on earth happened? The tackle hadn’t even been that hard! He dragged his hands overhus face as he paced back and forth for a moment.

A small part of him wanted to run. Just abandon her here for someone, anyone, else to find. He could just pretend he had been nowhere near here. His conscience did not allow it. He had to do something. He could scream for help. That would make him feel better, but would ultimately not be very helpful. He could run and find help. That was a better plan. But the closest were probably students, such as themselves, and this seemed more like something for the school nurse.

He paced a couple of steps back and forth, fighting with himself. One thing was for sure: He could not leave her. The tackle may not have been too hard, Buthelezi was still responsible. Something looked wrong with her wrist too. It made him want to cry. Breathing hard to choke any possible tears, he leant over her.

«I’ll get you to the hospital wing, okay? It’s not that far, I can…» It was on the same floor, but it was far enough. Letting go of his strands of hair that he had been pulling at, he nodded to himself. «I will. I will get you there.» A shaky breath and he grabbed her shoulders. Getting her up while she was just about as much help as a sack of potatoes, was not easy. He managed to crouch down and halfway sling her over his shoulder. Getting up was the hardest part. It ended up with him holding her as if they were dancing in a tight space. He tried to move his feet, and stumbled a little. Her feet was in the way. But he refused to let her go. Step by careful step he moved them down the corridor. Closer and closer to the hospital wing, the more he choked on a sob.
