𝕴f there is a light then I am going to swallow it. If there is a god then I am going to make him cry.

Again.

Blade clashed against the trunk of the idle mannequin, steel ripping its way into the tender flesh of wood. Sliding back from the strength of the impact, her entire body moved in a singular motion as she jumped, swirling in the air, a single dagger ramming into her target before she slammed it down, the sound of its plastic skull splintering under her sword causing a blissful shiver of contentment alongside her spine. She wheezed, kneeling on the broken figure laying at her feet, hand clenched in pain around the hilt of her sword.

Again.

From under, ducking the repeated assaults of the bewitched dummy, parry, thrust, block and dive. Striking as hard as she could, snapping the other's blade in half, kicking its leg before sending him across the room, smashing into the opposite wall. Feeling a sudden change in the air, she tilted her head to the left a few seconds before another sword struck her down, barely avoiding a serious injury. The blade instead collided with her right shoulder, sending her down to her knees with a pained grunt.

Again.

Faster, faster. She had not enchanted every mannequin in this damn room for noth— "Blasted-" she hissed, sent rolling on the floor. She felt her grip loosen around her weapon, and did not manage to stop her spiral until her back slammed against the wall. Huffing, annoyed, she cast a narrowing gaze towards the mannequin that had suffered the same fate, a few minutes prior. Or was it hours. The count had been lost a few moons ago. Anger swirling within her veins like melted iron, she took hold on the wall as a propeller, then dove for her assaillant, who was soon shredded to pieces.

The adrenaline still coursing through her system, it took her a few seconds to realize she was the last figure standing in the middle of the room, panting, sword pointed at the ground and beads of sweat pearling down her neck. O, The Soul, Enraged — Violence for Violence. A mad hound, in the midst of battle, perched atop of a cemetary. Without her accord, her knees began shaking, and gave way beneath her weight as she crumbled to the ground, wheezing. The harsh, familiar sting struck her down harder than any blow, and a loud grunt escaped her, hand clenched around her shoulder. When she pulled it away, it was the same crimson as the one swirling in her eyes. Exasperated, she fetched the bandages she kept in her sack, and quickly wrapped it around the wound. No time to properly place it, even if her governess would frown should she learn she was being 'so foolishly careless with her own health'. Peuh. Her body possessed capacities beyond those narrow-minded moron's understanding, and the only care it needed was to sharpen it into the finest of weapons. Light, slender and rapid ; strong, sturdy and enduring ; violent, raw and deadly.

Again.

She put one knee to the ground, found her sword, then ro— "Gah-" A sharp, devastating wave of pain shook her entire frame, the steel clicking to the ground as she fell back down, clutching her shoulder. Damn it. Contemplating pushing it, she reluctantly abandoned the idea upon seeing how low the sun was dipping. The swordswoman had not the slightest clue of when she had begun, but judging by the cuts and bruises adorning her body, or how destroyed her knuckles wear, it must have been quite a lot of time. Still breathing hard, she kicked her sword back into her hand, sliding it back into its sheath, before pivoting to glance at the remnants of her training. Piles and piles of destroyed training dummies, scattered at every corner of the room, and a few broken swords. "Reparo."

A few minutes later, Viktoriya was dressed in suitable wear once more, though her trusted blade was still strapped to her waist. The Heiress had planned to head straight to her room and catch up on the reading Mstislav had sent her, but a sudden dizziness stopped her in her tracks, forcing her to lean on the wall until she found her breath once more. The pain stung her, constant, but it was easy to brush it off. Internalize, ignore, bottle up. Focus on what was important. Right now, being functional once more. Noticing the lavatory was a few steps ahead, she barged in, heading for a sink. Leaning on the nearest, she paused, panting, before splashing some water on her burning face. Breathe in, then out. Caught up in her attempt at cooling down, she didn't notice another person entering.

Astrid sighed, turned the page of the heavy Runes book in front of her, and continued her reading. She was sitting in the library, left leg brought up to her chest, cheek propped up on her knee. Next to the book were her notes, runes and Russian, arrows and symbols that only made sense to her, comments written in Norwegian. She was here since lunch and her friends had one by one left to enjoy their weekend elsewhere than in the library, working.
The thing was, no one had put pressure on her shoulders. No one expected of her to be perfect with perfect grades and amazing Quidditch performances. Astrid was a little sister. She had younger cousins, but they were literal babies and toddlers. So she was considered like the baby cousin of her "batch", even in Ingrid was only nine months older. And so, she constantly felt the need to prove herself, that she wasn't their baby cousin anymore. She was part of the school's Quidditch team, she had a four year winning streak at the family competition thing, she was a fucking Animagus. But Astrid was an overachiever and she also needed to have perfect grades, or else she felt like she failed. And yeah, she usually didn't need to study much to get good grades, but just to be sure, she was getting ahead. It couldn't hurt.
Looking up at the clock, the girl realised she had been in here for over five hours. Deciding it was enough for the day, she closed the book, stretched her arms over her head, put the book back in it's place and left the library, bag over her shoulder. Making a stop to the lavatory on her way back to the dorms, Astrid stopped dead in her tracks when she saw the other girl in there. The problem wasn't the blade strapped to her waist, no that was fine, the problem was her shoulder. Her covered in blood, probably hers shoulder. "Hey, uh..." the younger girl was splashing her face and probably hadn't heard Astrid come in. "your shoulder is bleeding. Are you okay?" What do you think? "I mean, do you need help with bandaging it?"

𝕿he high pitched ringing drilling through the barriers of her mind was persistent, and continuously growing louder. Blinking hard, attempting to make the hazy veil that had casted itself over her vision vanish into the bitter air of this advanced evening, Viktoriya was clutching the ivory sink so hard her claws had stretched out, leaving deep markings into the marble. Her breath was erratic, the oxygen being syphoned from her lungs by an unknown force, and the entire world felt as though it was shifting on its own axe, her balance struggling to stabilize in this ambient chaos.

The young heiress liked to think of herself as a wolf, rabid canine prone to massacre its opponents, a lone animal in the midst of a frozen forest, chips maculated in a deep crimson, as a low growl rises from its chest. Wolves were delicious to drink from, though nothing in comparison to the warmth of human blood. A majestic animal, though she was currently closed to the ragged hound than an elegant wolf. It suited her. Anything but the lamb Mstislav kept comparing her to, skittish and innocent weakling, unwilling offering to gods who had abandoned them long ago. A lovely way for her father to point at her flaws, remind her of her place and the objectives she carried.

There is no place for weakness under my roof.

A door loudly shut on her right. Offended someone dared to interrupt her spiralling, she casted a nasty glare towards the newcomer. Or tried to. She could not discern any of their features, only a blurry figure in motion. "Fuck," she groaned, eyes pressing hard before reopening themselves, as she pivoted to face the intruder, her entire frame straightening. Short silver hair, delicate features and the overall appearance of a flower blooming in may — ones she ripped from her balcony come the spring, detesting their sweet fragrance. It was deceiving, for her calloused hands as well as the fierce determination lighting her eyes promised an unknown strength ready to spurge when least expected. She looked enduring, as well as swift, though her fatal flaw might be an innate tendency to care too much, as immediately demonstrated by her first sentence.

Viktoriya, one eyebrow raised, shifted her attention from the potential threat to what she was pointing at. Blood was spurting from the bandage, soaking her shirt and trickling down her arm. Suppressing a curse that would have made her father frown, she slapped the wound with one hand, her teeth grinding in pain, and staggered backward until her hip hit the sink. That must have been the reason for her earlier symptoms. Fainting from blood loss as a Dhampir would certainly be some irony. Though it would take more than a boo-boo to make her collapse.

"I'm fine," she hissed in reply to either question. There wasn't a universe existing in which she would require either concern or assistance — weak weak weak weak weak — and it was certainly not fro- and the world tipped, and her vision turned from blurry to pitch black.

The bleeding girl turned towards Astrid and, yeah, she really didn't look fine. White hair, very pale skin - was it from blood loss?? - and her light eyes seemed a bit unfocussed. She staggered backwards, until hitting the sink, her hand now pressed against her wounded shoulder. She was in pain, Astrid could clearly see it. "I'm fine," she hissed. The older girl rolled her eyes, snorted, and announced "Sure you are. I'm taking you to the nurse, you look like you're about to faint." Call her a seer, before the younger girl could even refuse, her eyes rolled back and she tipped forward. Astrid's Quidditch reflexes made her move before she even thought about it, catching the other girl by the arms, just below the shoulders. "Well fuck".
Despite all the annoyingly death threatening situations Astrid had ever found herself in, she never thought she would ever be standing in a Durmstrang lavatory, a fainted and bleeding second or third year girl in her arms. She had to bring her to the hospital wing... a floor down. She was strong, but she wasn't sure she was strong enough to move a bloody unconscious body. Physically or emotionally. What if someone saw them? Astrid snorted. This was definitely not the worst thing this castle had seen.
Astrid maneuvered the girl's body towards the closest wall and made her back rest against it, before rolling up her own sleeves. She gently removed the fuck-ass sword the younger girl had strapped around her waist, and laid it on the wall next to it's owner. She then lifted her light body to set her on the counter, in the space between sinks, and laid her back against the mirror. Her head slumped forward a bit. Should Astrid slap her? Just to wake her up? No, that would just be hurting the wounded, and the girl already looked ready to bolt before she fainted. So she settled on tapping her cheek lightly, just to try to get a reaction out of the unconscious girl.
