━━ summary, this thread is happening on FEB. 7TH, 2025 at LATE MORNING with THE GRYFFINDOR QUIDDITCH TEAM / wc: 577.

Rage wasn't a usual emotion that bubbled to the surface for the Gryffindor Chaser, but the moment that Aly's broom slipped right through his fingers from him yanking her back had felt soul crushing. Anger was the only feeling that bubbled to the surface as the snitch had been caught and the their second loss was served to the young team who had still been figuring out their play style. They had taken out so many of the enemy team, but their ballistic method just didn't quite work when the enemy Seeker was a seventh year steamrolling her way to the Quidditch Cup.

As Harlan landed on the Pit and headed to their Locker Room, it wasn't until then that he realized he was the oldest conscious member of the team. Both their captains were knocked out and most of their first years looked a little unsure of themselves. Instead of letting his anger sour his mood for the remainder of the day, Harlan would actively choose to use this to bond with the rest of the team. " Hey, chins up. We did great out there. " He looked specifically at @Aodhan Shaw. " The fact that we all didn't get blatched to hell is a good sign, right? You were out round one versus Hufflepuff. We'll use this and kick Slytherin's ass in a few months. " And Harlan believed it, their team had been in a rebuilding year as well with their two star players graduating last year. It'd be a far more equal match for both teams, at least.

Taking a moment to clean himself up, Harlan changed into something far more comfortable and casual for a February Morning. " With Pax and the rest of the team up in the Hospital Wing, i'm gonna go and check on 'em to give them the news. Heading up in like 10 minutes if anyone wants to join. " Simple and clear, Harlan would wait outside of the Locker Room as the Slytherin and Hufflepuff game was starting to get its own excitement. Poor Snakes, they were about to get obliterated like they did back in October.

Chatting with a couple of other Gryffindor students who came by to offer their condolences, Harlan was otherwise in a good mood as he waited for the members of the team who wanted to go up to the Hospital Wing. There were a few of the first years that even Harlan barely knew and he had decided that he should get to know them better, help shake some of the nerves he saw during the game. Losing was inevitable against a team half-full of upperclassmen but, this meant that next year was going to be way more even for the Lions to assert their dominance.

Once everyone who would join filled up, Harlan would lead the charge up to the Hospital Wing to see their fearless leaders. " How messed do you think it'd be if we told Pax folks that we won the game? Y'know, as a little joke. " He'd ask the quandary to the group right before they'd make it up to the third floor, seeing if maybe at least one other person would find a darker sense of humor a little funny.

Harlan peeked in to see if the Hospital Wing had been busy, feeling a little pleased with their own team for getting so many Ravenclaw Quidditch members in beds. " Knock, knock. Got space for the team to come in, Nurse? "

OOC — This thread takes place after the Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw - Winter Match and is reserved for the Members of the Gryffindor Quid. Team who'd like to participate.

Her team had been so close. They had fought hard and received good things from it. They had knocked nearly the entire Ravenclaw Quidditch team off their brooms and fought hard to go after the snitch, but they were not prepared for the seventh year, Aly. Avery had been amazed by her skill at catching the snitch. It was unparalleled to the catches Avery had seen in the past Quidditch games. It just made her realize more that she needed to work on her Seeker skills.

Avery nodded as Harlan spoke. Her arms were crossed across her chest as her hair flowed in the wind. They had to break their losing streak, and Avery knew their last chance for that year would be against Slytherin. Her first match had been against Slytherin. A tough match at that as it was the last match for the many seventh years competing on that team. It had been a hard loss for the lions, but Avery had the feeling that history would not be repeated. Maybe they could come back strong and finally put the snakes in their place.

Avery left the pitch after Harlan's speech. The entire way back to the Common Room she thought hard about what she would do next. She didn't know how to feel about going to the hospital wing. Not at first, anyway. She knew she would have to face it eventually and make sure Mikey was okay as well as her teammates.

Avery pulled on a simple red sweater and blue jeans after tossing her Quidditch gear on her bed. "Something to deal with later." She mumbled to herself as she walked out of the room to head to the hospital wing.

Upon arriving at the hospital wing on the third floor, she found Harlan asking the nurse if she had room for the Gryffindor team. She didn't hear the nurse's response, but the lioness had a guess as to what the nurse would probably say. Though she guessed that the woman would not appreciate a bunch of rowdy lions running rampant after a well-fought match, she had the feeling they would be allowed in. It made the most logical sense.

While he was still in the air, before the match had even ended, the adrenaline was so strong that Frederick momentarily forgot that once the Golden Snitch was caught, the game would be over. The boy had just scored a few goals, taking the risk of leaving the hoops unprotected, when the Ravenclaw Seeker did exactly that. It took Fred a few seconds to slow down his broom and fully process the whistle that rang loud and clear across the Quidditch pitch, confirming the second consecutive defeat for the lions.

The boy leaned forward to begin his descent toward the locker room, just like the rest of his teammates who were still on their brooms. Their captains had been knocked out, but compared to the opposing team, they still had more players left standing. Maybe it was that, along with the fact that this time Frederick had truly felt the thrill of the game, defending the hoops and even scoring goals for Gryffindor, that gave him the false impression that victory might actually come. “I thought we might win,” he commented to no one in particular before heading toward his locker to change clothes.

Keeping mostly quiet, with his attention divided between what his teammates were saying and the flashes of the match replaying in his competitive mind, Frederick only then realized that he felt cold. As he changed out of his uniform into warmer and more comfortable clothes, despite the loss, Fred held on to the hope that they could have won, that they had played a good match, and he didn’t let his mood sink. When he heard Harlan invite everyone to visit the teammates who had been injured in the Hospital Wing, he finished getting ready and joined the others who agreed with the idea.

On the way to the Hospital Wing, Frederick walked beside Rosaline, his friend and the only other first-year player besides him. Being one of the youngest members of the team, the boy felt a certain pressure to match the level of the older players, but sharing that position with his friend, who was also still learning, made that feeling ease a little. “At least we didn’t get knocked out this time,” Fred commented to the girl, continuing to walk along with the group.

Shortly before reaching the third floor, Buckley was toward the back of the line formed by his teammates, but he still caught Harlan’s remark and couldn’t help letting out a short laugh, immediately backing up the older student’s idea. “That would be funny.” Maybe it wasn’t the best moment for jokes, especially with him being a newcomer, but since Harlan was the one saying it, Fred was unlikely to disagree. He stopped and waited for the nurse’s permission, letting the older students take the lead.
