Through An Open Window
Charlie's first week at Hogwarts had come and gone rather quickly, and a warm Saturday morning greeted him through the open window like a friend. The new Ravenclaw boy had but one plan for the day, a plan that would have surprised his parents, and a plan that even surprised himself. While he would have much rather been out on the grounds with the others - he could hear and see at least a hundred or so people outside through the window - Charlie instead would be found in the library, researching for his an assignment that he normally would have shrugged off. But alas, he was a Ravenclaw now, and the Sorting Hat had called him clever. The Sorting Hat had been the first to call him clever, and while he hardly believed it to be true, he would have to try. This was who he was now.Backdated: September 5, 2019 - Late Morning
Charlie sat for a moment at a table before getting to work, opening his textbook, and staring blankly at the page before his attention was drawn once again to the noise outside. He could see kids sitting by the lake, kids playing some strange marble game, an older group huddled closely. "One hour..." he told himself. "Just give it one hour." He wanted to do well here, he wanted to learn magic, and he shuddered at the thought of what might happen should he fail to do so. Going back to his old school was not an option. He couldn't learn how to turn rabbits into roller skates or whatever there.
Although he wasn't certain that was a real spell, he thought for a moment about how someone might react should that spell be cast, more specifically how his sisters might react. It surely wouldn't be the highlight of his pranking career, but it did bring the smallest of grins to his face, because perhaps magic wouldn't need to be all about seriousness. Once he learned it to control it, he could have plenty of fun.

Adohiro's first week of Hogwarts was sure eventful, it was a bit crazy and of course, there were those annoying pesky immature first years along with some older students. It seemed like complete chaos for him, he actually sort of missed the old public academy in South Korea he attended before going here. He wasn't too happy about this school, he barely knew anything in this world, he was a pure blood, but he mostly focused on muggle academic classes since he attended a public muggle school. He wondered if it was done to humble himself so he wouldn't look down on the strange muggles. He would head to the library to properly study, it was chaotic for sure!
He would sit in the desks and he'd get his books out. He then began to slowly study ahead. He needed to be the top of his class to prove his older brother that he could lead. The baby-faced boy would work on his assignment quietly. He certainly wasn't happy about getting a ton of As and not even a single E. All of his training for English and for magic sure seemed like it was for nothing. He 'd sit and start to write his homework out in a neat and readable handwriting. He certainly wasn't the smartest, but he was a hard-working student. That was where he shone, his hard work got him good grades. Letting out a small sigh he would continue his work without complaint. He wondered if anyone else was having trouble in these classes. He certainly was. It seemed the teachers were much more strict. He would continue to work slowly and didn't know if there was anyone near him.

Charlie didn’t notice the other boy, not at first. His eyes were glued - best they could - to the page he was reading. One paragraph... two paragraphs... three para- “What does that mean?” he muttered as he read a word he didn’t recognize. He hadn’t expected that in becoming a wizard he would have to learn a whole new language, but he’d surely never heard of a bubotuber before. He brought his hands to his temples for a moment and took a deep breath, before pulling a notebook from his bag, and writing the word ‘Bubotuber’, adding it to a growing list of words he didn’t know. His gaze once again traveled out the window at the students relaxing and playing games. Were they all down there because they were born into wizarding families and already knew all of this? Or were even the muggleborns down there just simply smarter than he?
He ripped the next blank page from his notebook, folding it neatly and intricately into a paper airplane. He knew there was some sort of a flying spell, he’d heard a group of older kids talking about it in the common room, though they hadn’t tackled it yet in his class. When they did, perhaps he could use it to make the paper fly like a real plane - “For educational purposes of course,” he justified it to himself - but until then, hadn’t he earned a break?
After making sure there was no librarian looking his way, the young Ravenclaw boy threw the paper airplane as a gust of wind blew through the open window, allowing it to soar freely across the library.

Adohiro would sit in the cubicle near him and would hear his voice. It sounded like he needed help. "Yes, what do you need?" He asked the unknown boy politely and passively manner. She was a Ravenclaw based on his outfit, so at least it wasn't another mean prankster Slytherin. Adohiro certainly wasn't like that, he could pull pranks but they weren't mean spirited in any shape or form. Adohiro wasn't a typical Slytherin at all and he would cast a glance at the boy. The half Japanese and Korean boy would slowly work again. He couldn't believe these classes were that hard! He then noticed him that he had thrown a paper airplane to the window and it had flown out. It looked perfect as it flew and he would let out a low whistle. "Wow, that's cool. I've never really been taught how to make a good airplane. But I feel like you'll be scolded for doing something so childish." He let out a smile. "My name is Adohiro Moira. It means peace within the chaos. What is your name?" He would ask the unfamiliar boy wondering who he exactly was. He certainly remembered seeing him around.

He did not hear the other boy speak up, not until the paper airplane finally landed on the ground that is. At least it provided just a moment of tranquility in his study break, a welcome and temporary distraction from the educational monotony of the week he'd faced. But with the airplane no longer airborne, he could not ignore the voice speaking to him from across the library, a Slytherin boy, warning him that he could be scolded for his action. Charlie was familiar with his old teachers reprimanding him, but he wasn't worried right now. "I don't think I need to be too worried," he explained with a wink; he'd made sure that no one had seen him: no teachers, no librarians, no prefects. And besides, in a school of magic, a paper airplane was surely nothing compared to what other students had done. "I'm Charlie. And if you want to learn how to do it..." he began, pulling two fresh sheets of paper before getting up from his seat and moving closer toward the Slytherin. "Then there's really only one way to learn. I mean, if you want that is. I could just as easily make two more myself."

Adohiro would see the plane land after some momentum of its flying slowed down. He saw the unknown boy wink thinking he was a bit crazy that he wouldn't be caught. He could easily tell the prefects if he wanted to or even the professors and librarian. It was a bit of a crazy thing. He seemed to be very confident about not being caught which Adohiro, himself, could probably crush his hopes and dreams of it. He soon learned his name was Charlie, it seemed a bit of a common name you see in books and stories along with movies. "I am Adohiro. My name means peace within the chaos." He would introduce himself. he would get odd questions about his name so it was better to straight forwardly tell them. It was simple and easier that way. He would see Charlie move closer to him, he certainly seemed skill in the art of plane making and made it fly well. Adohiro, on the other hand, was less than skilled, he wouldn't dare to do any mischief like that around his parental guardians unless he wanted to face the consequences. He was a tad bit worried and he would let out a sigh.

"I am Adohiro. My name means peace within the chaos." the boy said to him.
"Nice to meet you, Adohiro, he replied, taking note that the boy had told him not only his name, but additionally what it meant. It made Charlie wonder just what his own name actually meant, because to him it roughly translated to 'I was named after my father, who I will never measure up to', but he hoped it had a deeper meaning like Adohiro's.
When Adohiro seemed not to take much interest in making a paper airplane himself, Charlie shrugged before settling back into a chair, and folding the next airplane himself. "So, Adohiro, you seemed to already know what airplanes are, I'm guessing that means you grew up in the muggle world like I did?" he asked. He had quickly comes to realize the stark culture difference between the students of Hogwarts who grew up in one world, and those who grew up in the other. It was odd to him how they could be so alike and yet so dissimilar at the same time. "Ever flown on one before? My family went on vacation once to Hawaii, trust me if you thought the train ride here was long...yikes."

"I did live in South Korea in the semi muggle world. I moved between South Korea, Japan, and China so I did ride a lot of airplanes. I did travel to America once in my life, but I barely remember it. I was like six years old at the time." He would smile softly and he would glance at Charles. "I have ridden cars, buses, trains, and planes in my life. I am a pure blood but we did live in the muggle world. We just kept it a secret." He told him him and he would glance at the window. "But I have never learned to make a paper airplane properly like you have since you're good at it. I feel like my old school would have suspended me if I ever did something childish like that." He would smile at him, he seemed like his parents were muggles possibly. He didn't know what it was like for muggle borns, he knew some pure bloods mistreated them or were just plain racist to them. It was a tad bit insane people were like that but he guessed even after centuries, nothing changes. People would always be the same as ever. @Charles Cutting

Charlie slightly grimaced as Adohiro once again used the word 'childish'. It sounded too much like something his father would say if he knew Charlie was folding paper in the library instead of studying like he had planned. It wasn't his fault though. He'd read the whole first page and was just taking a break. Breaks were good, they kept your from getting to stressed out. And the weather outside was calling him like a siren, so the fact that he was still in the library at all was a win in his mind. He could and would get back to his book any minute now.
"You know, you keep using this word 'childish', but the word I think you're looking for is 'fun'," Charlie replied. "Your old school must have been rather strict though if they'd suspend you for something so small as this. I mean, my old school didn't necessarily allow it, and I certainly got held back after class was over for the day a fair few times, but suspended?"
Perhaps the threat of a suspension would have been enough to make Charlie pay more attention back at his old school, but he was quite glad that was never an option. "So what's South Korea like? And Japan and China? I've never lived outside of my hometown before."

"I guess it is fun, sorry for calling it childish." He would apologize smiling softly. "Yes, I attended a private school so everything was strict! They even controlled our hair, we couldn't dye our hair crazy colors like blue, it had to be our natural hair color. They even banned make up for girls!" He would describe the strict Korean school he attended, they were quite traditional and followed the Confusciams laws that most Chinese, Japanese, and Korean schools followed. "The three countries are pretty good. It is like England, there's a busy city side and a beautiful country side. I personally like Japan better, especially Kyoto. It is very beautiful with the ancient forests and shrines. The Shrines and Temples are beautiful!" He would smile and he would take a small post card and show it to him. It was a pretty photo of a mossy statue along a secluded looking path. "This is a statue that's everywhere in Japan! They are supposed to protect babies who die young, it's a huge story. But we have cool temples and other stuff!" He said passionately. "What do you like about the place you lived in?" He asked him smiling with a happy grin.
