While the Storm Rages...
@Piper Hargrove
Since it was pouring outside, Piper and Cress had decided to come to the Great Hall for lunch. Cress wondered what was for lunch as they proceeded through the doors into the crowded enormous room. Quite a few students were there at their house tables already. She hoped Piper didn't notice, but Cress always got nervous when she was in a room with a lot of people. She hung back for a second before reminding herself not to appear socially awkward and followed Piper to the Hufflepuff table staring at the ground as she walked the whole time.
This was a bad habit of hers as was later confirmed as she tripped over the side of a bench, nearly falling. Recovering herself quickly, she felt her face go multiple shades of red. "Sorry, totally didn't see that," Cress stuttered as she promptly sat down at the first empty section of the Hufflepuff table.
Before long, she'd forgotten the incident and was back to her normal cheery self making the dumbest jokes and laughing hysterically at them. She pulled her sandwich apart to inspect what was in it. Chicken, cucumber, lettuce, and tomato greeted her eyes.
"Oh man, this looks delicious! I didn't realize how hungry I was," she laughed. "What's on yours?"

While the Storm Rages...
The rain outside was pouring, hard. Piper hated rain. She hated being wet. Even when her family went swimming, she stayed to the side. And so, Piper didn't hesitate when Cress offered to go to the Great Hall.
The Great Hall was ginormous. Piper understood why they called it Great Hall. She and Cress headed over to the Hufflepuff table. Many were already in their seats, chatting as they ate.
"Potions was exhausting." she heard. And, "she cast that spell on me on purpose!" Hogwarts was strange, yes, it was true. There were living trees and secret rooms. But the most strange part was the people there, that was for sure.
Cress seemed, strange. She kept her head down the whole time. To Piper, she didn't seem shy. Defiantly not. When she had met her, she was super nice, chatty, and quick to introduce herself. Piper decided not to ask, and instead smiled at her.
They sat down at the table, which was already full with happy Hufflepuffs. Soon, Cress was back to her happy self. Piper smiled. Today for lunch, the table was full of delicious sandwiches. Piper loved the food at Hogwarts. At home it was eat whatever her dad had cooked for her and her siblings. Here at Hogwarts, it was almost as if the food was infinite.
"What's on yours?" Cress asked.
Piper shrugged, mouth already stuffed with her sandwich. "Let me see," she said. She peered into her already bitten sandwich. "Turkey, lettuce, cheese, and tomatoes," she said, taking another bite.

Cress couldn't help thinking of her mother's homemade sandwiches that she'd make for her and her cousins (plus her brother but he had always been rather picky about food).
"You know," she turned to Piper, "my mom used to make sandwiches when my cousins had been out all day playing. We used to go down by the water and hang out all day, then come back for lunch."
She remembered one happy memory, "Once we were down by the water all day splashing around in it because it was summer and for once the water was nice and warm. We kind of forgot about the time, but one of my cousins, Xavier, remembered it - I guess he was pretty hungry - so we ran back up to my house and my mom made us ham and cheese sandwiches. We were dripping wet though so we couldn't actually go inside. We ended up sitting outside on the grass in our bathing suits and wrapped in towels eating our lunch. That was a great day," she reminisced.
"By the way, do you have any cousins you hung out with at all?" she asked, curiosity getting the best of her. Cress didn't know all that much about Piper's family.

While the Storm Rages...
"Well, I have quite a big family," she begun. "My dad has two siblings, my aunt Ivy and my Uncle Ian. My aunt just finished college and started working as a doctor down in London. She doesn't have any kids, but she has a girlfriend named Mila, and she's really nice. She brings us presents all the time. She's probably my favorite aunt. My uncle Ian though, well, let's just say he's not the closest. Uncle Ian is my dad's older brother. When my Papa died, he was supposed to inherit the family bakery. But around high school, he got into this gang. He stayed there and did some bad things for a few years, up until her graduated. He carried on the bad habits to college. He was caught and arrested, and being a goody two shoes family, my grandparents didn't take it very well. He was disgraced from the family, shunned as a criminal. So, when my Papa died a few years ago, my dad inherited the bakery. This made Uncle Ian very angry. You see, he was raised being told he would inherit the family bakery. He didn't really plan for his future because he thought he would make a living with the bakery. I'd assume it was very hard the first few years, but I don't really know. He didn't reach out. But, now, he's an office worker somewhere in Ireland, I believe. He's married, and has a few kids. My dad told me. He stalks him on the internet," she snickered, and turned to go check if Cress was still listening.
"And then there's my mum. Her side is way better. She used to work as a high school teacher, but now she helps out at the bakery and takes care of me and my siblings. She only has one sister, my Aunt Eleanor. She's married and has 3 kids, one for the each of me and my siblings," she giggled. "There's Lucy, she's 17 and my sister Peggy's best friend. They call all the time and talk about boys," she groaned. "And then there's Liam, he's the same age as me, 12. He's really funny. We're good friends. And then finally, there's little Lilliana. She goes by Lily though. She's only 3, so 2 years younger than my brother Peter. He's technically her idol. My Uncle Damien Anyway, they're probably the closest," she said, finally taking a bite of her sandwich.
