Inés was walking around with big opened eyes. No lies, this building is enormous. She was walking for… what, 20 minutes? Corridors followed corridors, classes followed classes.
Where the hell is that bloody library?!
I mean, the surroundings are beautiful, the building itself is magnificent. But they could’ve put a map every five or ten meters, aye.
Her brother had told her before when he came home for his fist winter holiday, how he kept getting lost during his first week. Of course, Inés didn’t believe him; she never imagined it could be so convoluted that even a Ravenclaw like her brother could get confused. Until she was the one getting lost in the corridors.
There was no class at that hours, so she wouldn’t be late again and get scolded by the professors. Damn it, even though it was the first week, the professors were deducting five or ten points; they had no mercy to be late.
When she stopped to look around to figure out where she was, Inés realized she was passing through the same corridor for the third time.
This daft school must be messin’ with me.
The more she got lost, the more irritated she became, and even the voice in her head shifted in accent, just like always whenever she got pissed.
Thanks to traveling a lot and learning different languages, her Scottish accent wasn’t very noticeable normally; it was her English accent more dominant one. But at times like this, her accent shifted, and the Scottishwoman inside her came out.
She looked around to find someone, anyone, to ask where was the library.
Just then, a Hufflepuff student passing by could have been her saviour.
“Hey, excuse me, I was wonderin’-“
When the student looked up at her, Inés paused for a second. Clearing her throat, she continued, “the library! Aye, I was lookin’ for the library. Could ye show me the way?”

The day had been slow, to say the least. Cirrus’ first day at Hogwarts was nothing short of incredibly overwhelming. From the intimidating architecture of the castle to the contents of the classes that were almost completely gibberish to her, she had never felt so lost and disconnected before. And it seemed to stretch on and on with no end in sight. Most people hold fond sentiments gor their first day at Hogwarts, but Cirrus had never wanted to just go home more than now. Time itself was grating her mind until it was nothing but dull lump in her skull. As such, when that final bell went to signal the end of the school day, she had never been more thrilled.
Cirrus shot up from her desk with more life than she'd exhibited all day, rapidly packed up her things and exited the classroom which had become like that of a cage. She sighed softly as she felt liberated, the air in the corridors was infinitely lighter than that of the confining classroom. She then had the desire to familiarise herself with the castle, figuring she’d feel a little more comfortable in her own skin once she’d worn in the place a bit.
Cirrus took her time as she wandered the corridors, letting herself become mesmerised the twists and turns of the castle, making sure to commit to memory all the routes and locations of important places she thinks she’d need to know. She wasn’t fond of how daunting it was, but she’d much rather get out of her comfort zone and explore than get lost every other day. It was a big castle for a young girl like herself to get lost in and she absolutely detested the idea of having to ask someone for help.
What Cirrus really wanted to find was the library. Perhaps she could read up a bit on magical history so she wouldn’t struggle so much with her classes. She was sure the library had to be magnificent given the stature of the school and she was excited to discover some renowned wizarding literature titles, wondering how their fiction compared to muggle fiction. She supposed she could spend the rest of her day reading.
Cirrus hands were dug in her pockets as she drifted through the corridors while in thought, briefly studying all the portraits and statues and how they moved and talked. It was very surreal to her, but she kind of liked it. She wondered if she were to speak to one, would it respond? It was a mildly humorous thought to her, to converse with paintings…
It was at that moment that a girl approached Cirrus and spoke to her. Cirrus snapped back to reality and straightened herself out, staring at the girl with a strange expression, like she was startled that anyone was talking to her. She quickly composed herself and listened to the question. The girl asked where she could find the library…
Truth was, Cirrus didn’t know either, that’s what she was trying to find out. But she didn’t exactly have the heart to tell the girl that, as much as she really didn’t want company right now. Without really thinking, she spoke before she could stop herself.
"Sure…" Cirrus murmured, her voice came out with a slight gravelly undertone from underuse. Before the thought occurred to her that she may have made a mistake, she made an educated guess and chose a direction to walk in, expecting the girl to follow her.

Inés gave a big smile as she turned to follow the student. Finally, I will go to library
As she fasten her pace to catch her, she couldn’t help but observe. The freckly olive skin, a narrow face with dimples were making her face pretty unique. And also she had heterochromia eyes! They were looking so good with green and brown together that Inés wanted to stop for a second to see them clearly. But of course she didn’t say it out loud, it would be weird, right?
Her black, thick and curly hair was looking shiny, but them being pretty short made Inés stop thinking for a second. What if?
Not want to be rude or anything, Inés’s only was sure that she was she thanks to the school skirt. Maybe she wasn’t a she? How to ask without even making the other side offended?
Ughhh these things are so hard, honestly!!!
Should she ask? No, why would you ask such thing on the very first they you meet them??? But I don’t want to make her offended too! See? I said “her” again!
Inés took a deep breath and reduced her self. She didn’t have to ask today, OR EVER. Maybe she wouldn’t talk to them again in their whole life. But they are in same school, they will see each other for sure. She seem like a first year as well as Inés. Oh, maybe we will have same classes!
Alright, Inés, calm down, it’s not end of the world. Right now our goal is to find library, aye?
She finally looked around to the halls they were passing, so she could remember the way next time and not seem like a weirdo standing middle of the hallway.
When they went to right hall again, Inés broke the silence.
“Sorry, I made ye take a wee detour. I’m Inés by the way, Inés Ivonna.
What’s your name?”

Cirrus noticed a lot of things. She'd made it a habit to observe people and their mannerisms, so it'd be easier to avoid them. As such, she caught the accent. The Scottish lilt was as obvious as how the other girl was staring at her like she was trying to decipher a hidden code. Suspicious but distant.
Cirrus noticed a lot of things, but she never understood the 'why?' behind people's actions. She didn't know why the other girl, whom she could now put the name Inés to, was looking at her like that. Was there something on her face? She couldn't read this Inés person. Well, she couldn't read many people, this was no different, but that didn't prevent the fact that it still frustrated her.
Cirrus couldn't bring herself to care all that much. She would never willingly speak to Inés again after this interaction. Just somehow find the library, pretend as if she knew where it was all along, then hope Inés never stopped to ask her for directions ever again.
"Cirrus Mooney..." She muttered before falling silent, seeming mildly uncomfortable by the... outgoing nature of her new companion. She never could understand how some people could approach complete strangers and uphold a conversation. She believed that was reserved for people she already knew or someone whose character is so completely compelling that she doesn't mind too much. Although everyone is a stranger at some point and she isn't one to judge random people. To each their own.
Cirrus remained silent as she tentatively turned corners, occasionally looking over her shoulder to see if Inés was still there, inwardly hoping that maybe she'd decided to veer off elsewhere. It became more apparent to Inés through Cirrus' slow and blatantly uncertain movements that she didn't exactly know where she was going...
