Style ahead of its time
It took months of studying and trying to stand out in class, but Donald finally got permission to practice second year spells in his free time. He felt a little special being able to do this in the classroom as opposed to making mistakes on his own or getting in trouble. A spell that he had been looking forward to ever since he saw the syllabus for the next few years was the clothing changing charm. As a muggle it was always so expensive to buy clothes so his parents never got him many new things. Experimenting or getting a funny costume were just out of the question.
A table was set up next to a mannequin wearing a plain set of robes and a pointed hat. It was so boring that it was begging for someone to practice giving it some flavor. Donald wondered just how much he could stretch this spell, but he'd have to start small. He set his textbook on the table, open to the page about the clothes changing spell, Multicorfors. This spell was a bit of a mouthful but it wasn't impossible to say. The wand movements also seemed simple enough at a glance.
Imagination was key to this spell. One had to picture the outfit desired while performing the spell to get the proper result. A reference point was suggested by the textbook for starters. The easiest one on hand were the Hufflepuff robes Donald wore. Robes to robes with different colors seemed an easy enough concept to conquer. The Hufflepuff boy raised his wand, assumed a dramatic stance, and shouted the words clearly while imagining his yellow robes.
"Multicorfors!" Donnie confidently said as red light emitted from the end of his wand, branching out to touch the robes in front of him.
At the last moment, Donald had thought it would be funny if the colors were backwards. A truly yellow robe as opposed to black with yellow trim. That brief break of focus had consequences. Instead of a copy of the Hufflepuff student robes, he suddenly had a bumblebee patterned robe on the mannequin. It was actually kind of cool despite being unintended. A smile spread quickly across Donnie's face as he inspected his work.
"Nice.. but..," Donnie flicked his wand at the target once more. "Multicorfors!"
This time the red light came out again, but the robes took the shape of a tutu dress. Donald was grinning ear to ear with pride as he created this hilarious concept. The hat had even turned into a little tiara. Success felt good. Donnie took a moment to ponder the next outfit idea.
"Multicorfors!" He uttered again while thinking about his Hufflepuff robes again.
This time the result was exactly as expected. A set of Hogwarts robes with the Hufflepuff trim. That was probably a better thing to leave hanging in the classroom than a tutu. But the first one was funny. Donald would never forget this spell because of it. Now he'd get to throw it around as a prank or to give himself instant style.
