A Great Experience - Overall
I had only been in a railway station one other time before this. It was loud and mad, but I still enjoyed it. Now I am enjoying it a little less. I am a bit worried. I just keep thinking three different thoughts in my head over and over again: "What if I get there and they find out that they made a mistake and they send me home with a wiped memory?", "What if something happens with my sorting and I never get sorted?", and "What if I can't get through that wall? What if it really is solid and I get a concussion or something?"
I'm not sure if any of these thoughts are even valid, but I cannot pull myself together enough to tell myself to stop worrying. I turn to my grandmother. She is holding my hand. I give her hand a gentle, reassuring, squeeze, and she returns it. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have her. I would surely be lost. It looks as if she is about to cry.
"You alright?" I offer my grandmother a small smile.
"Oh, yes, love. I am just sad to see you go. You know how much I love you right?"
"Yes, absolutely. And I love you too!"
She smiles a small smile, but it still looks as if she’s about to cry. I nod towards platform 9 ¾, keeping eye contact. She nods back, and we start walking hand in hand towards the barrier.
We get there and I walk through the barrier first. Its a very weird concept to think about. I've never, in all my days, thought that I might one day be walking through a wall. Once I get to the other side, I immediately see the scarlet and black locomotive. "The Hogwarts Express-" I thought. That's when my grandma came through the wall and practically threw me to the ground, she was walking super fast, I'm pretty sure you could actually classify it as sprinting.
She gives me a long hug and tells me to write plenty of letters. When we pull apart she has the tiniest tear rolling down her face. Right, I give her a kiss on the cheek, promise to write, and hug her once more - for good measure.
"Take care, grandmother" I say as I get on the train. I turn around and wait for her response.
"You too, love. I'll see you in a bit. Have fun and be good." She smiles as she says the last part.
I smile back and get fully on the train. Now I need to find an open seat...
