Locked in a bathroom.
Finally, I was having a good day.
The classes had been great. The homeworks had been great. Everything today had been great.
Until, in potions, I touched a sticky substance, I still don't know what the hell that was, and I almost passed out. As soon as the class finished, I didn't move my hand until I got to the Girls' Bathroom.
There, I washed my hands until they were clean. I hated the sensation of sticky things on my skin. It was disgusting.
A couple of girls who were there left, leaving me there alone. I figured I had about twenty minutes to get to my next class. My time was measured.
But, when I walked to the door to open it...
It was locked.
No, not locked. It was... stuck?
My first thought were the girls who walked out before me, but then I took that out of my head. Why would they trap me in here?
My second thought was to go towards the window and see if the fall would hurt. I dismissed that one, too. It was a Fourth Floor, for God's sake. I even got nauseous at the mere thought.
Think, Mikaela.
I started pushing the door with all my strenght, but it still didn't move more than just a few inches.
I was starting to get late for my next class. I had to get out of here, now.

@Mikaela Hendricks 3/12/2026 Word Count - 309Reed was sitting in the hallway. He probably should be getting to class but he wasn't ready yet. He was reading a book and considering the results of his last prank which had been sending a cruel howler to a girl during dinner. He'd forgotten that howlers kept the voice of the person sending them.
Now that he'd been discovered he felt more carefree about his pranks. He didn't care as much if he got caught.
A group of girls left the bathroom and gave him quick glares. He returned the looks and stood up. As the girls walked away he realized that there was still a girl in the bathroom. He'd seen her go in a few minutes ago and she hadn't come out with the group. He smiled and walked towards the door to the bathroom.
He pulled out a little pin that was holding up his robes and looked at the lock. He had found that learning muggle ways of opening doors was quite helpful. He stuck one of the pins into the lock and turned it carefully until it locked. He pinned his robes again and grinned.
The girl inside was a fellow first year. And a Ravenclaw. That was all he knew about her but that was enough to guess that she probably didn't know the unlocking spell. Just in case she did he hurried out of the way so that she wouldn't see him.
He considered his options. He had to go to class soon but those girls had seen him near the bathroom. He decided to go to class and come back after to let her out. That way he might be able to pretend he was the savior.
He hesitated. He wasn't sure whether this had been a good idea or not. However, it was too late to back out now.
Locked in a bathroom.
Five minutes.
I had been stuck in here for five minutes, and that stupid door didn't seem like it was about to unlock itself.
I had now fifteen minutes to go to class, that considering that I got out of here in the first place.
Think, Mikaela, think.
I considered the window option once again. This wasn't the first time I got locked into a bathroom.
But those bathrooms were usually on the first or second floor, where I could jump safely. Or, at least, fall without breaking a leg. And I was smaller back then. It wasn't the fourth floor and I didn't have the body of an eleven year old!
Think.
And finally, an idea popped into my head. I read somewhere that hairpins could work in here. But I never used hairpins. Now I understood why pa always insisted on me using one.
But this was the Girls' Bathroom. Luckily, some girl let one fall or forgot one or something like that.
I started searching in each one of the cubicles. No, no, no...
Eureka! I found one dropped in one of the last cubicles.
I put it into the lock of the door and started praying.
I took a deep breath as I began to turn it.
Minutes passed, I looked at the clock to see what time I had left now.
Ten minutes. I had to get out of here.
I was starting to get nervous when...
With a slow, almost torturing rythm, it started to turn.
I smiled. Luck, I guess. But why was this stupid lock so slow to turn? I knew it was old, but I didn't think it was THAT old.

@Mikaela Hendricks 3/12/26 Word Count - 202He peeked around the corner to the bathroom. There was a clicking noise. He swore softly. She was picking the lock. That changed things. If she'd never picked a lock before it would probably take her a couple of minutes to properly pick it but he didn't know her experience level. He had to get out of here.
He paused. Why did he have to leave. What did it matter if she saw him. He'd already been caught with the howler thing. Who cared if one more idiot knew he was mean.
Now that he'd made his choice he didn't want to be caught hiding behind a corner. He walked back into the hallway. He situated himself in a spot that she would be able to see as soon as she got out.
He'd NEVER purposefully tried to get caught when doing a prank. His pranks were cruel and designed for anonymity. But then again, he'd never been so stupid as to forget everything who knew about howlers as well. It was rather freeing to not constantly have to worry about his reputation. It was already ruined.
He kept waiting near the bathroom door. She was really very bad at picking locks.ReducioI'm really really sorry about how long this took. I've been trying to get all my work in for the quarter. I also won't be available for the next week because of vacation
Locked in a bathroom.
Finally, the stupid lock turned completely.
Well, I was already late for class. It started in...
I looked at the clock of the wall.
Now. The class was starting right now.
I swallowed. I've NEVER been late to any class before. Ever. In my whole eleven years of life, never late.
Could this end up in a bad grade? I'd lose points? Oh, Saints...
I finally pushed the door open and the first thing I saw was a boy.
... what was a boy doing in the girls' bathroom hallway? This was weird.
Well, probably he got lost. He seemed to be a first year and, by his red robes, a Gryffindor, for sure.
And he saw me picking the lock. Would he tell a prefect? A teacher? Oh, no, this was so bad...
"Oh... I-I'm sorry..." I said, not looking at him in the eyes. Suddently, the wall beside him seemed pretty interesting.
And I was stuttering. Again.
Well done. Now, if he talked to a prefect or a teacher about this, I'd be lost. I cleared my throat, still refusing to meet his gaze.
"Could you... could you please not say a word about what you saw?" I almost begged.
Then, I realized something:
He had seen me picking a lock... because he was standing in a place he shouldn't be at. He shouldn't have been around the girls' lavatory, to begin with. If he talked, I'd talk, too.

@Mikaela Hendricks 3/12/2026 Word Count - 205 I think? She finally opened the door. It took her forever. Class was already starting. He'd considered just leaving and going to class so he wouldn't be late too. However, he'd had that thought at the same time as the door finally opened.
She opened the door and walked out and.... apologized to him? He stared at her in confusion for a second before realizing that she had no idea he had locked her in. He let out a quick laugh.
The girl continued. Stuttering about him not telling anyone what he saw. How stupid could you be. He wanted to burst out laughing but he contained himself.
He waited a moment and began to see realization dawn in the girls eyes. He grinned.
"Don't worry. I won't tell a soul." He tried hard to keep the sarcasm out of his voice but she might still pick up on it. Then again, she was clearly an idiot so she might never figure it out.
He turned and began walking away from the bathroom and towards class. The full realization would probably come soon if she had any working brain cells, and he wanted to at least have a chance to get away before the anger came.ReducioI'm so happy play if over. Now that play is over my replies will probably be within a week. You can choose to confront him or go to class. I'm really sorry again about how long this took.

He smiled and started walking away.
Wait a second. He smiled?
Could it be possible that...
No. If he locked me in here, why would he do it? Why would he stay in here? Why-
But if not him, who else?
Once again, my legs and mouth worked faster than my brain.
"No, wait!" I practically ran after him. When I was finally walking by his side, I found a way to talk without stuttering. "You locked me in there!?"
This was bad. Bad memories, bad experiences. It wasn't my first time in this. But it was nonsense, he had no reason to lock me in here. All the other people who had ever locked me in a restroom (which were, very to my disgust, more than I wanted to admit) had reasons: It as either an undone homework or, to say the less, just to annoy the nerdy freak girl of the class. And I always managed to get to the next class.
Which led me to the second point: I was late to a class. Like, extremely late. By this time, probably missing the class. And I had never, in my twelve years of life, lost or missed a class. Ever.
